The Ties to Time Bokan: Project X Zone (Oros Phlox)

The Oros Phlox group of Project X Zone is very similar to Yatterman’s Dorombo gang if they were more competent and on abigger scale. Where as the Dorombo gang try and fail to find pieces of the supposedly valuable Dokuro Stone, Oros Phlox havealready swiped their important artifact, the Portal Stone, for their own goals. Similar to Marjo’s Gang in the original Time Bokan, they team up with other antagonists to further their agenda.

The mysterious and seductive Due Flabellum is seemingly the leader of Oros Phlox, with the brothers Eins and Drei Belanos serving under her command. This sounds a lot like Doronjo, who is the head of the Dorombo gang and orders her two minons around, although Due is calm and collected while Doronjo can be impatient and reckless.

Eins Belanos is the lanky, somewhat aloof loser of the group similar to Boyacky, although he is neither highly intelligent nor does he invent mechas or gadgets.

Drei Belanos is the muscle of the group in a fashion comparable to Tonzura. He’s even voiced by Kazuya Tatekabe, Tonzura’s voice actor, in what was one of his last roles. Drei is a bit more level-headed and focused compared to Tonzura though.

The true leader of Oros Phlox is Meden Traore, who up until the end of the game (and the intro) is shrouded in mystery, similar to Dokurobei from Yatterman and various other bosses from the Time Bokan series.

It’s also revealed that Meden and the rest of Oros Phlox are manifestations of the Portal Stone itself. This too mirrors Dokurobei and the Dokuro Stone, in that the villains behind everything were said artifacts all along. Both also had well-meaning intentions that resulted in their respective messes. Dokurobei simply wanted to return to his home planet, while Meden wanted to unite various worlds into one for the betterment of their inhabitants.

Before anyone asks, I guess Namco x Capcom’s Saya and her minions could also be seen as counterparts to the Dorombo gang,but for various reasons too lengthy and off the subject to mention, I personally feel like she isn’t.

Sparks of Hope From Rosalina's Perspective Is HORRIFYING

Her children are irreversibly physically altered against their will.

She gets possessed, with little to no control over her own body.

Meaning she's forced to do the opposite of her sworn duty - corrupting the cosmos and essentially killing her own children instead of protecting them.

Cursa forces her to absorb the energy of her children not just for the sake of using that energy for herself, but to break Rosalina's spirit so that she stops fighting back against her control.

Given everything we know about Rosalina, this is literally the worst thing that could happen to her.

And yet...

She still puts others before herself, despite that being the reason her and Cursa fused in the first place (remember, Cursa was going for the Lumas for their energy at first, not Rosalina herself).

One of the few times she briefly breaks free of Cursa's control, she creates a portal so her friends can get away whilst giving them a reassuring smile.

When they help her break free permanently towards the end of the game, she specifically makes sure to stay between them and Cursa whilst joining the battle.

The entire game she keeps her cool, remains brave and fights Cursa till the end...

Then again this is the same woman who's first instinct after watching her children sacrifice themselves by flying into a black hole was to info dump to Mario about stars 😅

I guess it's hard to be emotionally scarred by anything when you've seen the universe recreate itself multiple times over.
