It's the Wii channel that might have the longest name and serves a highly specific use case.
Also the channel downloaded from the wii shop is not the one that does the actual patching. The first channel (title id HCR[region letter here]) downloads a second IDENTICAL channel that has the same title id as Skyward Sword and does the actual work of patching the save. The identical channel is then deleted once the patch is done so it leaves no traces on the console (well anything the player can see).
