Peace Corps MONGOLIA Maverick
124 posts
I'm Daniel Lindbergh Lang, back in Mongolia after so long! I'm serving here in English education and community development for the U.S. Peace Corps. I often write stories about life, places and identities. I explore yesterday and today, as a Catholic, Austrian-Chinese American. Expect at least a couple stories most months! Say Hi to me at [email protected] All words here are mine and reflect neither Peace Corps' views nor those of the U.S. government. Enjoy!

Saint John Vianney
The Cure d'Ars
1786 - 1859
Feast Day: August 4 (New), August 8 (Trad)
Patronage:  priests
After many obstacles and suffering, St. John Mary Vianney became one of the most celebrated parish priests in the Catholic Church.  He fought for souls in his small town in Ars, France by fasting, praying and hearing confessions until the wee hours of the morning.  He converted many souls and because of this, the Devil often tempted him in the middle of the night, but he was so strong and so rooted in prayer that he was able to triumph.  It is said that the Devil once told St. John Vianney, "If there were three such priests as you, my kingdom [in France] would be ruined."

Saint Peter Julian Eymard
1811-1868
Feast Day: August 2
"You receive Communion to become holy, not because you already are." St. Peter Julian Eymard is responsible for helping many Catholics discover the importance of the Holy Eucharist. Born in Grenoble, France, he entered the seminary at a young age despite his father’s disapproval. After becoming very ill and almost dying, he made a miraculous recovery and was ordained to the diocesan priesthood in 1834, and later joined the Marists. Overcoming many difficulties he established the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament, both dedicated to adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Happy Feast Day
St. Peter Faber, SJ
April 13, 1506 - August 1, 1546
Feast Day: August 2
Patronage: Catholic reformers
Saint Peter Faber was a French Jesuit missionary priest and theologian. He was a co-founder of the Society of Jesus, along with his friends, Ignatius of Loyola and Francis Xavier. He became a well-known spiritual director to the clergy and wayward lay people, preaching in more than 25 European cities during the Protestant Reformation. His final journey brought him to Rome in 1546 where he was to attend the Council of Trent. Here he died at age 40 from exhaustion and hardship from traveling
in the presence of Ignatius.

Cool detail, when the light of the Ultimate Weapon ends up striking it, it actually makes an X/Y depending on the version you're playing.

Komodo dragons are native to Indonesia and weigh around 80 kilograms (176 pounds) on average. They eat almost any kind of meat and are known as deadly predators...
