I did last month's birbfest as blind contour drawings. I was excited to do a hummingbird on day 5 because they're so cute, but this dude came out busted. 😆
Days 4-6: red kite, crimson topaz hummingbird, stonechat

I don't typically do the themed-month art challenges. I don't take the time every day, or not all of the prompts inspire me, or I spend too long on each one because I can't let go of my standards.
So, I did last month's #birbfest as blind contour drawings (do we have a better name for those yet?). I could spend a minute or less on each one, so making up 4-5 in one day wouldn't take much time. I love birds, I love looking at them, I love learning their funny little names. And a benefit of the form is that your standards don't matter; you just go and you can't undo and you can't judge along the way.
I waited till after January to share any drawings in order to make sure I finished. I'll try to post them a few at a time. Some kinda rule. Some are delightfully bizarre. Some might even have color!
Days 1-3: Ross' turaco, piping plover (and chick), lazuli bunting

I also finished Barroth! He was painted forever ago but it took me a long time to get a gloss medium for the mud.

July was really rough. Sick, stressed, chronic pain, turned down for a few projects. All the while telling myself I should be doing more. 😮💨 But I've started physical therapy, and I've negotiated a way to be more patient with myself while I get back in gear. You get up - which might take a little time - and you move on to the next thing.
I'll have more to show soon, but for now here's some experiments and prep from a screenprinting workshop I did a couple weeks ago. 🪲

July has been whooping me up and down so far. Haven't done as much as I hoped to the past couple weeks, but I'm still working. Revising and rewriting the poem comic, brainstorming a stencil for an upcoming screenprint workshop.

STL Art for Palestine fundraiser
A wonderful local fundraiser starts tonight and runs all week (or until all listings are claimed). Donate at least the listed amount for any item and you can get some really neat art! Donations to any of the charities on Operation Olive Branch's list qualify. I've contributed a small painting, a pair of prints, and a commission to paint a TTRPG mini. Please check it out!
