But don’t forget that memory is like salt: the right amount brings out the flavor in food, too much ruins it. If you live in the past all the time, you’ll find yourself with no present to remember.

Day 2 of Liver Flush!
Before going on vacation I wanted to cleanse my liver, and what better way to do so with a morning smoothie with milk thistle (great for the liver!!!), fennel, manjista, guduchi, ginger, cinnamon, cardamon, bay leaf and nutmeg. I then added a mango, which is in season and found everywhere in Florida along with 1 lime (juice), 1 tbs of coconut oil, and 2 tbs of aloe vera gel.
Although it doesn't look very good in the picture, it's not bad... I actually enjoy it.

Today's Herb: Horsetail
Horsetail is an effective diuretic and blood cleanser. Often used to for edema, nephritis, burning urethra, kidney stones, gallbladder stone. stomach ulcers, broken bones, menorrhagia, venereal diseases, to name a few. This herb is particularly good for high pitta conditions,as well as aiding with removing stones in the kidney, bladder, and gallstones. However, because of it's strong action it should not be taken for long periods of time with proper supervision.
Horsetail helps heal broken bones, and supplies nutrients to bone tissue. This herb helps removes toxicity from the blood and helps clear and brighten the eyes. Also, often used for infectious fevers and flus.
As you can see, horsetail has so many great uses!!! It's good to keep this herb in mind especially when treating pitta conditions.

Today was the first time I had ever done a body wrap...I actually did it on two clients. I am excited to share this information with you all!
A body wrap treatment can be effective for fibromyalgia, obesity, muscular dystrophy, cellulite, varicose veins and toning. It is particularly great for eliminating toxins and burning fat.
The herbs I used (as seen above) were orange peel, juniper, eucalyptus, witch hazel, and camphor. After the tea simmered for about 2 hours, I socked the bandages and added essential oils 20 minutes before I began the treatment. Some great essential oils that can be used during this treatment are juniper, cypress, lavender, bergamot, and orange.
Before applying the bandages make sure they are hot but not too hot of course. When wrapping the bandages do it from left to right making sure it's tight but does not hurt.
After I finished wrapping the client, she sat in the steam box (I added additional oils) for approximately 30 minutes while her her hair was being massage with amalaki oil.
Both clients were very satisfied with the treatment... making it a great first attempt at this wonderful treatment.

I've decided to start posting information about the different types of herbs used in Ayurveda. By doing so not only will I learn the herbs better, but also share with you all the wonderful benefits of including herbs in your everyday life.
With that said, I will start by telling you about one of my favorite herbs... Rose. Not only are rose flowers beautiful to look at, they can also be used for countless conditions. Another great thing about rose flowers is that they are good to use for any dosha (VPK=).
Rose flowers are particularly good for reducing Pitta by relieving heat, congestion of the blood, and soothing inflamed surfaces. This herb is great for amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, uterine hemorrhage, inflamed eye, headaches, sore throat, dizziness, and even enlarged tonsils.
I personally use rose water every morning after washing my face in the morning. I put it on face using a cotton ball, and I immediately feel refresh and uplifted.
*If you would like to purchase organic rose water let me know, by contacting me at [email protected]

My teacher making herbal wine for graduation in August. When making herbal wine you should let the herbs set for at least thirty days and strain.
