  What was a long-standing legacy to one party was nothing but a sudden and shitty set of events to another. Kujo Jotaro had no stories of his family’s legacy to aspire to ( save for on his father’s side, but that was a whole damn disaster ); he had no urge to be heroic, to defend the whole world from an evil he couldn’t begin to imagine. Truthfully, if his mother’s life wasn’t at risk… he wasn’t sure he would have been here at all, at least in the beginning.

  But here he was; a delinquent teen on a trip across the world with people he barely knew, to save the one he was arguably closest to. Caesar was one of said people, having arrived with the old man when they’d come to drag his ass out of prison. A second grandfather, in a sense, as if he’d wanted the first one anyway. Between the two, Caesar was naturally the more bearable– Joseph was loud as all hell– and yet, at a disadvantage when it came to combat. Or so the others who’d had their Stands for a while now would presume. As a street fighter himself, Caesar’s strange electric ability seemed to be pretty damn good at keeping opponents in check. So long as he had someone to back him up and take on the Stand, he could deal some damn good damage.

  And said back up was none other than Jotaro himself; there was no better candidate, with Star Platinum’s power and attack style. The enemy user was beaten to an unrecognizable pulp, earning little more than a disinterested ��tch’ from Jotaro as he shoved his hands in his pockets. One down… countless more to go. Fishing a cigarette from his pocket after a few minutes, he cast his companion a rather deadpan stare. Normal from him, regardless of his intentions. The words ‘are you alright?’ hung on is tongue, but Caesar beat him to the punch. Good grief. The teen was quick to avert his eyes, merely rolling the stick in his fingers for the time being with an annoyed huff. 

  Such was a day in the life. The comment about them being a good team was agreed with in the subtle way he lifted his head, but he did no more to emphasize it. Not when the enemy could take their teamwork to heart and use it against them. ( Hopefully, Caesar could get the message, particularly with the sharp words that would follow. )

  “ …Tch. I’m fine. ” A blatant lie, of course. Since they’d begun the journey, he’d taken more hits than he had over the course of seventeen years. He was already collecting scars from injuries he’d kept under lock and key– he didn’t like to worry people he knew, much less those he didn’t. Rolling his shoulders as proof for how fine he was ( ignoring the way cuts stung and bruises ached ), he turned on his heel to face opposite of Caesar and finally light his cigarette. Nothing like a drag after a good fight, or so he’s learned– adrenaline wasn’t good for much after the fact. 

  “ Don’t worry about shit that doesn’t involve you. I can handle myself. Just get cleaned up so we can go. Staying around here is giving me a goddamn headache. ”

AFTER  ALMOST  SEVENTY  YEARS,   one  comes  to  know  that  ‘  i’m  fine  ’  is  what  they  all  say.   so  many  of these battles have come close to being matters of life or death  !   caesar has sustained numerous injuries,  himself  ---  there is no way that jotaro was  just  fine,  even if he had quite the penchant for walking these things off.

caesar knows he has a ways to go before he may be considered in jotaro’s eyes to be at all ‘ close. ’   still,  he’s spent  enough  time with the boy to know that he’s in the business of not trying to worry anyone,  and walking it off.

even in his old age,  he’s still as hot - headed and stubborn as ever.   so,  even when jotaro speaks sharply to him,  caesar hardly even flinches   (  if anything,  his lips pull into the faintest smirk,  amused  ).   instead,  he takes a deep breath,  summons his hamon energy to his hands,  centers his focus on the tips of his fingers,  index and middle.

“  ------  not to worry,  nipote.   i am good to go as well  !  ❞   he answers,  casually makes his way forward,  closer to jotaro  ------------  until a hand hovers over his back.   closer,  closer,  while he tries to be slick and heal a few cuts and bruises and scrapes as best as he can without actually  seeing  where they could be,  damn that jacket.

“  perchance do you have another to spare  ?  ❞   he asks about jotaro’s smokes,  oh - so - casually continues to work his hamon  ‘ magic. ’   hopefully.    “  just don’t tell your old man.   i told him a long time ago that i stopped  !  ❞   he stifles a chuckle,  and when he thinks he’s done enough,  he sets his hand back down to his side,  puts a little bit more space between himself and jotaro.

for someone trying to  diffuse  the situation,  trying to assure that this is all just one big misunderstanding,  caesar is certainly doing a less - than - stellar job of watching his mouth   (  perhaps his age has made him  crankier  ).

he removes his spectacles,  wipes them clean with his shirt,  because  second  of all,  this kid looks  bizarrely  familiar,  and he will not know peace until he discerns what it is about him that does.   hopefully,  he can accomplish this without  perishing. 

the kid  ---  well,  he  looks  like a kid.   but,  there’s a look in his eyes that  strikes  him at his core.   he’s underestimated people like that before.   hell,  he underestimated  joseph.   but,  he also thinks he’s  been  this kid,  maybe he’s been  worse  than this kid,  blood - lust and hatred in his eyes and a wrench primed to  hurt  people in his hands.   caesar wants to avoid an altercation if he can,  on his  vacation  no less.

he sighs.

“  forgive me.   i don’t mean to be  rude  ---  i think this is a big misunderstanding.   how can we settle this matter  ?   perhaps over a cup of coffee  ?  ❞

i’m posting some verse notes while i still don’t have a verse page -- a link to this will proooobably be put somewhere on my blog until i make a real page.  i’m taking a lot of creative liberties with some of these haaaah so bear with me.  also  LONG POST  warning !!!!

END OF BATTLE TENDENCY:

caesar creates his final hamon bubble,  fully expecting this to be his end.  a portion of the ceiling collapses,  and the debris just  barely  misses caesar.   he manages to crawl away from the wreckage,  below everyone’s radar,  and suspend your disbelief everyone because the bastard finds that he still has some fight left in him,  manages to get enough of his breathing under control to slowly close his wounds.   the speedwagon foundation was alerted to caesar’s  “passing”  and have checked the place out to give him a proper burial,  only to find him barely alive and hiding in a dark corner of the room.   they take care of him while joseph and lisa lisa fight kars and wamuu,  and he’s bandaged up but standing at joseph’s  “funeral.”   following this,  he is convinced to  kind  of  settle down  -- he adamantly trains his hamon,  but he does take up a career in culinary arts.

STARDUST CRUSADERS:

that all being said,  this would then make him alive and well by the events of sdc.  whether shipped with joseph or not,  he has a hand in raising holly.  still being obnoxiously proud of his heritage and history with hamon,  he lowkey teaches holly as a child how to wield it right under joseph’s nose.   when the crusaders embark on their journey to defeat DIO,  caesar insists on accompanying them,  despite not having a stand.   while he cannot see other stands,  making him a perfect target for other stand users,  he develops an ability to sense them  --  and is otherwise at the very least not able to be distracted by stands.   in battles where the user is out in the open,  caesar can go straight for the user if the other crusaders can distract the stand.   however,  he is forced not to chase after DIO with the remaining crusaders after their journey into the mansion,  it being too dangerous for him to continue.   ( side note for any kakyoins,  i humbly offer a Thought(TM):  caesar being near the water tower after DIO and joseph continue their chase,  and just  barely  managing to close his big-gaping-wound.  nudge wink shrug emoji. )

POST - STARDUST  (STAND EDITION):

okay bear with me again  (as if y’all haven’t been doing this already lasdkfdjf).  just before the Gang(TM) leave cairo,  a test - shot arrow is fired at caesar and pierces his stomach.  he reawakens to find that his own stand has manifested because of the arrow  ( which could be how jotaro and co. are alerted to the existence of the arrow in the first place. )   introducing:  STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN.  while it does assume a humanoid appearance,  it is attached to caesar at all times practically from the hip,  and operates in a similar fashion to hermit purple in that it amplifies caesar’s current abilities:  anything caesar utilizes as a weapon can become capable of hitting other stands,  including his hamon bubbles.  stairway to heaven can create a temporary barrier to protect caesar against oncoming attacks,  which caesar can then potentially infuse with hamon,  but otherwise cannot physically attack anyone,  itself.

DIAMOND IS UNBREAKABLE:

this one’s brief:  whether caesar has a stand or not,  he’ll accompany joseph to morioh town.  he’s still pretty energetic for an 80 - year - old,  albeit a little slower on his feet.  his vision isn’t what it used to be,  and he now wears glasses.  he can be seen mumbling about how he’s getting “too old for this” more frequently.

VENTO AUREO:

there’s no way he  hasn’t  been to italy at any point during the course of this part’s events.   he’s a retired man,  just on vacation.

EYES OF HEAVEN:

don’t have much to expand upon here,  but the verse exists,  and i am cool with young or old caesar,  with or without his stand.  anyone,  including duplicate caesars... come at me.

MODERN:

since i let caesar be a chef in all of his other verses,  he’s a fashion designer in his modern verse,  although he is still quite the cook on the side.  he goes to school for fashion in italy,  where he grows up,  and then moves to new york later.  caesar’s an active member of the nyc drag scene.

POKEMON:

my boy’s a water type gym leader.  possibly subject to change,  but his team currently includes:            gyarados - named puffin,  evolved from a magikarp who caesar lovingly                              took care of while saving caesar from a cave-in.            blastoise - named polpetto.            wailord - named tiny,  because he thinks he’s hilarious.            kingdra - named bravo            samurott - named topolino            vaporeon - named joy (but affectionately calls jojo) he also has a sobble,  who is not part of his team,  but sits on his head,  always.  his name is bubble.

THAT  JOJO,   always  so  cocky  !   he is  really  cocky for one wearing  two  deadly wedding rings,  ‘round his heart and throat,  poised to  kill  him if they fail to defeat the pillar men before time runs out.

this is not to say that he  doubts  their capability to destroy them.   caesar,  himself,  looks forward to beating them all into the ground  !   he does not fear them,  but he has overcome his fear of death long ago,  too.

A  SMALL  FROWN   worries  caesar’s  lips.   this child looks  exhausted,  fatigued,  like she oughtn’t be out and about for as long as he thinks she has been.   where are her parents  ?   does she have any  ?   he cannot allow this to carry on,  if not.

he remembers being so young,  remembers the day his father had vanished,  left him and his siblings all alone.   this child seems to be in a much better place,  mentally,  than he had been back then  ------  but even then,  nobody deserves to live this way,  alone and fending oneself at such a young age.

IT’S  A  GOOD  THING  THAT  CAESAR  ANTHONIO  ZEPPELI  hasn’t  gotten  rusty  in  his  old  age.   if anyone had told him fifty years ago that he would cheat death and live to fight against manifestations of the soul that he couldn’t even  see  ------  well,  he’d probably have laughed in their face.   (  vampires,  pillar men,  life forces,  zombies,  those all made sense to him.   apparently,  ghosts and stands are where he’d have drawn the line.  )

truth be told,  caesar wasn’t certain that he’d have even been  allowed  on this trip to egypt without a stand.   and,  he would be lying if he denied feeling the  nerves  that coil tight in the pit of his stomach.   he knows how dangerous this is.   but,  he also knows that holly is in trouble.   he can’t just stay home and twiddle his thumbs,  hoping that joseph and jotaro and the others save her and return home safely.   he  definitely  will not be sitting idly by,  knowing that  DIO  is out there.

this has to be his chance  ------  their  chance  ------  to finish what his and joseph’s grandfathers started  !   this was an entire century in the making  !   he will  prove  that he can still be useful without a stand.

------------  and that’s precisely what he’s done.

another fallen stand user,  another job well done.   caesar exhales a sigh,  smooths out his jacket and dusts himself off as he glances over to his fighting companion.   he’s still riding off of a rush of adrenaline,  a triumphant look in his eyes that only faintly pull at his lips.   he’s kept up the practice of hamon all these years,  even throughout such a long period of peace,  but this is the first he has used it seriously since the fight against the pillar men.

❝  we make a good team,  don’t you think,  nipote  ?  ❞   jotaro distracts the stand,  caesar goes for the user,  with no distractions.   it works like a charm,  until the users get smarter,  and realize that caesar is hardly flinching at their stands because he cannot  see  them  ------  or they remain in hiding.    ❝  now,  are you injured at all  ?   i can patch those right away.   ❞
