if it comes out before the finale airs, kat’s interview is going to go like this.
kat: the goodbye scene in 8x10 was really emotional, but also a bit awkward. what choices went into that scene, specifically the hug?
oliver: were we awkward? i guess we were. yeah Im not sure, to be honest I just read the script and act out what it says. and I guess for that scene tim wanted it to be a bit awkward
ryan: yeah. i mean when you’ve known someone for so long that you’re brothers, its hard to say goodbye right? The scene was actually supposed to be a lot more emotional, but then we talked to tim and thought the awkwardness would play better. like you never thought you would say goodbye to this person right? And I think thats why the hug is so emotional too. its like, youre my best friend, my brother, my pillar of strength. what am I going to do without you in my life? and thats why they dont want to let go. losing that pillar of support isnt nothing, its like losing everything
oliver: 😁☺️🤨 yeah its so hard for them. and I mean thats why buck cant let go I think. and its crushing for buck, I think, when eddie drives away, maybe in a way he doesnt fully understand yet. now what does that mean I dont know. im not really saying one way or another, just that the goodbye affects buck in a way none of his other goodbyes or break ups ever have before.
ryan: 🥰 yeah. and I think it really shows just how vulnerable they can be with each other. like it shows that straight or bi or whatever that nothing can ever change their relationship, they will always be that pillar or support for each other. and you see that in some of the later scenes, not even the distance can knock them down
kat: ✍️✍️✍️✍️✍️ right. speaking of its not nothing, lets go back a bit, to the scene in the truck ….
#this is on point hahaha#cue RG waxing poetic about Buck and Eddie’s relationship only to throw in a desperate brother#911#Buddie

Being a 911 fan is crazy because we could be getting buddie roommates and Bobby calling 911 from his coffin and even a buddie almost kiss tonight and the celebrations would be absolutely wild OR Bobby could just be dead dead and Eddie has two lines and we get no good buddie content and we crash out and fall into a pit of despair and some of us decide to give up on the show... Like that stuff isn't for the weak. And it really feels like both options exist right now. Schrodinger's 8x16.

How did we get from 7x4 - "a love letter to the fans" (which it was!) to 8x16 - "dead MC, fake script page and telling fans via a mom who lost their kid that they're delusional“?
That’s a big fat change on the writer's end…

Ryan: My character isn’t part of this storyline and neither am I.
hey remember when bobby died and ryan reposted a fanedit of bobby with a pink bow set to louis armstrong's what a wonderful world. like. everyone else followed the assignment with their weirdly worded goodbye posts but ryan was like i ain't doing all that ✌️🎀 and then remember when bobby's funeral happened and ryan posted a photo of peter like this -> 😃 set to angel by sarah mclachlan with the most unserious caption imaginable. no one's doing it like him actually. man was like, rip to bobby but i'm different

new madney baby is gonna have the craziest in utero stories ever. like, oh yeah my mom got her throat slit by a serial killer whilst she was pregnant with me, and my dad? oh he got infected with modified super ebola in a lab explosion.

i've said this before but i think this show was at its best when the opening season disasters set up some themes/storylines that continued on into the season. i think the tsunami arc was so great not just because those eps themselves were high quality, high drama, great effects, wonderful character moments etc., but because of how the eps set up some stuff that lingered for so many characters. for may, for buck, for chris; just to name a few.
the past few seasons we haven't had that. i enjoyed beenado and the plane landing but if you removed that from the season does it affect anything that's happened since?

If you’re mad that people are mad that Eddie Diaz isn’t in this episode then you shouldn’t be watching the show.
The show is - at its core - a family who is deeply bonded by traumatic events and codependent on different levels.
Eddie Diaz, whether you like him or not, is apart of this messy family.
While yes, this episode was very well written and honestly one of the best episodes of its entire series, it should have had a small snippet of Eddie.
Not to say that not having it made the episode bad, it just felt like we were missing something
Especially because it could have made the next episode or so much more emotional for the fact Eddie is racing to get to get to LA and help in anyway he could but can’t for X reason as a subplot (think of the angst guys💔)
Again, this isn’t me being an Eddie Stan or wtv, this is just on the fact that Eddie is apart of the 118 family and he probably wasn’t even told that said family is in a very stressful situation

Preferably at the end of ep. 14, so the audience thinks that phew, at least those two are safe… and then they arrive in the city right when a virus is on the loose.
Whoops.
the "father-son road trip" line is absolutely foreshadowing eddie and chris driving back to la together <3

"You're going to be my dad again?" is one of the saddest lines of this show. Up there with "Love me anyway" and "I got out of the ocean for you."

As someone who likes all ships and all parties in the Eddie + Buck + Tommy scenario (why yes I would LOVE to see more Tommy/Eddie, let’s wake that up), it bums me out to see shippers completely mischaracterize the other person “in the way” of their ship. I get that it’s a part of ship war culture, but I think ship war culture is stupid, so.
Like I’ve sadly gotten used to hardcore Buddies twisting everything about Tommy, no matter how innocuous, to be evil and predatory and wrong, because he has to be those things to make the vitriol against him make sense. They’re at “bitch eating crackers” level with him, I get it. (God forbid we just say “I don’t like a character” and then stop talking about said character, am I right[/sarcasm].) The fact is we still don’t know a TON about Tommy, it’s just that those of us who like him extrapolate positive things about his character and others do the opposite.
But Bucktommy posts about Eddie being a bad friend, just using Buck for childcare, never reciprocates what other people do for him, etc. confuse me even more because like what do you MEAN. Eddie’s flawed, of course, and when he gets mad or feels cornered he’ll lash out with things he doesn’t mean (people love to trot out “you’re exhausting,” but for my money “hundred something bodies on you”/“go to hell, Bobby” is the worst thing he’s ever said and it’s NOT close). And yes, Eddie very much did blow up his own life last season! He’s not perfect. But this is also the same guy who delivered such bangers as “there’s no one in this world I trust with my son more than you” and “you’re not all knowing and all-seeing, Bobby, you’re just a good man.” I feel like he has a knack for saying the one thing that could get through to the person he’s communicating with, y’know? I’ve said forever that Buck is an acts of service bitch and Eddie is a words of affirmation bitch and I stand by that.
(Now I maintain that I don’t particularly love how they’ve written him this season, but that’s neither here nor there.)

btw if they make it so that chris isn't actually all that interested in chess and just kind of felt pressured into it by ramon I'm going to need to take a long fucking walk in the woods
#this has been my headcanon since they mentioned chess for the first time#it would be soooo good#and Eddie had a reason to confront them since they pressured him into do much too#911 spoilers

I think it's hilarious how the one thing that has united this shipwar is Bucktommys and Buddies agreeing that poor Buck needs to be consoled à la Bones after whatever happens with Bobby.
Meanwhile I'm curious about which man - Tommy or Eddie - gets to do it.

It's so f*CKING funny to see the different acting styles here:
Aisha and Gerard's actor: *quiet, concentrated*
Lou and Ryan: COME AT ME BRO *joking around*
Anirudh: haha
Kenneth: *nomnomnom*
Oliver: Still Buck, barely holding it together, on the verge of crying
I may not be able to hear a damn bring, but I don’t need that to clearly see that Ryan is NOT happy here
