I wasn't sure of who I wanted to be, what I wanted to be. I was always very creative; I wanted to get into photography but my school wouldn't let me. I did design. I always enjoyed drawing. Some of the places I went were very rigid in terms of what they believed was a doss subject and what was a serious education. I wanted to do a lot more of the creative stuff and was stopped by teachers. They didn't think they were the right things to be doing, but they were much more academic than I was. - Ben Robson

I sent a letter, two photos and a self addressed stamped envelope to OSCAR ISAAC via the movie set of “Suburbicon” on 15 October 2016. I received my photos back signed and personalised from him via the “Life Itself” film set in New York on 21 April 2017!

With his emotive eyes and universal good looks, Oscar Isaac is without doubt one of the most exciting, creative and refreshing faces in Hollywood today - and just so happens to be one of my favourite actors too!

I first saw Oscar in the masterpiece Agora, where he impressed as the Prefect Orestes. He delivered an enthralling, powerful portrayal as this emotionally conflicted man, and ensured for some memorable moments in the film.

I’ve been following his career for a good few years now, and some of my favourite films include Inside Llewyn Davis, The Nativity Story, Ex Machina, A Most Violent Year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as the fantastic TV mini-series Show Me a Hero.

Oscar is exceptional in Inside Llewyn Davis in particular, where he so perfectly captured the emotional struggles and pain of the folk singer Davis. From the melancholic longing in his eyes throughout the film to simply his downright bad luck, he is a true revelation in this film as he so delicately brought the different, bitter aspects of the character to life. As a bonus, he has a beautiful singing voice and performed some stunning, emotional renditions of Llewyn's songs.

Then there is also the brilliant Show Me a Hero, where he pulled off a complex character that is unlike anything else he has done so far. I really enjoyed this fascinating show and the raw authenticity of his portrayal made each moment so emotionally realistic to observe as the events unfold, which is something that I have not experienced many times – if at all – while watching a movie or TV show. Stunning work from Mr Isaac!

If I come in as an actor, I check the fragilities and the breaking points for the whole piece and the team, because that's what I get paid to do.
