Oh no, it wasn’t usual to serve so much good food for a slave, even a gladiator, a champion. But Gannicus needed more to get back on his feet quickly, and win again for Dominus in the arena… Kade cut one more apple he put on Gannicus’ disposal before raising his head again to him.

“You sure?” He didn’t expect sharing a bit of his meal, Kade wasn’t champion after all… but that was nice. Generous. “Gratitude,” he smiled, putting a bit of apple between his lips. Apples wouldn’t grow in Egypt, but gods he missed the taste of sweetness…

To be honest, Kade knew that this situation was one of the kind. The only reason he was send to the champion was because sending women too early would open wounds that needed to heal first. With a man, Gannicus would just eat and rest, as he should, and later he could celebrate his victory – if Dominus still wanted to reward him. Dominus was preparing him to attend guests, sure, but the excuse to practice with Gannicus wouldn’t last.

Soon, Kade will cut apples for Roman mouths. Serve wine for Roman cups. And more. As Gannicus says: they do what they can to stay on Dominus’ good side.

“You should try to rest a little, now. The wine will help you sleep.”

“Of course,” he nodded again. Being careful was the key, or else both men knew what was coming for them. They will need to plan this, to use their time well, and to be efficient. Now that he had Gannicus’ approval, Kade could start planning all this in his mind.

“Oh well!” the Egyptian chuckled, standing up to hold the basket that was still waiting for them. “You got fresh bread, still warm. Fruits.” Oh Gannicus was really spoiled, tonight! Kade took one of the apples and the little knife, starting to cut it in regular parts. Then he put them on a plate, and hold it to the gladiator. “If you’re satisfied with me, you could ask dominus to see me more. I think he is preparing me to do that more often... I mean, with guests.”
