Scared to face reality because what reality am I living?

So used to the one I made up inside my head

But it’s already so close to being dead

Got to find a new perspective

One that’s outside my mind

But it feels so darn hard to find

These emotions are crashing down

There was no warning of a landslide

Should’ve seen it coming

But instead I turned a blind eye

Been dodging all these feelings my entire life

I never knew there was a right way to cope

Everyone I knew always drank or smoked

I took a step towards that direction

Although it didn’t feel right

But everyone else was doing it

So it must’ve been alright

One year I got carried away

Smoke and drank till all my troubles went to fade

It was euphoric and it kept me up high

Till I laid my head on my pillow and started to cry

I felt like I was never going to be able to set

myself free

I put the substances aside and decided I wanted

to enjoy life as a natural high

I never thought of myself as an addict

But what addict does?

It took me a couple years to stop depending on

drugs for happiness

A couple years to organically unpack my trauma

I don’t see myself wanting to go back living with

so much drama

I deserve peace

I deserve love

I deserve comfort

I deserve to give myself everything she’s ever

needed in her life

My inner child deserves to sleep peacefully at

night.
