He managed a small smile in the other blonde’s direction. “Doesn’t that sound good?” He hoped Dane didn’t notice that his voice was shaking a bit as he steered them towards the sand. “Maybe we can even make smores in the microwave.”

“Dane? DANE!” Nate ran even faster. He slowed down briefly when he felt the pavement under his feet change to sand. His eyes scanning the water and praying.

Not for the first time, Nate wished he had inherited the ability to fly. But he was glad for his endurance as he raced toward the beach. Sending a quick prayer to the Gods that he was on time.
