There are many brazilian northern estates thare are within the amazon forest, they are developed, have big cities and also a lot of influence from the indigenous people, like  the estate of Amazonas, Acre, Rondônia, Roraima and Pará. Some of other estates like Maranhão, Amapá, Tocantins and Mato Grosso also have a little bit of the amazon biome. There are people living in the Amazon in a bunch of different life styles. Indigenous tribes, small villages, towns and big cities. It’s not a no-man’s land.

idk guys maybe we should try calling the amazon rain forest “sovereign indigenous lands” more often because i’m still seeing people talk about it like some sort of vast terra nullis where there are only animals–you know, like a colonialist

Brazilian carnaval is not that caribean carnaval with everyone wearing feathers on the streets. That's why you don't complain about things from a country you know from Simpsons and other ridiculous representations made by hollywood.

i get that what reaches you in terms of Carnaval (not Carnival, they are two different concepts and not at all direct translations) is the parades with the feathers outfits. However Brazil's actual Carnaval is on the streets, with people wearing colourful clothes and make ups, sometimes costumes, but most of the time, things that are comfortable to wear for 12 ,or more, hours on a 40 celsius temperature.

the parades with those outfits happens on two nights, those outfits are insanely expensive and it only became a thing when television started to get involved. while Carnaval itself happens in 7 days (or more). does it mean the new kit is good? from a person who was born in Carnaval, and celebrated my birthday religiously on street or saloon Carnavals, no. the itens are hardly representative of what i've seen people using, maybe the make up and one or two outfits. but it is something you would see Pabllo Vittar, the Drag who curated and inspired this kit using, and his dancers using during performances. Pabllo has influences from several cultures in Brazil, and those cultures are somehow present in the outfits, maybe the styling wasn't the best, we'll see about that. It's a queer kit, at least, and if you squint enough, you can pretend those things make sense for Carnaval.
