It felt like it's been years since I last watched anything related to butai. And within a year and 7 months of working, I was able to purchase this single movie because minimum salary compensation, yeah and I'm almost broke.

Anyway, this is a recording of DMM version only since it's the cheapest I can afford. Also my first time contributing to the community so yeah. First time recording a video and it's a little, well, I hope it's tolerable.

A: Fluffy. (lol)

Q004: What is the charm point of your body?

A: My fingers. I’m told that they’re long and narrow.

Q005: What is a complex you have?

A: [My] Atopic dermatitis.

Q006: What is something you always find yourself eating?

A: Beef Jerky!!

Q007: Your favorite drink?

A: Calpis!

Q010: The music that you like?

A: I like J-Pop, specifically Funky Monkey Babys and Porno graffiti. My favorite Funky Monkey Babys song is “Koi no Katamichi Kippu”.

**He really likes Funmon!! He’s mentioned before that he listens to them before going onstage to hype him up. 

Q011: A manga that you like?

A: There’s a lot but… probably Death Note. From middle school to high school, each week I would excitedly wait for the new chapter and read it in Weekly Jump.

Q013: A movie that you like?

A: Because I like comedy genre, maybe “Sister Act”.

Q014: A TV show that you like?

A: Matsuko Kaigi! It’s funny!

Q015: Your favorite color?

A: Violet. I also like red and blue.

Q016: A vehicle that you like?

A: Cars! I used to often go on drives when I was a university student.

Q017: Your favorite place?

A: My house. I feel most calm in my own home.

Q021: Something you treasure?

A: My fans! Would you call that sly… But it’s the truth! 

Q027: If you had a vacation for one whole week, what would you do?

A: I’ll stay indoors for about two days, and then I’ll go have a meal with people I don’t usually meet because we’re always busy. But I also want to travel…

Q029: When do you feel happy?

A: Whenever the curtains of the stage lift and close down. You’ll never experience the feeling of hearing applause in the dark and the happiness that transcends with it anywhere else. 

Q032: When do you feel most pumped up?

A: Before a play starts. While I hang around backstage, I get pumped up (lol). When we practice sword fighting, and my breathing pattern perfectly matches my opponent’s. In Tousute, whenever I do sword fight with Suzuki Hiroki, that happens a lot and it gets me pumped up. 

Q036: A song you’re proud of singing in Karaoke?

A: Funky Monkey Babys and Porno graffiti songs. I also often sing ORANGE RANGE’s “Hana”. 

Q039: What is your coping mechanism for when you’re feeling troubled by something?

A: Sleep. When I sleep, I’ll feel refreshed when I wake up!

Q043: What part of you makes you think to yourself, “I’m still a kid, huh”?

A: I hate losing. Even losing to a friend when we do “Juice Janken” makes me frustrated.

A: I want to be a cat and be loved and pampered. (Lol)

A: A dog. I’m often told that I’m like a dog.

Translation of Aramaki Yoshihiko's Curtain Call Speech for the Last Show of Tousute Jiden (08/04/19)

I feel like I had to share this with everyone, because of how important this curtain call is to me. Within Makki's entire 2.5D career, I'm pretty sure this is the first time he has ever cried in a curtain call. Much of it I feel can be attributed to the story itself, and to the feelings that has piled up in all 60 runs of the show, and the fact that there is a big chance he might not be part of the next Tousute.

Read at your own risk, there are Tousute Jiden spoilers within this post.  

I’m Aramaki Yoshihiko, who plays Yamanbagiri Kunihiro. Thank you to everyone who spent their time with us here in Stellar Ball and to everyone watching the live viewing today. A total of 60 performances for Butai Touken Ranbu Jiden: Hibi no Ha Yo Chiruramu. Within these 60 performances, the cast and the staff, and even those who are not in this stage right now — Naya Takeru who played Sayo Samonji, Kitagawa Naoya who played Honebami Toushirou, and Shiina Taizo who played Fudou Yukimitsu — we all still carry the feelings of those three within us who are standing in front of you. I’m sure those three all wanted to be in this last show with everyone too, but right now we will do their greetings in their stead. With this story and all of Tousute’s history up until now, I have been able to perform in 231 performances. Within all those performances, a lot of things have piled up; not just the battles, but also the everyday life [of swords], have become important things to me. Once again, I would like to express my feelings of gratitude. Suzuki Hiroki who plays Mikazuki Munechika, who has has entrusted to me the position of zachou*, Since the very beginning in Kyouden, Saien, Giden, Gaiden, Jyoden, Hiden and up until now, I have been able to overcome all this because of those who have supported me like the staff, But even more so it is because of the people who love and support Butai Touken Ranbu. Thank you so much.

Today, the truth is that the moon is a crescent moon*, I think that it’s such a wonderful thing. And I thought the same too during Gaiden, That during the most important times, And during times when I’m suffering, When I can’t keep it all in my chest, I look up to the moon and think “Mikazuki is right there. That Mikazuki…Mikazuki becomes my power.” [He starts crying here.] Yes, in order to become the sun that illuminates the moon, I will embark on my journey (Kiwame). Yamanbagiri Kunihiro will go on his journey in order to become stronger. That’s why, from Mikazuki too, and from Gokotai too, the strength I received from the chestnuts and from everyone here, I promise that I want to make a Yamanbagiri Kunihiro who has grown to be much stronger appear again in front of everyone. So from here on too, I’m counting on your continued support for Butai Touken Ranbu.

*mikazuki = crescent moon *zachou - is the “main” character of a stage play and essentially the person/actor who guides all the other characters/actors.

Very roughly translated as I myself haven’t recovered yet but I feel like I had to share his beautiful words with everybody.

P.S. He doesn’t stop crying until the screen fades to black. We love you, Manba-chan. Thank you for always letting his feelings reach us, Mr. Aramaki Yoshihiko. We’ll patiently await your return.

JULY 7, 2019 / A TRANSLATION OF ARAMAKI YOSHIHIKO'S TANABATA WISH AS YAMANBAGIRI KUNIHIRO

Alright, since he mentioned it across different platforms and I found a report as well I'm translating those! For context, today is Tanabata, a Japanese event where they make wishes for a da

So first he mentioned this on his tweet,

千秋楽の挨拶、途中で頭が働かなくなってしまって上手く纏められなかったけれど 今日お願いした願い事を持って、��る32公演駆け抜けたいと思います。

For today's last show's [in Osaka] curtain call, my head suddenly stopped working along the way so I wasn't able to end my greeting properly. My wish for today is to safely conquer and run through the remaining 32 performances for this play.

Next, he mentioned the incident again on his FC blog/e-mail, which I'm not allowed to explicitly put here so this is merely a rundown of what he said:

-He said he wrote it on twitter already, but his Tanabata wish for today is that may they be able to safely finish all remaining performances safely. And then he said that he has said this during the last show's [in Osaka] curtain call already, but he carries a second wish with him today. "May I meet Mikazuki again someday." For that wish to come true, he said he would like to run through the remaining performances. And then he explained that in the end of his greeting in the curtain call, he lost energy and his head literally stopped working and that he started spacing out, and confirmed that he has to sleep properly tonight (please).-

Then lastly, I read what actually went down during the infamous curtain call from a report thread on twitter:

Tousute Osaka Last Show Curtain Call/Stage Greeting: Yamanbagiri Kunihiro "I'm Aramaki Yoshihiko, who plays Yamanbagiri Kunihiro. Today is Tanabata, so I made two wishes. The first one which I have already written on my SNS: For not a single person within this company to get hurt until the last performance. And then, my other wish: May I meet Mikazuki Munechika again in this citadel. I don't think it's a wish that can come true by just wishing, but if I don't wish for it, it can't come true either. Within this continuous battle I have inherited [from him], I hope to welcome him back here someday. So everyone, please wish for it too! Wish for it with your heart, wait- you can't! (he means literally lol, it's kinda hard to translate and contextualize from now on cause I assume this is where he starts losing it HAHAHA) You can spend your days wishing for it, right? Wouldn't that be nice? (the tweet explicitly states "chaos" from here on so I assume the entire cast and audience is just laughing at him rambling at this point) I think that'll be good!"

To which Wada Masanari interjects, "And you've been doing so well too! But halfway through your cuteness just has to come through, huh?"

And Makki continues speaking, "I wanted them to spend the day [tanabata]! Naya Takeru, Kitagawa Naoya, have connected the baton properly Until Hyogo and Tokyo's remaining 22 performances are finished, I am looking forward to your continued support!"

And then OP adds "Let's all welcome Mikazuki back." in reference to Makki's wish LOL

And basically that's it! Makki said he wished for Manba to meet Mikazuki again, and then his brain cells suddenly stopped working (which I interpreted as Manba gay panicking when he realized he said he wanted to meet Mikazuki again LOL) and then it's just chaos from there. Hopefully this gets included in the BD/DVD extra contents because I can't wait to watch it unfold!

Hello dear anon!

While I encourage you, at some point if possible, to get your hands on the manga, I know it can be very hard to find copies since Tokyo Pop went under years ago :( If you hunt on Amazon and Rightstuff, you can still find copies, I’ve gotten manga for practically 1 dollar for some volumes!

Want more Saiyuki? Well you’re in luck my friend! There’s a tooooon of Drama CDs to listen to! What’s a drama CD? You can listen to it while you read the manga, for the most part it’s a word for word retelling of the story!

A couple of things to know:

Gensomaden Saiyuki is the first series, which follows Saiyuki Vol 1 - 5/6 then from episode 25 (I think) and on is a pretty good filler arc.

Saiyuki Reload is the second anime series. It completes Saiyuki Vol 6/7 - 9. Saiyuki Gunlock has episodes about chapters from Saiyuki Reload. However, be warned, they went their own path with the final arc of the series and, well, let’s just say some people are not fond of it.

Saiyuki Gaiden and Saiyuki Ibun are prequels of the main story. Gaiden features the past lives of Sanzo, Hakkai, and Gojyo as they care for a young Goku. Ibun is a story that focuses on Sanzo’s master, Koumyou, when he was younger.

The manga is currently updated sporadically, we may get a chapter every 2 months, we may not. Sadly our favorite manga artist is ill quite often.

PLEASE HELP ME AND MY FAMILY

Few months ago I started asking for donations because my sister’s husband left with another woman and has move to another country. We didn’t know where excacly. He doesn’t pay for anything, he doesn’t send any money. He is a piece of shit. He was homophobic towards me, he cheated on her when she was pregnant. He was controlling and jealous of everything. But my sister stayed with him because of the child.

Also she had to leave the place they live for the last 9 years because it was bought by his parents and they told her to move out. They never liked her and us because my family is poor.

She is back now in our parents home where I sill live too. There’s only two small rooms in the house, kitchen and one bathroom. All of this for 5 people now. They sleep on the floor in my bedrooom.

Also a two months ago my sister had a car accident and her car was completely trash. And she needs one because we live 5km from school and there’s no bus on my street or the next one.

For the last couple of months we raised 843$. It goes for bills, school payments and supplies and meds.

My sister is really depressed now and we need to help her with everything. She started taking antidepressands. They are not cheap and she still doesn’t work. So I ask you to help us a little more, maybe a month or two. You can find the rest information here.

Also we all are strugling so much. We only have my father’s pension. that’s 1300zl for five people for the entire month. My health is not letting me work right now. I have asthma attacks almost every day. and I may have SM like my mom. Right now i don’t have money to buy meds. I’m 2 months behind with my bills.This is all the money I have:
