there's a near death experience in like 90% of the episodes. at least 60% of those is someone almost getting shot/actually getting shot

this is a show for like 12 year olds.

both of those above things coexist.

starting in s3, immortality angst + (in a negative tone) "humans really never change/are all the same" (said statement swaps to a much more amused "humans." when talking about Joker)
