It was such an heartbreaking scene, seeing Aureriel crying truly break him. She seemed so desperate, so hurt and all by his seriousness. "Don't say that..." He replied as he cupped her face in his hands, wiping her tears away. 

"You won't be alone, you will find someone better, someone who deserves you." 

It hurt the warden, he actually didn't like the fact she could be with someone else. However it had to be.

"Lady Aureriel…" Haldir sighed at the sudden request from the young Lady. "You shouldn’t ask me this, you can’t ask me this." He friendly stroked her cheek. "I’m sorry, that’s not possible." 

The warden didn’t want to break Aureriel’s heart or hurt her feelings and he apologetically kissed her forehead.

"H-Haldir?" Angie frowned in confusion, stepping into view. She was sweating slightly, one hand supporting her round belly.

"Angie !" He exclaimed as he saw her then rushed to her side before helping her. "By Valar, meleth you are alright... Come, quick."

"This would be disrespectful towards you and your parents, Aureriel. You have to understand."

It wasn't easy for Haldir, he did have feelings for the young Lady and he knew he shouldn't. And it was even worse to see how his words were crushing her heart. However he knew his place; he was the Marchwarden, respected, appreciated, strong and everything they could say but he was still just a warden.

It would be absurd to deny anything, especially in front of Galadriel, though she didn't seem angry. "You're right my Lady. I... mean, I never thought you would have this interest in me." 

If the warden once thought the Lord was inaccessible for him, he would never dare to dream about the Lady.

The sudden and highly unexpected wish from Lady Galadriel took the warden back. He surely didn’t except this from the Lady. 

"M-My Lady… I’m not sure I’m allowed to."

How it hurt the older elf to see Aureriel with such broken expression upon her face. He tried to ease but she seemed even more hurt. "Aureriel." He replied with a low and regretful voice. 

"You have grown up into a beautiful elleth but you're still young. And plus you are the dauther of Lord and Lady of Lorien. I'm the warden. You have to understand." With his thumb he gently stroked her cheek and wiped away the tears which threatened to fall.

"Well basically everywhere." Haldir chuckled then cupped her face then brought her closer for a kiss. "Let's start with this then."

The warden kept walking, keeping an eye on the hobbit following behind. "Raised up your chin, Peregrin. Curiosity is a good thing when it's controlled. I was rather curious myself in my younger years. My brothers were the same." 

Haldir just wanted to somewhat cheer up the hobbit however he wasn't sure how to proceed. He didn't meet a lot of hobbits in his life, he wasn't used to them.

After a moment they finally entered into the land of Lorien, it was now safe from any attack since they were surrounded by all the wardens. Haldir ordered with elvish words that some of the wardens walked with them to Caras Galadhon. "We are almost there, you could rest and eat."

 Pippin tried to blink away his tears as Haldir spoke, carefully and hesitantly running his tongue along the inside of his cheek, which felt sore and swollen from the blow. He didn’t want to cry in front of the elf, especially not after he had hit him, and when Haldir offered him his hand, Pippin took it gently, though he didn’t dare look the other in the eyes as he helped him up. He nodded simply when he was told to behave, staring down at his feet. He wished Merry was here to… he didn’t even know what Merry would have done, but he would certainly have cheered him up by nudging him with his elbow and whispering something naughty about elves, and he’d have put his hand on Pippin’s shoulder to show him that, while Pippin had really behaved very foolishly, he was still loved and cared for, and Pippin wanted that now.

 He followed Haldir back toward the path, hands clenched to fists at his sides. Not looking up from his feet, Pippin let out a quiet, shameful “‘M sorreh”, wiping his nose on his shoulder. He hadn’t meant to endanger anyone, he had just wanted to… look. It wasn’t his fault he was so curious - he was a Took, after all.
