Okay but now I can't get out of my head the idea of once Bruce is back with the pack in the Ninth Wave (bc he WILL and there will be FLUFF) and Lex is huffing (he's so fucking relieved) about how he's going gray bc of Bruce. And then Bruce pushes his fringe back to reveal entrances (that aren't even that bad but it's the teasing that matters) and teases him that he'll go bald before going grey.

Bruce coming back from his Joker ordeal and immediately giving Lex shit for his new grey hairs is SO on brand for them in this series, I love it. It bookends nicely with Bruce being all depressed in his nest in ASOH and Lex immediately making fun of him for shopping at TJ Maxx and bitchily throwing around his nesting pillows.

And you're right, Lex instantly relaxes because this is their dynamic, and Bruce must be fine if he can joke with him about dumb shit like that. And yeah, he's so relieved it isn't even funny. He had 16 breakdowns in the car ride here, etc. Poor Dan 🤣

I know we've all mentioned it before, but DAMMIT it's not overrated. Outlaws is so popular for a reason.

I can’t help bringing it up because it’s just one of the rare moments where Bruce and Jason are on good terms without compromising their individual ideals, I didn't even know that could be done;

DC Comics often feel like they stretch on endlessly with runs, but then we get something special like this. Amidst the sea of continuity, you kinda just quite down and get to appreciate them.

AND Props to Lobdell for using the Outlaws to help the characters reconnect. This nearly made me cry the first time I read it; sometimes you get lucky and find a writer who truly understands the characters in a way you don’t.

It’s a powerful reminder of what makes their connection so compelling, if only we had more arcs written with the same nuance.

Shoutout to Lex Luthor in BVS for being absolutely unhinged. I know the role gets lots of shit for veering away from typical Lex Luthor characterization, but man. They really went all in.

The dude force fed a jolly rancher to a senator within seconds of meeting him. He pissed in a jar and snuck it into a senate hearing. He blew up his own assistant. He cried over a dead alien he didn’t even know and then proceeded to illegally combine his and their DNA into an experimental alien creature. There’s a whole scene at the end of the movie where he’s just got snot dribbling down his face.

I still think about the little nose twitch thing he did in the “red capes” scene. The little piano motif. Aghhh.

One detail I really like about the new Batman and Robin: Year One comics is how Bruce stands. He doesn't stand straight, he leans against the closest wall or furniture, he crosses his arms or has his hands on his hips or in his pockets, he crosses his legs. It's reminiscing of older comics, where they would made him serve without realizing.

I hope parents never stop making their little kids wear those hats with pom-poms on both sides like teddy bear ears. Brightens my day every time. The winter is dark and the winds are harsh but at least there's little ewoks toddling about.

I think the newer version of Red Hood’s suit is designed to tempt an enterprising Gotham thug to try and grab a fistful of his hair mid-fight.

…which would be a very, very bad mistake of course. but so tempting. it’s right there. a perfect little handhold. a tuft of weakness. Red Hood likes his face covered; imagine being the goon who can haul him up by the hair and into the light?
