I'm not editing the dried up leaves stuck in her curly tendrils. It reminds me how she loved to belly up and roll in the most disgusting smells. But it made her happy. If she was happy, I was happy. I never really understood what people meant by heart dog. It's sad that it took losing mine to understand. Maeby was the type of dog that I could come home to from a terrible no good rotten day & everything would melt away. She would greet me at the door. Her tail would thump ecstatically. I could bury my face in her soft fur. Smell her comfort. She was my 55 lb lap dog who followed me everywhere. Who would stare deep into my eyes & tell me she loved me. That everything would be okay. Even when she wasn't. Because we had each other. She was a fighter & a lover. I'll never forget her sweet soul. My heart dog. .

I haven't let you all know because everything is so overwhelming but she's gone. I want to write something profound because she is deserving of all the love. I'm too sad. I wanted to bring her body home & hold her. Rest in peace to the sweetest dog I've ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with. My heart will forever be full because of Maeby. Thank you for loving her. And us. I'm hurting but she's not anymore. When will I stop crying though?

Taking Maeby on a hike with a friend tomorrow. They want to do 3.5 miles. Kinda nervous to see how she does. She sleeps a lot now. She had a hard time jumping in the car. She won't jump up and hug me like she used to. I'd say she's had lymphoma for a month now. With her estimated life being 2-3 months I'm just nervous all around.

Dogblr fam asked for Maeby's Amazon wish list. So I posted it on my Instagram too. she got so much good stuff in the mail yesterday. We feel so loved! I hate not knowing exactly how much longer she has. Sometimes I forget she has cancer. Other times she reminds me. I've been so lucky to have a place to vent & people to give love. Thank you!

One time my husband & I took Maeby camping alone. I'll never forget it because she was so bad and so good. She ripped my body out of a folding chair because 2 wild horses got too close to our camp & I was holding her leash. She slept quietly & snuggly in the tent. In the morning we let her off leash at the spring. After a few sips she took off bounding over 2 ft roots. I saw her head joyfully bopping every few seconds over weeds. She returned to me 5 minutes later like nothing had happened. I happily leashed her thru tears if frustration & knowing she came back to me.

I can't get Maeby to rough house play and chomp on my feet like she used to and it's make me sad.

I forgot the flash was on but that's a serious red eye.

I am overwhelmed with sadness. Maeby has been diagnosed with lymphoma. Tonight we will discuss our treatment options. Either way it's not completely curable & her time is unknown. Please give your pet a hug, ear scratch, belly rub, extra treat. Time is too short.
