If I start my sentence with "Girl" I mean it in a gay way like I'm about to bitch to you about my coworkers who I hate and who I am nothing but nice to. If I start my sentence with "Maaan" I mean it in a tired teen boy way. Like Shaggy learning that he's eaten the last of his vile sandwiches

The decade you’re given is the decade to which you’re transported. Your geographic location doesn’t change; only the time period changes. “Equivalent QOL” means a qualify of life that approximates the life you have now and anticipate being able to have in the future.
#1830’s#honestly like maybe i could scrape by doing housework and ignoring by trans and queer identities but i doubt it#idk if there were already those ‘female husbands’ by then but maybe i could make do with that

I think one of the funniest Veilguard complaints that I've seen people say genuinely ruins the game for them is "Why is Bellara, a mage, fighting with a BOW"
My guys. There is literally no reason mages can't use regular weapons. At all. The ability to shoot fire does not make you allergic to swords. It makes sense why the Chantry wouldn't teach circle mages to fight with martial weapons (makes them too scary), but not only is Veilguard determined not to talk about the circle, Bellara's DALISH
Why WOULDN'T Dalish mages know how to use a bow?? Why WOULDN'T they integrate it into their magic use?? Dalish from the Chargers already hinted at this!
The fact that Veilguard gave us a mage using a cool new technique for her magic that some people had even been asking for and a not-insubstantial part of the fandom got mad because it's not like the past games is hilarious. Not giving one thought to how cool a mage with a bow is. It's sorta the perfect analogy for critique of this game as a whole

Clarifiers: Anything can happen. Neither you nor the character can leave the room at all in the next 24 hours. You're not Tav/Durge, you’re you. They have all their abilities (just can’t leave the room).

not gonna lie, when i saw that a cybertruck had exploded i legit didn't realize it was some sort of premeditated thing, i just thought it was just another extreme flaw in it's design. i had no idea fireworks were involved, i honest to god thought it just did that on its own

the tv show "the torment nexus game is bad" being a poignant critique of wage slavery and class disparity and capitalism that is popularized in the west by big tv corporation bc it makes them money, then being turned into "the torment nexus game is bad: the game show" by the most souless and therefore most popular youtuber because it makes him money, so then big tv corporation makes their OWN "the torment nexus game is bad: the OFFICIAL game show" to make even more money off the "the torment nexus game is bad" fictional critique of capitalism tv show, and then it turns out that many allegations of torment nexus-like conditions come out of both reality tv game shows but there aren't any consequences. and then Bigger Corporation goes to the soulless youtuber and is like. lets make another "the torment nexus game is bad" -esque game show to make us a lot of money because the people stuck in the torment nexus love that shit. it's called "the torment nexus game is fun :-)" and then the writer of the "the torment nexus game is bad" posts on twitter that he fucking hates his own story and what it has become. you would think this is a plot from a heavy-handed early black mirror episode but it is unfortunately a plot from real life

The saddest thing is not when there is a boring story. The saddest thing is when there is an expansive lore setting with unique aesthetics but it’s tied to a behemoth of a corporate product so that they can never risk exploring it to its full potential.
No we can’t make any of the characters we want people to buy too morally ambiguous or kill them off. Better play it safe.
No we can’t try new art direction when there is potentially millions of dollars riding on each character’s popularity.
No the story has to revolve around how we release the next update and never have a finish line in sight.
Yeah you know that amazing tidbit of lore. Well it might not be marketable according to complaints on social media so after going in that direction for a bit we axed it so people won’t ever get to experience it.
#dragon age#as much as i love veilguard it could’ve been so much better#i know those writers have nuanced characters in them and i don’t imagine they opted out of fleshing them out
