So this is where we’re at now.

Having a headcanon that a character is transmasc or a trans man is now Bad. Seeing yourself, your struggles, your perspectives and experiences, any of that, in a character is bad because you are a man or person whose gender is more masculine and you were AFAB.

But also there’s very few trans guy characters at all ever. Because erasure is a thing.

So you’re just not allowed to see yourself in fiction at all.

But also can I just say this was done in the ace discourse too and a bit when people were discoursing about bi people too? That character can’t be a trans guy, this is misogyny/transmisogyny. That character can’t be ace or aro, this is homophobia/lesbophobia! That character can’t be bi, compulsory heterosexuality and lesbophobia! Are we not supposed to see a pattern here? The moment it becomes trendy to shit on a specific part of the queer community then it’s suddenly an act of bigotry towards somebody else if that part of the queer community starts thinking maybe a fictional character is like them? You are all repetitive.

Also: time goes by fast. Four years will pass, perhaps surprisingly quickly. The last four years did, and so will the next four. I am not optimistic, but I am stubborn. I think we'll probably be okay. Not all of us, no, and not for the short term, but even that is not automatically destined to be terrible in all things and everywhere. Nothing is foreordained and nothing is inevitable. They are very stupid, mean, incompetent, vile, and cruel, but they are not smart. They are not evil geniuses. I am not going to assume ahead of time that they will magically be able to do everything they bluster about, or even that it will have the effect they imagine if so. Etc. etc., cardinal rule of living under fascism: do not obey in advance.

This was the seventh time we had been displaced since the beginning of the war, and we were living a difficult and tragic life. Right now, donated money is being used to help us survive this war. Food is very expensive and my family has to pay rent for the land that our tent is on. However, I want to save up enough money to evacuate my family to a safer place where we can rebuild our lives. I dream of returning to university to finish my computer science degree. I want to provide a better life for my family than is possible in Gaza. I would like to share the story of Khaled Smeer, who once lived a stable life as the manager of one of the largest malls in Gaza. In addition to his management role, Khaled worked as an English translator, leading a busy life filled with activity and interaction with others. He lived in northern Gaza with his family, and everything was going well until the war broke out.

As the conflict intensified and the bombings escalated, Khaled’s home was completely destroyed. In a matter of moments, he and his family lost everything they had; no home to shelter them and no resources to rely on. Life was no longer the same. Now, Khaled lives in northern Gaza, where conditions worsen every day. They are struggling with severe hunger, with no access to the basic necessities of daily life—no food, no clothing, and no safe place to stay.

In the face of this tragedy, Khaled decided to start a campaign asking for help. He isn’t just asking for himself, but for all those who suffer like him. Khaled is trying to leave Gaza in search of safety and a chance to start over. However, he faces a significant obstacle: it costs 5,000 USD per person to leave when the border crossing opens.
