First one, right? I believe the perfect opportunity to tell how I got back to drawing. I’ve started already about 10 years ago, back when I was studying in Moscow state university of design and technology. Since I left it, I never really thought I would get back to it, as everything I needed to do my job (product and then graphic design) was on the computer and the maximum drawing I would do was some doodle at the concept stage. And today I find myself extremely happy drawing for my own pleasure, not because I need it for my job. It might be very banal and not at all surprising, but the idea to start sketching smth in my NOTEbook kept coming to me in the last 2 trips to Barcelona. Moreover, I’ve always been curious about urban sketchers movement and my love for architecture has been reflected all these years in an endless camera roll, full of beautiful houses and city landscapes. So one drawing after another, some watercolor illustrations of my favorite places in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Barcelona, and Madrid - led me to create a project of, let’s say, my creative alter ego “margashova”. The blog is an idea of pushing myself to share weekly my favorite places through sketches on location and watercolor illustrations. Creo que es la oportunidad perfecta para explicar cómo he vuelto a dibujar. Empecé hace unos 10 años cuando estudiaba en la universidad de diseño y tecnología de Moscú. Desde que lo dejé, nunca pensé que volvería a ello, ya que todo lo que necesitaba para hacer mi trabajo (diseño de producto y luego gráfico) estaba en el ordenador y el dibujo máximo que haría era un doodle en la etapa conceptual. Y hoy me encuentro extremadamente feliz dibujando por placer, no porque lo necesite para mi trabajo. Podría ser muy banal y no es nada sorprendente, pero la idea de empezar a dibujar algo en mi cuaderno seguía llegando a mí en los últimos viajes a Barcelona. Por otra parte, siempre he tenido curiosidad sobre el movimiento de urban sketchers y mi amor por la arquitectura ha sido reflejado todos estos años en un interminable rollo de cámara, lleno de hermosas casas y paisajes de la ciudad. Así que hice un dibujo tras otro, ilustraciones en acuarela de mis lugares favoritos: Vitoria-Gasteiz, Barcelona y Madrid. Ésto acabó siendo el inicio de un proyecto de mi alter ego creativo, “margashova”. El blog es una idea para compartir semanalmente mis lugares favoritos a través de sketches on location y las ilustraciones de acuarela.
