I don't want what you have, I want to be you
That's what happened, right? Rhysand became what Tamlin was in ACOTAR. He took everything, even the fans' love (Tamlin, honey, we still love you no matter what)

How convenient Feyre doesn't have a single memory or glimpse of how Rhysand abused her for two months though she was drugged but her memories weren't taken away. Her body doesn't recognise his touch as danger and isn't repulsed by him. Her trauma hasn't left a mark on her mind and body.
How convenient Feyre's PTSD is about being locked up in a cell and not the man who tortured and broke her hand forcing her into a bargain. Her nightmares are filled with the creatures that abused her once and threatened to spit roast her but not of the man who touched her and kissed her without consent and paraded her naked.
How convenient Feyre goes back to using sex as a crutch with Tamlin and later with Rhysand when it was the very thing that was used against her UtM. Her body readily wants a man's touch right after her rebirth.
How convenient Lucien is the only source of information who told Feyre what was done to her. He is also the most considerate and sweetest friend she ever had. He could have withheld some of that trauma to spare her the humiliation and heartbreak.
How convenient Feyre and Tamlin agreed never to speak of what happened UtM. Feyre doesn't understand how Tamlin's rage extends beyond his possessiveness. For her to turn a blind eye and blame him when they won't even talk about it.
How convenient every HL wants to hold Rhysand accountable for the very things he explicitly claimed to be remorseful of (Winter children massacre) and not the other atrocities he participated or committed in the fifty (or 500) years.
How convenient the HLs are polite enough to not ask Feyre how she forgave Rhysand after he SA'd her every night and willingly plays his whore whenever he wants.
How convenient the HLs don't ask if Feyre is also being mind controlled by Rhysand when he proved his strength by taking over Tamlin's mind in front of everyone.
How convenient every HL forgive Rhysand and Feyre for every mistake they ever made and make compromises throughout but never expect anything in return. How convenient mere 'sorry' always seems to be enough when their courts are suffering because of IC.
How convenient Tamlin insults Feyre but doesn't ask how she accepted her abuser as her mate when she accuses him of the same (sometimes worse) too.
How convenient Lucien is so charmed by the beauty of Velaris that he understands why Feyre left Spring for it but doesn't hold a grudge for what she did to his home.
How convenient Nesta, who's been SA'd twice, never finds out her baby sister also went through the same and is in love with the perpetrator. She never finds out the baby she saved is the child of Feyre's abuser.
How convenient Rhysand and Feyre agreed to deal with their trauma in secrecy. No one in Velaris ever finds out what truly happened UtM.
How convenient 'We save abused priestesses together' Morrigan or 'Careful how you speak about my High Lady' Azriel or 'No male better than Rhys' Cassian never find out how Rhysand hurt Feyre.
How convenient Rhysand himself was SA'd over and over again and so it's all fine to do the same to Feyre.
How convenient what happened UtM stays UtM.
How fucking convenient.

i know this is something that gets talked about a bit, but the more i think about it the more i hate the inner circle.
i wonder if sjm just like forgets that her hero characters have more people than just their immediate family and friends to save. rhysand is literally the most powerful high lord in history, and he can’t even control the “court of nightmares” or the illyrians and just complains about them like some kind of altruist. how hewn city still has power while the IC go through kardashian type drama is ridiculous. especially when mor was almost subjected to that fate they openly criticize, but continue to ignore. mor has trauma from the hewn court, but no one acknowledges the women who still live in that reality?
i mean imagine seeing mor and high lady feyre, women, having so much power, and then just slowly realizing nothing is changing.
and absolutely no one talk to me about how the IC heard how nesta was being groomed to marry the highest bidder, then proceeded to ask her to seduce the highest bidder. i scream and fall to my knees. how they can see emerie’s cut wings and not beg for forgiveness for failing her and the rest of the people they swore to protect. and this is JUST about the crimes against women, not even as a whole.
“court of dreams” because their heads are stuck up their-

"You still think I'm some kind of monster-"
Yes, you sexual assaulted a girl in the name of the greater good.
Also side note: I hate the vague "after what you did to me.", because it's like sjm knows she can't ignore what happened, but she also can't admit to Ryhsand doing something that evil/have Freye falling in love with her abuser, let alone trust him.

Rhysand: "for someone who sat on his ass for nearly fifty years"
Also Rhysand: making a shield around Velaris so the IC are forced to sit on their asses while 2/3 of the night court disintegrates into chaos and are sacrificed for their "utopian" city with slums

Is feysand out of elain week because what Rhysand did utm was sexual abuse and feyre burning the LOA was also abuse,
Rhys drugging and making feyre do stuff triggers people so it would be safe to ban Rhys to create a safe environment for fans
Elain tells everyone that she is no child to be faught over
Yet when Azriel goes against her wishes and tells Rhys he would fight elain in a blood duel it triggers because yet again a man going against the wishes of a women
Banning Azriel would also create a safe space for those who gets triggered by this (me included)

I think the reason why Azriel is the most popular batboy is because his entire personality is fanon

2/3rds of the Night Court can’t look up at the sky thanks to Rhysand
The Court of Nightmares can never leave the underground, forced to endure torture forever
And Velaris has Rhysand fucking Feyre for all to see flying around in the sky
Only the Illyrians are free from his torment

Acotar and Heathers
I saw the simularities between some of the ACOTAR characters and the Heathers Movie and Musical versions of the characters so heres my findings
This is not friendly to the Inner Circle be warned
All ACOTAR art was made by Charlie Bowater
Veronica Sawyer as Feyre Archeron
Veronica used to be one the the uncool kids in school, she was friends with Martha, but when she became useful for the cool kids (Heathers), she dropped her old life and became a mean kids, despite this she falls in love with JD and he uses that and her growing resentment of Heather Chandler to make her an accomplice in his murders of the Chandler, Kurt and Ram. Feyre is like Veronica, as she has (as of ACOFAS and ACOSF) has basically rejected her past life as a human, we learn that the Night Court traditions of Solstace are very different from human traditions (unclear if they even celebrate the day) we learn this from her sisters. She also is being manipulated by Rhysand through the books into thinking he is a good character that can do no wrong, despite his actions to her and others. She loses herself in this role/mask as the books progress as Veronica loses herself and her past life when she rejects Martha as a friend before the climax of the musical.
JD (James Dean) as Rhysand
JD is a manipulative and abusive character, he had a scummy dad who was a demolition man who is implied to be abusive towards JD’s mom and JD himself, he is dead by the time of the Musical/Movie. Rhysand is a character whose parents are dead and his father is implied to be abusive and he doesn’t want to become like his father just like JD. But both characters still fall down similar paths as their fathers with how manipulative they are towards their love interests, with JD manipulating Veronica to be an accomplice in his murder plot. And Rhysand manipulating Feyre to believe her sexual assault was for her own good and that he isn’t an evil person after he was acting as Amarantha’s guard dog and killing children (winter court children), and like he doesn’t have control over his court to enforce laws.
Heather Chandler as Mor
She is the ringleader of the Heathers, she is bossy and the apex predator (mean girls reference whop) of Westerburg High School. She has a cold exterior and that persona doesn’t break through the whole musical/movie. Mor has a persona of herself, she acts like she cares for the women around but she benefits from the misogynistic system put in place by the men in the Night Court. On a side note but, Mor is a lesbian and Heather Chandler can be headcanonned as a lesbian. And red with red.
Heather McNamara as Elain Archeron
One of the nicest Heathers but still doesn’t stop their antagonism, complacent, , she is still there supporting them from the side, but isn’t actively as mean as Duke or Chandler. Elain while being a human turned fey like Nesta, her trauma from the event shaped her differently from Nesta. Becoming more reserved and distant to everyone, but even before she was turned her parallels with McNamara are still there with her not helping around the house (yet people don’t despise her for that yet villainise Nesta), she uses her gardening skill to plant flowers and not food. She protects her peace and wellbeing, but that peace comes at the expense of others. While she is not actively antagonistic towards Nesta like the Inner Circle is she still helps them move Nesta’s belongings into the House of Wind, like how Heather McNamara isn’t a active bully but still a bully
Heather Duke as Amren
One of the Heathers, she becomes a major antagonist once Chandler dies, taking over the red scrunchie, she suffers from Bulimia and was once friends with Martha when they were children. Amren is a century’s old monster who is trapped in a high fey body, she is a cold and calculating, she is constantly overlooked due to her appearance and characters can forget she is not like them, she is smarter than the other characters due to her age, Heather Duke in the movie is shown to be smarter than people's perceptions of her, shown to be reading during the croquet scene.
Martha Dunnstock as Nesta Archeron
Martha Dunnstock is a shy character, she is the subject of much of the bullying from the popular characters, and is ignored by Veronica once she gains favour with the cool kids. She tries to take her own life by jumping off a bridge, she survives but her suicide attempt is treated as a attempt to fit in with the cool kids. Nesta is similar to Martha, not because of her life before becoming fey but how she is treated by the Inner Circle. She is belittled and antagonised by them for not healing enough, even though they are 500+ and still not over things from decades ago and Nesta is 20. Her depression is not treated seriously by the other characters, seeing it as something to fix, forcing her into situations she doesn’t want to be in (stuck in a house with a man she has actively said she doesn’t want to be around) and are actually dangerous to her mental and physical health (the hike). [a slight tangent - Once she loses her power and conforms with the Inner Circle she is accepted, but not completely she is still seen as something to control with her weapons/made items not seen as something that she can give away without the permission of the men around her]
Kurt Kelly as Cassian
Kurt Kelly is a jock bully character, he is the one who made up the oral sex rumour against Veronica. Kurt is not a smart character and tries to make himself seem more powerful. Cassian uses his body and manner to make himself more powerful. He has a complex over being a bastard and wants to feel more powerful, he corners Nesta and uses his abilities to force her to train and go on hikes well beyond her body’s capabilities when she is meant to be healing. He exerts his power over women to make him feel powerful just like Kurt in ‘Blue’ and ‘Your Welcome’.
Ram Sweeney as Azriel
Ram Sweeney is a jock bully character, he is also dating Heather Mcnamara. Is a brute character and is not very smart. Now we don’t know much about Azriel as a character, he doesn’t speak and we don’t have many POV chapters from him unlike Cassian who got a whole book. But I think he isn’t a very good spy, many characters who aren’t in the Night Court know of Azriel as Rhysands Spymaster, the story also implies that he is a spy and not just the ones who is organising them so he can’t be a good spy if everyone knows he is a spy. In his POV chapter, frankly the first time we see for the first time who he is as a character as most of his personality is fanon. In his bonus chapter we learn that he is very horny like Rhysand and Cassian, he is near Elain and can’t help but become horny and filled with lust, he has no thoughts other than fucking Elain, there is no real romance for him he just wants her for her body thinking he is owed her, three sisters for three brother (ok house targaryen). This entitlement is shown in Ram Sweeney during the song ‘Blue’ and ‘Your Welcome’.

A Court of Thrones and Roses
Rating ~ ⭐⭐1/2
I finally got around to writing a proper review of this story, I read this book last October, it was the only book I read that month.
The story is not the type of fantasy I usually grasp towards, I like a heavy worldbuilding story where the world feels alive and I can feel the world and it's characters.
This story is not one of those, there is not much in the world as a whole, nor how the world is set out, we are mainly in three different settings, The Human Realm, Spring Court and Under the Mountain. How the fey work did not feel like fey, they felt like elves, the 'lesser fey' like Bogge, the fey should have a unworldly horror to them that the human characters cannot place, uncanny valley type. But the fey, specifically the 'high fey' just seemed like elves with pointy ears and a big dick.
I am a Nesta defender, she was one of the only characters I liked from the story, although she seemed standoffish she is shown to help around the house, While Feyre provided the financial and food for the family, Nesta is shown to cut up wood, and either her or Elain does the cooking because Feyre doesn't. Their father is a asshole and should be helping out more than the sisters.
I liked Tamlin, it took time for me to like him, but he seemed to be down to earth and cared for his people, and that he let Feyre leave before the 50 years were up for her own safety, dooming his court felt like a big step in his character.
Lucien tho, He is a favorite character, like Nesta, his personality as the comedic relief was needed and I liked his relationship with Tamlin, it makes the fey seem more human with their realtionships which is needed for Feyre to be able to bond with Tamlin.
I do not like Rhysand, I know he is the romatic lead for the rest of the story, but I cannot get past the sexual assult under the mountain, I've heard the argument that he was doing it for Feyre's mind because being angry is better than broken, but at the point in Feyre's capture the guards are leaving her alone and she is left alone, which isn't good, but she is out of the eye of Amarantha, not being tourtured. Rhysand takes her from that relative safety and into the spotlight (if there is any under the mountain) making her unsafe.
The Main Character, Feyre
She is not the best main character I've read but she has a personality which is better than most. She has wants and needs, she wants to care for her family and is fighting falling in love.
I have a theory that the mothers request to 'care for her sisters' was to Nesta and not to Feyre. Why would she request this on the youngest sister. and the mother (i've been spoiled for this bit) already has placed a lot of presurre onto Nesta to find a wealthy husband even as a child. And either the mother got confused as as children the sisters looked simualar or she said it to all of them, around her death bed and Feyre interpreted it as for her.

A Court of Mist and Fury
Rating ~ ⭐️
Finished reading ~ 9th January 2024
Ok so into the second book of ACOTAR, I found the 1st book dull but as my cousin is obsessed with this series and SJM, also everyone says book 2 is better, I gave the series another chance.
So I read it
It wasn’t good
They sit in townhouses talking instead of taking action on page. There is some dialogue of stuff that happened off screen that I would have killed to see, as SJM has a knack for horror and action when she feels like it. Unfortunate really.
There are modern things everywhere when I got the medieval vibe from the last book which confused me throughout the story. There are the aforementioned townhouses, but also café’s and nightclubs also a modern plumbing system. The world changed from the past book and doesn’t make it look like SJM put thought into the world.
Now for the big thing,
The character assassination of Tamlin. Going into this book I knew that Rhysand would be the end love interest, but I didn’t realize how badly this was done. Maas gave the traits and characteristics that Tamlin had and gave them to Rhysand. I would have liked it better is Maas stuck to the villainous Rhysand from book one and made it a corruption arc for Feyre.
Feyre is literally going back on things she thinks during the previous book. Making me think that Maas is making her brainwashed by Rhysand but I don’t want to give her that brevity.
If Sarah didn’t like Tamlin just kill him off, a love of duty of breaking the curse than reality once the danger is gone or literally anything else.
The actions of Tamlin and Rhysand are similar but Rhysand is given grace and Tamlin is not.
The book also forgets the sexual assault that Rhysand commits, Feyre should be having a full breakdown during a lot of the book especially the scene in the court of nightmares. More over Rhysand should also be traumatized as he was also assaulted under the mountain.
Sooo mates…
I am known by my friends for not liking the soulmates trope, I like seeing the characters struggle with their love and working through it. Not some predetermined fate by a random deity. I like it when stories show a soulmates trope isn’t necessarily romantic love but any kind of love.
This book is giving omega-verse, the deity’s in this world give you a fuck buddy. For the perfect children, it’s giving eugenics.
Also the use of ‘male’ and ‘female’ instead of man and woman gives me the ick.
