Lydia sighed.
“I wish I could know too. It’s concerning when someone knows your secrets. Is the letter handwritten? Maybe we could analyze the handwriting and compare it to other people’s.”
Astraea was sat by the lake , reading, when she felt somebody sit besides her.
“What do you want?”, she asked , unwilling to look away from her book to see who it was.

Lydia had been receiving only letters, but she had heard others had been getting tasks. Indeed X never said she couldn’t TALK about this.
“Have they sent you any sort of task in the letter? I haven’t really been getting any, but I’ve heard others have too. To be honest, I’m a bit upset that they’re not asking me to do a task. I think they’re trying to use my innocence to make me feel weak, but just my guess. So what exactly do you want to talk about with this?”

“What is it about?” Lydia asked.
“X?”
Ever since the party at the Forbidden Forest, Lydia was hoping for some insight into this, especially why she had been getting letters, but not tasks like everyone else.

“Lydia Scamander, 5th year Ravenclaw,” the girl replied.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t really know me. People don’t really talk to me. Or about me. At least not in a complimentary way. People seem to think I’m a bit odd, you know. Some people call me Loony Lydia or Silly Scamander actually.”
Lydia really hoped she wasn’t talking this girl’s ear off, but the stress of X, her worry of not receiving tasks from them like everyone else, and the stress of her Arithmancy essay made her more talkative and socially awkward.

Lydia had been trying for hours to finish the essay, but nothing was coming to mind. Arithmancy wasn’t her best subject and all of the stress people had been demonstrating because of X was starting to get to her a bit.
Shaking her head and sighing, she decided a break was in order. She got up from her chair in the library and went down to the grounds. It was days like these--when she was at her most stressed--that Lydia wished she was at home with her mum and dad. On top of it, Lydia couldn’t help but wonder; who was X? Why were they sending her these letters?
Others had apparently been getting tasks from X, but Lydia found herself receiving only the Forbidden Forest party instruction so far, and that almost made her have a melt down; people kept trying to make small talk, invade her space, and offer her fire whiskey; it was a known fact that Lydia never drank fire whiskey (she was worried it would make her off-balance like everyone else after they drank it) and, at first, she’d found it sweet that people would try to get her to drink it because she thought they wanted her to stay hydrated. But then rumors swept about that it was a joke and people were messing with her because of how innocent and naive she came off as.
Lydia didn’t really care. Sure, there were days when it got to her, but she usually brushed it off as wrackspurts. Unfortunately today was one of those days. Why hadn’t she, too, been getting tasks from X? Were they also aware of her innocence and were they trying to use it to make her feel helpless and weak?
“I’m completely capable,” she said to herself as she sat, looking out at the lake.
“Why can’t I get another task too?”
She was so wrapped up that she didn’t hear someone sitting down beside her as she said this.

Lydia wasn’t the best at reading into social cues. She wasn’t quite sure if this girl wanted to be left alone, but she seemed a bit upset. Lydia had also come down to look at the lake and hopefully see the Giant Squid.
“You seem upset. Is something wrong?” Lydia asked out of genuine concern.

“You know, I think it’s because they think I’m a bit odd that people here usually seem to stay away from me,” Lydia said as she rubbed the flower petals between her fingers.
She tilted her head.
“Not that I don’t mind you hanging out with me, but why are you?”

A friend of mine drew me as what she called a chibi. It's a work-in-progress. [An eleven year old blonde girl in glasses is smiling and flapping her hands. She wears a black, Hogwarts robe and a hairbow on top of her head. Written above her is "Lydia" in cursive and below her is "Scamander" written in cursive. Beside Scamander is a heart. Below Scamander is the hashtag #REDInstead. On the right is a puzzle piece in a circle crossed out. Above that is the phrase Stim Positive. Above it in a mobius strip aka the infinity symbol to describe the infinite possibilities. To the left is the phrase Compassion not cure and below that is the phrase People not puzzles.]

Lydia blinked upon hearing this. She knew she was a bit naive, but she couldn’t help it. She was naturally somewhat of an innocent girl.
“Oh. Well, X told me I’m supposed to go to this party in the Forbidden Forest. I don’t think anyone I know will be there. Lots of people tend to stay away from me. I think they think I’m a bit odd. And I don’t quite know the wrackspurt population. My spectrespecs have mysteriously disappeared. It must be the nargles.”
She looked up at Verity.
“You seem tense. Is something wrong?”

Lydia was taken aback by the girl’s question.
“To bed? You mean for a sleepover?” she asked innocently, tilting her head.
“I suppose that’d be a better way to get to know each other. We could tell spooky stories, paint our nails, and roast s’mores. Oh, I do hope I’m not blathering your ear off. I suspect that’d be the work of the Bulgarian Yapperflaps. Sweet little things, and adorable when you can see them, but they make you ramble on and on about everything, anything, and absolutely nothing. Anyhow, I came over here because you looked a bit off-balance and I don’t want you to get hurt. It’s the wrackspurts, isn’t it? They can make you hazy at best, but can be dangerous if they’re in your head for too long.”
It was getting to the time of night that Dom picked up her companion for the night. It was how nights like this always went: She dressed up, got drunk, and then picked out someone to fall into bed with. She surveyed the party-goers, some significantly more drunk than others, when she felt a tap on her shoulder, and spun around with a slight smirk on her face. “Wanna take me to bed for the night?”

@ladylennox “They’re invisible creatures that float in your ears and make your brain go fuzzy. Happens to me a lot it seems. Not that I bump into a lot of people. I’m often just a bit up and out there.”
The peculiar Ravenclaw scooted up against the wall and pulled out the letter from X again. She looked at Verity strangely.
“Do you know anyone by the name of X?” Lydia asked, tilting her head.

Lydia Scamander picked up the letter she received from someone called X. “Interesting way to sign a letter,” the fifteen year old remarked in a soft Irish accent. She opened it up and read through it. Inside told her that this person knew she was part-faerie and that she ran the creative writing magazine that had been spreading throughout Hogwarts. It also told her of a party in the Forbidden Forest. “How exciting! A mystery,” she replied. “A bit strange, but exciting, nonetheless.” Alas Lydia was unusually naive for her age and everyone knew it. “I wonder who X could be.” She skipped off to class, stuck in a daydream as usual when she bumped into someone, sending her to the ground. “Oh goodness! Sorry,” she apologized. “Must’ve been the wrackspurts. Are you alright?”

Lydia blinked as she was metaphorically dragged out of her own head as she heard a voice say that.
“Hm?” she asked as she tilted her head.
“I feel like I’m supposed to be doing something right now.”
She turned to Cameron and stared at him with her wide doe-like eyes.
“Sorry. What were we talking about?”
“Come on, get your head your ass and figure out the next question.”
