Ladies and gentlemen, I am NOT okay!

I'm beyond excited for this series (even though it won't start until 2026, whyyyy 😭), and right off the bat we have Todd and Viola as PARENTS?????? My babies lived! And we get to meet a new Hewitt boy and I cannot wait!

But I can't stop thinking about how concerned I am that the end of Monsters of Men alluded to a world where everyone opened themselves up to the Noise, and it seems like this trilogy went in the exact opposite direction. This quote in particular has got me nervous for what may have happened to the Spackle...

"The Noise was “cured” years ago, though some would argue “cure” is entirely the wrong word for the cost it extracted."

If the Noise has been "cured," how are the Spackle communicating (if they are even there at all)? How did Lee have to adjust from being blind and seeing through other people's Noise to being fully blind? What are Ben's thoughts on the world shutting itself off from the Noise when it became his primary means of communication?

I have a feeling that Todd, Viola, Ben, and several other main characters from the first trilogy are among those who would argue that "curing" the Noise came at too great a cost. And we won't get to find out until 2026.

But we also get to meet new characters, watch Todd and Viola help their son navigate the same horrific events that they did when they were young, and so much more. I never thought we'd get a sequel and I will be violently distracted until it comes out.

Does anyone else ever wonder how Viola had Todd’s mother’s book at the end of Monsters of Men? I was sure that it was in Todd’s tent, and he never grabbed it before the river was released and destroyed everything. The only thing that makes sense to me is that the Mayor was hoping the river would be released and that he and Todd would already be at the ocean, so he may have grabbed it and put it on the scout ship so it would be safe. 

There are so many weird layers to how much the Mayor actually cares for Todd. None of them necessarily make him redeemable, but he definitely wasn’t lying when he said that Todd changed him.

I’m just thinking about how Daisy Ridley announced forever ago that she did a film (referring to chaos walking) that was “not romantic,” and we all breathed a sigh of relief. And then Tom Holland went on to have the most obnoxious crush on Daisy’s character. Hollywood’s version of “not romantic” is still a one-sided romance. There would be nothing to their relationship in the movie if not for that. I’m still mad about it.
