I'm still alive btw my ancient pen tablet just decided it was it's time to die and my csp sub ran out on my other tablet. Money is too tight rn for me to fix those issues so I haven't been making any kind of art that I feel like is worth posting at the moment.

I've been forcing myself to learn and get comfortable with Krita in the meantime but man I forgot how clunky it is. maybe I will post some sketches later but no promises!

I posted a wip of this some time ago and while I was stuck in cowboy hell I reworked the sketch entirely and now I'm going to start working on it again. Because drawing my bestie's stupid evil lesbian is "good" for my mental health apparently. like peace and love on planet Ens or whatever.

Here's two sketches I drew in an unused sketchbook that I found while cleaning my room.

On the left is an OC owned by my co-fronter and on the right is a random unnamed Shimmera.

here is a toothy wip from a piece I'm working on right now. Shimmera are omnivores btw and show teeth as a sign of agitation and annoyance.

Aedo is an Imaiga warrior witch and a rare example of a living Shimmera without a physical body. They of course had to die first to attain that status thus the very tongue in cheek ref sheet.

also... their ears fold over and the fin-like parts are expressive because otherwise they have a severe case of resting bitch face. I don't think I'm going to include a view of their ears up on the ref because they aren't normally able to hold their ears up anyways.

I will also say that Aedo and Null (and Ghost, my sona's old design, if you've been following me for awhile) look similar because they were formed in roughly the same area. They are of the same Paqu but that has no bearing on appearance since the environment where a Shimmera forms dictates their physical appearance.

At one point the two merge together briefly and as a result Null (the current iteration) bears the scars of what happened to Aedo's body after their death in the form of markings.

Here's a series of quick and loose icons I made of our three main Sedians: Phercy, Mir, and Lorn! I wanted to take a little break from my current project and since I've been thinking about our lyzans a lot lately I decided to make some matching icons for them.

These were done in Procreate using a mix of default brushes and one custom brush I use for everything.

wow I really said "I need to make more art" and then I immediately started another big art piece that's going to be the only thing I work on for the next 2-3 months

Left: a repurposed sketch that I'm turning into an another portrait of Phercy/Epsilon. this is going to be a smaller piece that will get done when it gets done (as usual).

Right: said big dumb art piece that's going to be the only thing I work on for the next 2-3 months. cowboy Tecca because I love to deliver on my promises.

I finished Tecca's ref! I ended up going in an entirely different direction with his markings and kept the colors mostly the same. I'll probably do one last one for Null and their past lives and then I'm calling it quits, there are more Shimmera out there but I'm only making visual refs for the ones I want to commission art of lmao. Lore under the cut as usual.

Tecca is a Gyregan/Ektraa Faeng Shimmera; he takes care of local wildlife as a ranger of sorts on his ranch in the Northern Strata. He is very polite and humble, almost self-deprecatingly so, he's got quite a past for a Gyregan pariah and most of his more interesting stories take place in Vossilor. He doesn't talk much about his past, but you could piece some of it together if you listen to the songs he's written...

He also dresses like a goth cowboy and I also have to draw that at some point!!

Another piece from my backlog finished! This is a redraw of this piece with my current Kinself. Honestly I just wanted a new header with personal symbolism that I drew myself.

New Shimmera just dropped!! I finally finished Xyla's full ref :)

This is Xyla, one of the Pyrefei’s most respected elder, also known as the “Firebrand”. She is compassionate yet unmoving, a tactical genius, and master of beast and machine, and she has two adopted children (Fen and Ire).

I don't have any new lore for her to share rn but she actually has a lot of it given she's one of the longer lived Shimmera lol. There's a lot of important stuff she's been involved so I have to sit down and do a write up of all of that and I want to make sure give it the time it deserves.
