Hello, hi! I know it’s been a long time (as if I was even consistent back then), but I have a new Instagram (that is actually consistent so far!) and I was hoping you would do me the honour of giving me a follow?
Consider me an applied studygram, posting less about desk spreads and more about the things I see and study with the occasional cameo from my cats.

Beauford Delaney (1901-1979), Notre Dame, 1949.
My internship has to do with an exhibition about the impact of American artists on abstraction in postwar Paris, but look at how sweet this figurative work by Beauford Delaney is.

Hi, hello, happy Monday to you!
Things have been pretty quiet here since it’s summer, but I started my internship at the museum last week and I thought it might be neat to share my findings here. I thought this would be an opportunity to get my foot through the door of my dream job but I am afraid to say, I already have some concerns…

Is it just me, or is it really hard to find bound notebooks (Moleskine, Leuchtturm, whatever) in person these days?

09.05.2021 | When in doubt, (three) day trip!
Between the flood in our soon-to-be former kitchen, the move into our new apartment taking way longer than anticipated, grades taking forever to be published, and the pressure of Masters applications ever growing, I thought it best to put everything aside and visit my parents for a few days.
Moreover, I can’t say I don’t take full advantage of the fact that I study in the south of France. It would be a waste if we didn’t take the time to wander in such a beautiful city as Nîmes!

01.05.2021 | On Tuesday, water started pouring down from the kitchen ceiling. It wasn’t stopped until Thursday morning. Our kitchen’s electric is now fried, so we’re basically camping until we can (hopefully) start moving to a new flat (pending approval) next week.
It’s been such a stressful ordeal that I have done not a single thing I was meant to do this week. I didn’t do any research for the two catalogue notices I’m meant to be writing. I did no writing. And I have made no progress on my Masters applications. But I have been outside more in the past few days than I probably have been in the past few weeks leading up to finals.

26.04.2021 | My exams are done.
I can’t decide which is worse though: the exams or waiting for the results?

Grant Wood is synonymous with American Gothic, 1930 (which is excellent), but he did more than just that one painting. I laid eyes on The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere and thought it was a diorama at first.

03.01.2021 | There’s nothing quite like the stillness of snow, to make the most mundane of scenes seem magical.
This is an unusual occurrence in the south of France, so you can guess that it was quite a treat (at least for me having grown up in New England).

22.12 | It’s winter now. I can’t expect snow where I am but at least I can indulge in art and photos of snowy scenes.

12.12.20 | My last exam of this session is on Monday morning. It’s on the history of Greek architecture, more specifically Greek temples, and I have all weekend to study for it.
Deep down, I’ve known that the subject isn’t my cup of tea — I’m turning out to be more of a médiéviste (nb the photo of the refectory in the Palais des Papes in Avignon) — but that fact is well-apparent today as my current study session has resulted in a nap (a really good nap, too).

01.12.2020 | Coffee and updating my Latin vocabulary notebook. Finals start this weekend, and I guess I should be stressed about that fact? but I’m not? (but I probably should be.)
