Ahsoka is a young ambush predator, and does not handle the 'hurry up and wait' pace of life between battles well at all
so Rex develops a game for her:
Rex will discreetly tag one of the troopers with the equivalent of a space kick me sign on the back, and Ahsoka then has to isolate them from the herd and pounce
not only does this serve as Enrichment in his Commander's Enclosure, it's also a good test of his men's situational awareness
not to mention, it's a good mechanism for a little petty revenge every now and then
he'll occasionally also 'loan her out' to Wolffe or Cody as a chance to stress-test their own troopers' level of vigilance (and give Torrent a break from her reign of terror)

All throughout childhood, while my peers were socializing and making friends, I studied the blade read so many books that I am now almost legally blind, which left me with vast and deeply instinctual understanding of English grammar - and next to no ability to explain how it actually works. Friends will often ask me to proofread their writing and then get very mad when I say things like, "You need to completely reverse this sentence and cut this clause entirely; no, I'm sorry, i don't know why, I just know that the way it is now ITCHES 😭"
Now, what I want to see is a fantasy story where this plays out with MAGICAL grammar. Someone from a backwater town deeply steeped in folk magic arrives at Wizard Uni where all their fellow students are like "What do you mean, we should add another '𝞯∘⋇𝞿' to the incancation because it 'sounds better'? What do you mean, 'it could just be a regional thing'?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN, 'THIS SPELL JUST FEELS LIKE IT NEEDS A LIVE RAT'????"

i learned about Tim Wong who successfully and singlehandedly repopulated the rare California Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly in San Francisco. In the past few years, he’s cultivated more than 200 pipevine plants (their only food source) and gives thousands of caterpillars to his local Botanical Garden (x)

You are a villain famous for “killing” heroes. In reality, heroes come to you to fake their deaths.

There are so many things I wish people would remember about Luke Skywalker. I mean, as funny as the whole “Beautiful cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure” thing is, that’s…. not actually what Luke is about? Like… there’s so much more to him.
His anger. Let’s start with that. Luke Skywalker is a young man who is angry. He saw his foster parents dead because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, and what does he do? He joins the rebellion (which, admittedly, he thought about before all of that) and blows up the freaking death star. This whole… totally removed from emotions thing? Yeah, especially early Luke is nothing like that.
Also: Luke Skywalker is a soldier. He is a fighter pilot, he has a rank, he has responsibility. He has fought in a war. He is not some innocent farmboy.
Adding to this: Luke Skywalker has a body count. A pretty high one too, because, you know, he blew up the entire death star with at least a few hundred people on it. But even without that, we see him kill people in the movies. He becomes someone who wants to believe that there is another way, but if he has to kill, he will absolutely do it, and he won’t loose any sleep about it.
Also, and this always really bothers me: Luke was not innocent when he joined the rebellion. Luke, in ANH, is the son of a slave, who will not have been allowed to forget that, given that he has his grandmothers name and lives where she lived. He also grew up on a planet that was pretty much the Hutt criminals backyard. He learned to defend the farm against raiders early on, and he will have seen dead bodies, he absolutely will have grown up on horror stories of what the Hutts and the Tusken are willing to do. He is not some innocent kid.
Also, Luke grew up on a planet where slavery and the Hutts are kind of big things. He understands inuendo, and he understands rape jokes, and he will be utterly livid at the latter.
Luke, especially in the beginning, does not know how the politics of the galaxy work. That does not mean he’s stupid, or uninterested. It just means that he was never taught these things.
Related: He took what Yoda and Obi-Wan and even Vader taught him, and then he build his own version of the truth out of it. He thinks critically, he doesn’t just accept things, he wants to figure out what is true, and what works. This man is not a blind follower.
When he believes in something, than he believes whole heartedly, and he is willing to die for it. See: Essentially the entirety of the last half of ROTJ.
He grew up in the desert. Places like Yavin or Sollust will feel cold to him. He will have a different reaction to water than, for example, Leia or Han. But he also knows how to act within a desert.
He can be cocky. I mean, watch ESB. He learns in ROTJ, but if necessary, Luke can absolutely be the cocky arrogant hotshot pilot.
He is very family oriented. In ANH, the reason he hasn’t left Tatooine despite clearly wanting to is that his family needs him. When they die, he leaves to avenge them. In ROTJ, the only thing that shakes him out of his calm is a threat to his sister. And of course, he is absolutely committed to saving his father. This is a guy who deeply, deeply cares for his family, and would never abandon them (and yes, I am glaring at TFA here)
Just… there is so much more to him than the innocent kid or the stoic monk. I wish people would remember that.

Many ages ago Death was defeated and sealed. Immortality is the norm, but the loss of death has lead to a society of ultralites that rule over never dying slaves. As Death’s first reaper after the unsealing, you are here to remind them why Death exists… and why your master should be feared.

Calling myself out

“transition poses some ethical questions. Such as, from what age should you be allowed to irreversibly change your body.“
This of course completely ignores the fact that puberty makes irreversible changes to your body. But let us just rephrase the question: “from what age do you gain bodily autonomy?” Now it gets very easy to answer: From the moment you’re fucking born.

Transgender lesbian woman tears gender stereotypes apart in viral video
You have probably heard it before: “Wearing a dress does not make you a woman!”
Over at twitter, Eva, a lesbian transgender woman, published this amazing video in response, showing the world what kind of stupid stereotype this is (embedded above).
Eva writes:
Jokes aside, early on in transition I would worry so much about if I wasn’t trans enough because I genuinely enjoyed some of the ways I was masculine before I came out.
Re-contextualizing that through the frame of lesbian masculinity has made me feel so much more at ease, and it’s made me so much more comfortable with those parts of myself than as I ever did trying to express them as a man.
I love my shoulders. I love my arms, my muscles. I love wearing suits. I love being tall. I love having a deeper voice. I love having a strong jawline. I also love having long hair, gentle curves, and painting inch long wings over my eyes. I love being trans

"The trannies should be able to piss in whatever toilet they want and change their bodies however they want. Why is it my business if some chick has a dick or a guy has a pie? I'm not a trannie or a fag so I don't care, just give 'em the medicine they need."
"This is an LGBT safe space. Of COURSE I fully support individuals who identify as transgender and their right to self-determination! I just think that transitioning is a very serious choice and should be heavily regulated. And there could be a lot of harm in exposing cis children to such topics, so we should be really careful about when it is appropriate to mention trans issues or have too much trans visibility."
One of the above statements is Problematic and the other is slightly annoying. If we disagree on which is which then working together for a better future is going to get really fucking difficult.

For colder climates they might have to add some kind of cover to protect the panels from ice and hail, though
Okay also I’ve been driving electric cars long enough now to be really emphatic that the fact that they’re not all automatically built with solar panels in the roofs is a scandal.
And somehow almost every time I tell anyone this they roll their eyes and attempt to explain to me that this would not create a perpetual motion machine because of the limitations of the area relative to the power draw of the motor, which is incredibly annoying because that’s not the point.
Yes it’s possible that driving in the sunshine with a solar collector dripping into the battery would net you a little more mileage on that trip before needing recharge, but the usefulness of a solar-topped electric car is that if you drive it someplace–say, to work–and leave it outside in the sun all day, you’ll definitely have more range available by the time you’re ready to head home.
Also if you fuck up your calculations because of the inefficiency induced by cold weather or something and get yourself stranded without anywhere to charge, like halfway up a mountain or, more likely, six miles from home, you can call for rescue or walk away, come back later, and it’ll be able to move again.
This is important because unlike running out of gas you can’t really go get some electricity.
