On night four of their tour in Chagrin Falls Ohio, Calvin and Hobbes open up with a cover of I can do it with a broken heart from Taylor Swift’s TTPD album, complete of course, with a vaudeville jazz, top hat, coat and cane routine. The meaning is Watterson continuing to successfully write and draw his comic strip despite pressure to license, and Calvin enjoying life with Hobbes despite his bad days in school and struggles to fit in with his social life. Calvin and Hobbes cover Taylor Swift’s Long Live as a tribute to their friendship and adventures. Then in a Taylor Swift mashup of Fearless and 22, one child from the audience was invited to sit in their red wagon with them. She said it was the best moment of her night.
