Chief Puddles has started taking naps at the front of his enclosure, using one of his aloe plants as a pillow. It's the best
#pooka speaks#he is so fucking cute#when his lights turn out you can either find him here or in his food bowl (this is how he begs for food) or on top of his humid hide where#its super warm from the heat lamp that just turned off#gotta warm dat belly#pet tag#leopard gecko

You won’t see this every day but making sure the system cannot proceed unless women have a seat at the table is the best possibly thing you can do in a place of privilege.

Describing some coat types using my own pigs :3

This is Poppy! She is the most common breed you typically see, the American Shorthair. When you "guinea pig" probably one of the first to come to mind is a tricolor shorthair. Like. That's a Guinea Pig right there.

Taimi is another tri color American shorthair, but with different colors! I love the combo of her black, white, and cream :)

This is Hazel! She is also an American shorthair but with a tortoiseshell coat!

Jellybean is another American short hair, but she's got my favorite coat color and pattern! The white stripe on her nose and her white belt are considered a dutch pattern (though the pattern usually has a wider belt, further down the belly) and her grey hair is agouti! Agouti means the individual hairs each have their own ticking (multiple colors on one hair) that create the lovely pattern. A solid brown agouti guinea pig is the closest color you're gonna get to wild guinea pigs! It helps them blend in :)

Last of our American shorthairs is Pumpkin! Her coat color is considered Self! This means she is one solid color. And isn't that color so pretty :)

Starting off the funky coats, this is Bumi! She's a teddy, which means she has more coarse fur that sticks out and gives her a fluffy appearance. She is tri-color, tho you can't see the cream cos it's just one of her back legs lol.

Peachy is a silky tri color! Silkies are just guinea pigs with long silky hair. She gets butt trims and has very fluffy cheeks :)

Yuki is also a silky pig, but she's showing off the pink eyed white (PEW) colors! Some silkies have EXTREMELY long whiskers, which is the case with this little girl :)

Lastly on our silky haired list is Marzipan! She is a Coronet, which is just a combination of a silky and a crested. She's got a cute crest on her forehead which turns into longer hairs. Sometimes it looks like she has bangs over her eyes lol.

Odette is another classic guinea pig coat type! She's a white/orange Abyssinian, which means she's got all kinds of rosettes all over her! Rosettes are sections of hair that radiate out from one point, and will push up against other rosettes to create the super wild fluffy look!

Last, but not least, is my boy Niko! He is one of the more interesting and rare breeds, a ridgeback! which isn't totally an actual breed, it's just a type of Abyssinian! What happens is they only have one rosette on each side of their back that push each other up into a sort of mohawk! Ridges can be different lenghts, Niko's is on the longer side. He also has very cute little rosettes on his feet :)
Anyway, that's guinea pig breeds and colors by my pigs! They are such an interesting bunch :)
