rewatching sailor moon for the third time really puts into perspective, and this is something i've admittedly been saying for years now, how insane it is that the contemporary creative and critical discussion around the magical girl genre in english-speaking circles is demonstrably coming from people who, as a result of likely having not actually watched these works since they were children, do not have accurate working memories of e.g. sailor moon, cardcaptor sakura, etc, and are coming at it from largely vibes-and-fuzzy-memories-based positions.

hI SO the basic idea for this AU is Starscream/Ulchtar is an Autobot - never a decepticon here, and is Optimus Prime's SIC. To explain a bit about the name here, Ulchtar is his name while 'Starscream'/'Starscream of Kaon' is more an alias he gained. One of this designs inspirations was Gao Changgong, a Northern Qi dynatsy general whose face was described as so beautiful he wore a horrific mask to intimidate his enemies. Ulchtar uses it in a similar way here, as he doesn't think his face is intimidating!

Optimus is also rather different in this AU - in that he's always been Optimus, never Orion Pax (this is important!!). Primes in this au are essentially 'sentinels' created to be awakened as guardians/enforcers before returning to stasis and their memory is erased. Ulchtar accidentally awakened Optimus while fighting for his life at the start of story, though Optimus was awakened intentionally pre-story as an enforcer.

While Optimus is a leader, his position as a Prime actually makes it so he *isn't* the autobot leader in totality. Also Ulchtar does (playful) assassination attempts on him as a bonding exercise / make sure Optimus is always up to snuff (because I think it's funny).

I legitimately have become so used to seeing my mutual's art of characters that looking at the original artist's work of them (which I *adore* btw) immediately sets my "oh hey the artist changed stuff about their appearance" toggle on

So this seems to be pretty 1:1 with the Fate/Extra Manga Adaptation (ft. very historically accurate outfits lemme tell ya). The wording is weird; but it seems that Agrippina was still assassinated, and Nero is either 1) coming by as she dies, or 2) talking post humorously.

Either way; Fate already plays it fast and loose with Nero, and with the historical records we do have being so biased and called into question because of that bias - who fucking knows.

It kind of seems like it's implied nero poisoned agrippina and also was present for her death which I don't get bc despite the multiple semi conflicting accounts of how she died isn't it generally thought she was a) stabbed b) Nero was nowhere near her when it happened
