I was skeptical, but I was blown away. They were the real stars. 

Can you believe Black Panther gave us bad ass women who weren’t over-sexualised, had combat appropriate footwear, clothing, and hairstyles, had their own ambitions, were well rounded and complex characters, and who all had their own story

Hannah Simone (CeCe from New Girl) cast as the lead in a reboot of an old superhero show, “The Greatest American Hero.” Not only is the hero gender swapped AND a woman of color, the producers are an all-female team, including the very, very hilarious mind behind “Fresh Off the Boat” and “Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23,” Nahnatcha Khan.

Oooh, so excited... I loved what I read of the Chilling Adventures. I hope they really lean into the darker elements AND keep the wry and twisted humor--if they do, it’ll be completely different from anything on TV right now. 

Cuz, let’s face it, Riverdale is poorly-written, overly precious, self-referential without any awareness, and just so, so bizarrely stupid and humorless. 

Sabrina deserves a higher caliber of writing. Fingers crossed.

Kim “Geguri” Se-yeon is one of the best in the world at the video game Overwatch. She’s so good that, predictably, her (male) opponents claimed she was cheating, that it wasn’t actually her playing. To prove it, she performed live on stage, cameras trained on her hands, with a mask on - because she was a minor. Her doubters accepting they were wrong, resigned from eSports afterwards.

Months later, when developer Blizzard formed a professional league for Overwatch, 144 of the world’s top players broke into teams – but Geguri was, bafflingly, not one of them. Each team, to a one, came up with increasingly ridiculous excuses as to why (one claimed they didn’t want it to seem like a PR stunt). The ensuing controversy made Geguri quite uncomfortable, but it was not to last: last week, the Shanghai Dragons signed her on, making her the only female player in the entire league.
