It was a long walk from the river to the little homely abode her and Miss Frieren decided to stay at for the time being. She often practiced by water or an open field, something about vast expansion giving her the opportunity to go all out. When she finished, she took the peace as a sign of something coming.
As she came over the hill, the odd man was hunched over, on the dirt ground. For half a second, she was going to walk past him but she figured it wouldn't hurt to ask, " On the outskirts of Wille Region. How did you end up on the ground? " She glances around for anybody else, but finds just him.
@magefern
"Huh?" When they woke up, it seemed they were in a different place.. All they remember is Nikolai defending himself and sending them elsewhere... But the demon wasn't expecting a place like this...
"Can you tell me where I am?" the rat asked as they sat up, looking at the stranger.

deadpan stare he says "uwu." like some magic spell.
Watching an old man use kid terminology burned and scorched her brain with memories she rather not have. She sighed and replied, " Boo...did that have enough magic in it? "

@zaubersammler continued from this
Merely watching Miss Frieren think about the last time she saw a dragon was enough to tell Fern that it had been a while since dragons were seen. Probably just as magically ancient as elves. A world where magic is able for everyone awhile hard to grasp for some. Maybe, seeing a dragon was like experiencing true magic, just like what they talk about in the fairytale. Or what she read in Heiter's small library.
Those insightful little pages don't compare to her master's vast knowledge. Because now, she knew that her technique wasn't going to work for a mission of this scale. " What will work on a dragon, if magic won't work? "
But, she took a second to picture the dragon scale glistening in the sun, or against it's own fire for light. She could only let her mind run wild with the possibilities of what dragon scales look like: golden with a green tint, blue with a purple tint, jet black, or crimson red.
#zaubersammler#sorry for the late reply#school has been kicking my butt but i hope you can accpt my forgiveness in this form of a reply :)

Wandering thoughts of why he was here ended short when he provided an answer. Her face stayed stoic, unchanging as his reply really didn’t phase her. ( Did he really have nothing to do? What about that old fellow following him around? ) Sometimes, she wondered what he did when she wasn’t there…
Ultimately, she was content in how the events were playing out. Not that she had planned this, she just enjoyed nice things — maybe basking in the glory of companionship turned the tide for her. “ Maybe, you should take up a new hobby? “ She offered lightly, completely ignoring his inquiry. Stark was still young and could accomplish many feats, if only he put his mind and body to it.
Oh no, it's Fern and she could be upset at him, but he wouldn't really know. She's still a mystery and her facial expression rarely change and are still very hard for someone like Stark to decipher. He was still sulking at the counter as she approached him.
"Fern... I've been so bored these last few days while you and Frieren were taking that test. When are you two going to finish?"

the existence of Fern and Stark points to an interesting trend in Frieren-- that of the protege, the successor. For humans or similarly short-lived creatures, a successor is crucial. That can take the form of a daughter-figure, disciple, student, etc.
There's that scene in the first intro where the two panels divide and separate as a metaphor for time, with Frieren in the middle, indicating that Stark and Fern are successors to Eisen and Heiter-- they are successors, carrying on the legacy of their forbearers, with Frieren as the link between time for them
But then, who is Himmels successor? If Eisen and Heiter have one, then logically shouldn't there be a fourth member of their party to continue his path?
Until you realize that Frieren is Himmel's successor. She is both the link in time and a continuation of his teachings-- the one who taught her to be kind, to explore dungeons, and to value the small moments of life that you won't realize are there until they're past.
