I keep reading things about aspergers and can't help but think they sound like me and connect to them.
If you think you may have it, do your research thoroughly and consult a doctor if you're able to.

do people ever come across this blog thinking the have aspergers then come back telling you that they got an actual diagnoses from a doctor saying the do in fact have aspergers? I was wondering what the percent of people who think they have aspergers actually do have it.
Not yet, but I've seen people in a few tags who say they think they have autism/Asperger's syndrome and then they see a doctor to confirm it, and get it confirmed.

Yelloo! You are a mutual follow of mine, so in the hobbitish tradition I am giving gifts on my birthday (instead of sleeping...)! So! Gestures of affection to all of you, which tend to be hugs because I am tactile but can be a comforting drink or food of your choice!
Thank you, and omfg I'd die for a frappucino but an internet hug will do since you gave fair warning. Happy birthday! =w=
(If the other mods see this I guess just add to the post through an edit or a reblog? .-.)

disabled people are everything I want you all to remember that
people have spent history trying to eradicate us, through slaughter and eugenics and isolation
but we have fucking survived and we are still fighting and we exist regardless of whether you want us to or not
disabled people’s existence is rebellion and we are better than abled people could ever be

Same here. it depends on who I'm talking to, but if one particular phrase catches my fancy I'll say it around anyone and everyone.

Anyone else do echolalia even while typing?
Like, i’ll say things like “of All Time” or “I don’t know what that means” or “bomb-ass” quoting other people, and i’ve always wondered if it’s just a verbal thing for people and i was just going crazy or what. u v u

It’s okay. No shame in it, because it’s one of our difficulties. But, we know better, now, and we can ignore the poopmonger. <3

That guy is a troll. :/ He's trolling the autistic community because we're more likely to take his bullshit literally, believe what he says is true, and worse. He's a jerk and everyone should ignore and block him. He'll go away without any food.
>8l He picked low-hanging fruit I have to admit. I totally fell for it.

Sign the petition to introduce House Bill 1474, known as Paul’s Law. This law is based on the struggle of Paul Corby, a young man who was denied a life preserving heart transplant because he suffers from psychiatric issues and autism.

I was always well above my grade level in terms of reading, having a near-college level ability in the 6th grade. I can also remember long strings of numbers with some ease. I also draw pretty well, or so I'm told.

what are aspies good at?
This is hard to answer because it’s so varied. In fact, let’s see how varied. If you’re on the spectrum, what is something you are especially good at?
I bet the list that results from this will be as diverse as a list made by a random group of neurotypical people.

How To: Spot an Autistic Assassin by Lawrence
May or may not sit in the most comfortable position (ever).
I LOVE sitting like this. TIPPY-TOE SITTING IS THE BEST for me. I also like cross-legged. (This one’s more on the funny than educational side, but that’s how a How To guide will look.)
What’s your favourite sitting position?

I wasn't meaning to compare savants to autism. I hope that's not the way my original post sounded. I just know that most autistic's get irritated at the subject and understandably so because of the whole Rain Man thing so I mentioned that, hoping to only discuss their brain and how the media goes ape on covering stories like savants.
I personally think we, as humans, have great strengths in some areas and we're weaker in others. Doesn't matter if a person is disabled or not. I agree with you that the autistic = savant is blown out of proportion. It's no where accurate. There are very few people in the world who's brain can compute like a savant's can.
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset anyone if I did.
Discussion?
What’s your opinions on savants and do you view the media’s attention on them as a good or bad thing??
I personally think the way their brain processes information is mind blowing.
I understand society’s view on the movie Rain Man isn’t great for the autistic community but as a general statement, if the movie Rain Man wasn’t considered, how do you feel about the media covering stories on savants?

Most days it takes me about an hour to fall asleep. I also sleep twice a day, both about 5-6 hours long. But it's only a recent pattern in my sleep. I have the hardest time regulating it.
- J
Any of you with aspergers who have difficulty falling asleep, I know myself and a lot of others benefit from the pressure of a duvet. I have just gotten a feather duvet instead of a synthetic one and it is so much nicer and I have a feeling I will sleep a little better now. Just a suggestion :P
