What a pair the two made, with long hair swaying from behind. While she never had much time to really explore Fódlan outside of knowing the ins and outs for escapes, routes for less than savory intentions – she never really had time to really admire the beautiful land for what they were. The opportunity here was not one she was to pass up.
❛ I’m sure any supplies would be welcome back at our encampment. Perhaps after our hike. I had no idea that the fruit was so nutritious.. I take it you’re well educated about such things, then? ❜
Edelgard definitely wasn’t a climber to say the least. The image was enough to get a small smile out of her, if because of how ridiculous it was.
while she might not be accustomed to such activity, jakurai had certainly used to some akin to it. physical fitness had long since been a necessity, for one reason or another, in his past thus he takes the walk in his stride and only slows down so as not to rush ahead and leave her behind. his mannerisms remain polite, regardless of the wheres and whys.
“ not as much as i would perhaps like, but a study of nutrition could be considered relevant to my studies, i work as a physician in the city usually. when i’m not roaming the wilds of an unknown island, of course. “ he chuckles, lifting a large hanging rope of vines up ahead for the lady to step under unscathed.
the lush vegetation is not exactly dangerous, but with her smaller stature, jakurai does his best to remove any hanging thorns and nettles which might seek to tangle within their hair.

For the time being he’d tuck it away, the image of that light hue of red dusted over the others skin. A pleasant touch to the sea of violet and pale complexion, something he found himself entertaining more than he might care to admit – but it was an observation he’d leave as merely that. A sight for the eyes, nothing more Besides, a fluttering in his belly had Isa’s observant stare faltering once again.
Each bite Isa took after was slow, almost methodical, as Jakurai took the floor to speak. The same type of back and forth they had played at before; one spoke, the other listened quietly and occupied themselves with what sat on the table in front of them. A perfect excuse to merely listen, to pay attention and reflect on what had been said – or seen. His mind was still on that, for as brief as it had been. How silly.
Isa almost hadn’t realized he’d already taken that last bite, fork coming to tap aimlessly against the plate. Eyes met the barren dish before rising to meet his company’s face, again. The fork would be placed aside and drink would find its way into his grasp for another sip.
At least he still had that – and the curious tug of the others explanation.
“No,” he found himself starting. “–no, it’s fine. It’s rather fascinating, really.” The glass he held found the table again, set aside to allow Isa to lean back comfortably a second time around. With less resentment on recalling the past and more interest towards the explanation given. It was refreshing to hear the goings of another world without etching it onto paper and reporting it, plotting out the best course of visiting and taking advantage of what hearts were most vulnerable. “… as out there as it may sound, my previous occupation managed with visitation to, well. Other worlds. Almost like coming to this one, so unlike what we’re used to.”
Pause is given to collect his words, idly tucking a few stray hairs behind his ear in the meantime. “… I used to be so fascinated by it all as a child.” Hm, perhaps a bit off topic. “Forgive me, I do not mean to make light of your worlds troubles with such childlike wonder, nor gloss over the details you’ve given… it is all a bit to digest.” Certainly not what he was expecting from a doctor, that’s for sure.
“… a style of music,” to put it simply, “–as a means of weaponry is familiar, to say the least.”
a sigh passed his lips as jakurai smiled in relief. “i’m somewhat relieved that you aren’t simply running for the hills after my lengthy explanation. i suppose i hadn’t given much thought to how odd the entire thing was until given the opportunity to share the details of it. this island has a funny habit of making me feel almost foolish at times.”
“but, you said it sounded familiar? or were you sparing me the embarrassment of sounding entirely fictitious, hm?” isa might be simply that kind after all. he wondered how the other division leaders might have told the tale differently, how each might have brought up those differing motivators and challenges, where they came from and how they had ended up wielding a microphone each.
it was difficult not to think of shinjuku, especially when jakurai had so willingly mentioned it, but as silence fell between the two parties he found himself thinking more on it. there were things he could not voice, not yet. perhaps another time beneath the stars, when isa’s company was a comfort and his guilt was not to heavy upon his soul, he might speak of yotsutsuji then. of his dear friend, lying in that hospital bed.
isa’s reply brought him back to reality and once he returned, he reached for the glass of complimentary water. in doing so, his fingers brushed against the back of isa’s palm, such a slight and almost unnoticeable touch and yet he did notice it instantly. just the smallest fragment of skin against skin, and when he moved away it was not a sharp recoil, but a slower and smoother pull back until he could tip the glass to his lips.
perhaps he was getting a little too comfortable. it was certainly unusual for him to feel so relaxed after all.

While the buns in her hair were no more – the pressure had started giving her more of a headache than how this situation was turning out. As lovely as the island she picked was, there was want for more shelter. It’d taken a few of them time – lots of time – to figure out some housing for them. After taken a liking to one of the trees for shelter, Edelgard’s main priority was to explore.
It was warmer, much warmer than Enbarr, but contained such beautiful landscapes. The tropics were one thing they didn’t back home, and she was more than enthralled to take a hike. Her white hair swished at the back, pulled into a high ponytail in preparation. Though she’d been more than prepared to venture on her own, she couldn’t deny that company would be welcome.
❛ Have you ever seen anything like this? I wonder what these broad trees are named. They seem to have some fruit growing from them. ❜
@medicinial
lavender tugged into a neat ring of elastic, lilac wass left to sway with every movement the doctor makes. with such a warm climate there was certainly a pressing need to lift that abundance of hair from his neck and thus it sat tied and collected in a high rising ponytail.
his company seemed to have a similar notion, the pair of them better equipped now to venture within the humidity of the isle. “if i’m not mistaken, those look like coconuts.” his eyes glance towards the top of the tree and, sure enough, the fruit to which the lady gestured were indeed the very same dark coloured fruit.
“perhaps we should find a way of taking some back down the pathway to the others. the meat of a coconut is incredibly healthy, in fact.” jakurai’s gaze drifted back to edelgard with a small chuckle. “there might be some on the ground around here. i don’t think either of us would do too well attempting to climb up that tree after all.”

He’s happy – he doesn’t need to fake it. The smile on his face widens as he squeezes Jakurai tighter… at least his best friend is here with him. Sure, he does feel awfully lost with no one else around but that’s all right. There’s bound to be answers somewhere, and maybe if he has time he’ll try to figure some of this out!
If Jakurai hasn’t been here long, though, he probably has questions too. Ramuda lets go of the much taller man he rocks back on his heels, eyes wide as he looks up at the other.
“Mm! I haven’t. I woke up this morning and everything was different. All my stuff is gone and I was in a whole new place!” he closes his eyes, his expression exasperated as he frowns. “But at least I had a lot of sweets there. Whoever put me in this new apartment must really know me pretty well.”
As he opens his eyes again he tilts his head far back to look up at the other. The height difference always was amusing, and even moreso since the two were in a rap group and therefore frequently seen together. Ramuda lets out a little laugh and reaches for Jakurai’s sleeve, excited. “Let’s go explore! And then, maaaaaybe, we’ll figure out what’s really happening!”
ramuda’s boundless energy saw jakurai smile; lips curving as he regarded the other’s positivity despite the unease of their situation. ramuda was curious in that regard, as he was in so many, and his reaction was prompting far more intrigue in the doctor’s mind than usual. of course, this was still a game wasn’t it? finding the clues and answers, a way of coping perhaps? a chuckle parted his lips as he began to walk with ramuda clinging to his arm.
“ it would be hard to rule this as a simple case of shared amnesia, but the familiarity of the room you own and the fact that my clothes were all present and accounted for leaves me with more questions than answers. “ he explained, musing aloud his thoughts really as they began to move. the island was beautiful, especially on a sunny day like this. at least, he thought, they were lost somewhere peaceful and not tossed into a war-torn mess. “ perhaps we should try to find a place with information about the island, if such a thing exists. “
his mind ran to local tourist spots and how often they sported leaflets or similar items of use. but then, the island seemed... massive. if such a place really existed, how on earth would they find it? a trolley sounded in the distance, the dinging of the bell and the wheels clunking along the track drawing jakurai’s attention. he gestured, with his hand free of ramuda’s grip, to it as it docked at the stop sign for the area. “ let’s make use of this, we can get a better view of the area with it at least. “

|| █ ▌— while hifumi has not experienced any change to himself, he has noticed that the general average age has… slid down quite a bit, hasn’t it? or is it his imagination? hifumi is not always the most observant person when it comes to the details of things, but certainly something in the general air of the city seems off, and hifumi figures he will put the pieces together in time. for now, the goal is to latch onto someone familiar to him.
jakurai is not overly difficult to find, hifumi starts near his housing and works from there. when he finds the doctor, however, he pauses. while not observant when it comes to the details of things around him, he’s fairly astute when it comes to people he knows. two decades or so with doppo will do that to a person, or perhaps a near-decade in his line of work, or perhaps he’s just naturally attuned to others. still, it’s clear that something is fairly off.
the doctor appears… different somehow. around the eyes more than anything, but the more hifumi looks, the more he can see it in the little details of him. a curious head tilt is the only indication that he’s actually noticed anything, though. still… only one way to find out what’s going on. hifumi just… shrugs, approaching the doctor with the same casual air he normally would. ❝ sensei, there’s totally something going on, right? people are acting super duper weird around here !! ❞
@medicinial // proxy event !!
needless to say, jakurai was on high alert. there was no use trying to remain wallowing in the hows and whys of it all ( how he’d gotten here, why he was here at all ) when the environment itself desired his fullest attention. no sooner had he began walking the streets of the island, in some attempt to seek out more answers than the bare minimum he’d been left with, someone had already approached him. blonde, somewhat extravagant in their manner, but relaxed despite the confusion in the air, this stranger spoke to him. directly so.
jakurai’s brows furrowed. was it normal for people here to simply strike up such casual conversations with those they did not know? unfortunately for hifumi, this version of his friend was unused to it, was unused to it all in general. whilst he appeared so similar, he was several years younger in fact and thus yet to become acquainted with the host. from a decade of silence he had emerged as a man of medicine, but from the dawn of his hiatus’s end, this jakurai had seemingly been plucked.
“ i’m afraid i cannot help you. “ he chose to reply short and curt, a hand raised as if to keep their space separate and not allow the other closer. “ i’m searching for answers myself, so i’m unable to guide you. “ perhaps a little too harsh. he sighed.

“–it’s alright,” came the sigh, an ease forced over his shoulders with the expelled breath. Curiosity was not something to scorn, not at this level. Enough was given away, no doubt, to pique interest and further the want to know, but there was fortune to be found in the respect offered once boundaries were set. To not be pushed and locked into a corner, left to squirm – no, no. Nothing of the sort, that sort of company was behind him; left in the dust of the organization.
Briefly, once more, Isa let himself simply listen; drinking in that voice with a down-cast stare. His plate, still unfinished, sat in his sights yet remained unseen – looking passed it. Topic aside, he found himself taking advantage of this: when Jakurai spoke. Sitting quietly and tuning in, perhaps a little more intently than he should. Always observational, surely, but this held a difference… he couldn’t put a finger on it.
It didn’t matter. All of it cast away with another breath as he pulled himself towards his plate, again. Arms remained crossed, albeit lazily; eased on the tables edge, a hand rested at his inner elbow while the other rose with a utensil to resume eating. “…considering the strings that needed pulling in order to make some ends meet, I might actually believe that.” Ah, there it was – a smile, and dash of short humor to try and lighten the mood again.
“What about you, Jakurai. Speaking of past occupations… have you dabbled in anything else, or has a medical position always been a more suitable placement for you?” Isa’s held the spotlight long enough, it was time to redirect it. He’s played his part and read his lines, revealing more than he thought to when this little date of theirs started. Let the tables turn some. “… you certainly are humble enough to fit a different field, no doubt.”
a smile returned to his face as isa’s compliment burns the skin of his ears a fraction; crimson blossoming in a quiet, gentle hue. of course, he’s never been a stranger to compliments and at times they had felt almost mandatory with his role, this pillar of knowledge somehow capable of things it seemed no normal man ought to be. but still, there was something in the manner with which isa spoke those words which saw them trigger such a reaction, yet not enough for jakurai’s gaze upon isa to waver however. he fixed him still with that interested look, unable to glance away for long.
“ my profession was a little different before becoming a practitioner, but still in the field of medicine. “ he need not mention his other role, that of someone capable of taking a life and not preserving it in the way he did now. instead, his fingers wove together beneath his chin as he allowed isa the silence to eat, taking the floor as suggested with his reply in the meantime. “ i served as a medic during a time of war in my world. i suppose i haven’t talked much about that place have i? “
another sip of his drink was taken before he continued.
“ it is rather complex, but war threatened to an endless state in the world, until traditional means of weaponry was removed and replaced. since then, my role has changed in more than one way. “ in many ways, it had made his life in spirale so unusual; the disconnect from what his life had previously been like compared to what it was now. fortunately, he was no stranger to adapting himself. jakurai went on to explain to isa about the role of the divisions, his position within the group matenrou; the silver wolves of shinjuku. he began to explain the purpose of the hypnosis microphone before catching sight of isa’s expression as he started speaking.
“ i apologise, your question wasn’t about any of this. i imagine i’m spinning quite the tale for you, isa. “

@medicinial // planned event starter!
The lollipop hangs loosely from Ramuda’s lips as he wanders, a skip in his step. He waves at different girls and gives them a flirty little wink, though his mind is on other things at the moment.
This is a strange city that he woke up in, and he’s not sure what’s going on exactly. He does wonder if any of his fellow Dirty Dawg members are around but he hasn’t seen a single person he recognizes, and though it’s clear that this is a completely different world from his own he still wants to understand it, at least.
He pauses as he stops in the middle of ‘the star trail’ as he spots long lilac hair. A genuine smile crosses his face as he bounds through the crowd of people as he catapults onto Jakurai’s back, arms around his neck as he makes a happy sound.
“Found you, Jakurai~!!”
it seemed that the general mood of the city was one of mixed confusion; people milling about appeared unsure of what to do, the masses generally perplexed and jakurai was easily counted among them. he remembered very little from directly before waking up in this strange place, besides that of making plans with ramuda a few nights prior. for a moment, he feared that perhaps he’d been convinced to drink something last night, but there really was no evidence to suggest it... that and the state of confusion was widespread after all, not just specifically him.
a few people he had passed had stopped him to ask if he knew where they were. he had shaken his head, lilac tumbling about his cheeks as he had done. it felt rather helpless to have no answers at all. it was an island, that much was obvious, but why he was there...and why some of the people smiled at him as if they knew him, he couldn’t quite grasp. he’d been in the direction of his home once again, when a body slammed into his. although on his guard, there was only one person who would treat him such a way, to which his eyes widened in surprise.
“ amemura ! “ some sense of relief washed over him as jakurai did his best not to let the smaller man fall. “ you’re here as well? i hope you’ve learned a little more about the circumstances here than i have... “

“ ohhh, it’s okay, i’m just messing with you!! can’t say there’s anything to complain about when i got some candy in the end – what’s a little manhandling, hm? ”
if anyone should be sorry, it’s ranpo – but because it’s ranpo, he absolutely isn’t, and the percentage at which he should feel sorry was going to grow exponentially within this conversation anyway… unfortunately for this poor, kind doctor.
“ bravery, huh… such kind praise! i’m sure they’d be happy to hear that. ” ranpo claps his hands together suddenly then, as if remembering something. “ oh yeah!! i have a question for you! i haven’t been here long myself, but you seem to be quite settled here. has anyone died under your care, sensei? do you know the death and murder rate here? i’m quite curious, but i’m sure someone of your background would know. ”
truthfully, he was about to end the interaction there. he could very easily have walked away, bidding a polite farewell and going about his day, alas little did he know that he had been snared into a conversation with someone who was not about to release him just yet, someone with more morbid concerns than free candy and lollipops. his expression shifted; jakurai’s eyes widening partially before he cleared his throat. such a topic was not commonly mentioned, mostly out of respect for those which might have passed away, let alone brought to life between strangers in the street. “ well, “ he began, a finger rising to place against his chin in thought.
“ i don’t feel too comfortable discussing such things so frankly. patient care is my primary concern, but so is their privacy. that being said, fortunately death is not frequent for those i treat. “ indeed, his care was that excellent. “ since i began working here, my treatment rate has been one-hundred percent. as for the death and murder rates, i’m unsure. i’m probably not the best person to ask in that regard. “ his background, hm. interesting.

⤜ starter !! *:・゚✧ ╱ @medicinial
of all things altaïr had learned ( practice till you can’t get back up ) climbing was the skill he knew best; nothing like the claims of his brothers. for anyone can kill, but few can get away with it. & get away with it he did — quick feet a silent scuff on rooftops, fingers dexterous grip on sheer walls. he was a master at his trade. & oh, how the assassin loved heights ( an eagles view ). to be good at something, truly good at something, you enjoyed was one of the only real blessings of living. but this city was a new jungle gym & he was just as cocky ( if not more so ) as malik claimed. a dog with its tail between its legs showing up at the doctor’s door with nothing but a guilty smile to match the torn bloody sleeve & the hope he didn’t break anything, again.
patients had fizzled in their numbers as the sun had began to set on the spirale horizon, the day winding to a close as most of the day staff grabbed their coats and bid farewell. but the lavender-haired volunteer had opted to stay a few more hours, as his reputation already foretold, this godlike wonder who bowed his head to bid goodbye to his fellow colleagues. he had been just about ready to make a cup of coffee when the automatic doors opened and in stumbled a face jakurai had not expected to see once more; the thief from the street.
“ you— “ his eyes fell to the blood and then to mess of his arm. “ in here. “ he gestured to the free bay, to an empty bed for him to sit upon. “ what happened. don’t tell me you tried to rob someone capable of fighting back — “
