I recently read “Where Rainbows End” and it was one of those books that left me sitting there in contemplative silence for a while, and then I just cried. For about 30 minutes. I certainly have been moved in a new direction with my own writing because of this book. It most certainly changed my life…and the way I think about life.

Hatfields and McCoys. My fix of gritty, action packed historical drama until Hell on Wheels returns on August 2nd. Speaking of Hell on Wheels, Tolbert McCoy was, as he so bluntly put it, "Hell on Earth".
He was such a piece if work, but so entertaining.
There actually is a bit of history behind this famous fued.

Saw this one recently. It wasn't perfect, but I found it entertaining. But of course, I was rooting for the Earl of Essex, and he was beheaded. *shakes head* My favorite characters always end up dying. Anyway, I think I'm due for some Shakespeare reading soon. Maybe Hamlet? Macbeth?

I love when TV shows reflect American History, I adore period dramas, and I am so easily swept into the world of Hell on Wheels. I. LOVE. THAT. SHOW. But, my inner history geek is scrutinizing and I'm always evaluating historical content... A lot of things are accurate and a lot of things aren't... Anyways, I've just gotten to thinking that there has to be more films that are live-action documentaries for both entertainment and pure learning! I mean, how cool would it be if there was more prominence in a field of film writers/historians that could write scripts for shows that completely and accurately portray historical events (are meant for educational purposes, but for me and many of history buffs really could be entertainment, too) but run like a motion picture?*Sighs* It would be PERFECT! It'd be different than other works out there because there would be no fiction whatsoever and it wouldn't be a documentary (But of course, documentaries are life). The downside would be that there would be no live footage or interviews :(, but it would be another platform of historical expression! It would be...the DRACUMENTARY. But wait... There are DocuDramas that do just that! And I have to say this all under an Eddie Spears gif because...? Because he presented the award for Outstanding DocuDrama at the Western Heritage Awards!

Poetry is such a complex artform and is beyond mesmerizing. This one is by professional poet Helen Ingram and highlights the bond between a mother and child. I think that the final line "love will never fade" is pretty universal. I mean, infatuation with something can slip quickly, but love? That is more complicated. Such wonderful poems, so many interpretations! She's right here on tumblr so be sure to browse her other work as well!

Rattlin' Bones-
I have been obsessed with this song ever since I heard it on AMC's Hell on Wheels season 1!

Smoke don't rise Fuel don't burn Sun don't shine no more Late one night, sorrow come round Scratchin' at my door But I cut my hands And break my back Draggin' this bag of stones Till they bury me down, beneath the ground With the dust and rattlin' bones

"With flowing tail and flying mane, Wide nostrils never stretched by pain, Mouth bloodless to bit or rein, And feet that iron never shod, And flanks unscar'd by spur or rod, A thousand horses – the wild – the free - Like waves that follow o'er the sea, Came thickly thundering on." -Lord Byron
