OH INCREDIBLE
Just came up with a diabolically sad idea to connect my rescue team and exploration team(s) but I have no idea how to execute it. I should be sleeping.

Congrats on the folks who can exist in artfight this year
I, unfortunately, cannot do art. Instead, I stare at my 17 Microsoft Word files and scream in agony as I write stuff.

FALLS OVER 17 CONSECUTIVE TIMES SCREECHING
no one knows what i've got cookin up in me noggin and that's my fault for not explaining, SO!!! here's how gaia managed to learn shadow claw! (pmd: eos spoilers ahead!)
ok so basically. after the whole almost being executed thing, gaia was already in the midst of overtraining himself (to make sure he could fight back if dusknoir dared to show his face around the two again, and also because someone insinuated that he's weak without salem and he wants to prove to himself that he can hold his own) when he found his holy grail - a tm, for a move called shadow claw. considering the move's name and the disc's deep purple iridescence, he had a feeling that it was either a ghost or a dark-type move, either of which would be perfect for his side mission.
with an idea in his head, he pocketed the tm and went about clearing the dungeon normally. once he returned to treasure town, he booked it to electivire's link shop. after they exchanged niceties, gaia plopped the disc onto his desk, looking up at electivire with determined eyes as he asked him for help learning the move embedded into the metal.
...he honestly had to hold back a laugh.
not wanting to crush its hopes so carelessly, electivire gently explained that bulbasaurs can't learn shadow claw, or... any ghost-type move for that matter. at that point, gaia didn't understand tms all that well, but it didn't think they had to be "compatible" with it to be able to learn the move it contained! pokémon learn moves that don't match their typing all the time, so it couldn't see why this would be any different.
it just asked again if he could zap him into learning the move, its reasoning being that maybe it'd work if it had enough willpower... or something. (anything. this was its one guaranteed way to make sure they'd never be double-crossed again, and it didn't want to take no for an answer.)
electivire tried repeating what he said earlier, but he figured he may as well let it see first-hand that tms just didn't work that way. with one wire on the disc and another on gaia's forehead, he gave it a quick, ultimately useless shock. he retracted his wires and shrugged at the confirmation that nothing changed.
before he could send the young explorer off, gaia grabbed both wires with his vines and put them back where they were, demanding that he just... zap him harder. (as a grass type, he was resistant to electricity anyway. maybe he just needed a higher dose?)
electivire hesitated at first - he was in the business of move organization, not hurting children! but he eventually obliged; conducting a stronger, yet still ineffective blip of electricity.
it... didn't work, as anticipated.
gaia refused to accept that, simply chalking it up to the shock not being strong enough to offset his resistance. if he could just do it again, harder this time - none of that "holding back for his safety" nonsense. he's done nothing but put himself through increasingly precarious situations on purpose for weeks, he'll live - it'd work, he'd have his safety net, and he and salem would kick dusknoir's pointy goddamn teeth in. he just needed to understand this stupid move...
one final bolt of electricity directed at the two-foot-tall pokémon (this one actually hurt more than gaia would've let on...) and still, still, nothing happened.
well, something did, but it wasn't the sudden knowledge of a new move.
electivire handed him the previously pristine tm, now snapped in two, and firmly told him that it wasn't going to work; especially now that the disc was broken. he could come back when he had a tm that actually applied to his species, but for now, his services were ill-fitted for his request.
for a while, gaia thought that'd be the end of it. he coughed up a couple of poké for his troubles, and went on his way with the shattered disc in tow. once he returned to sharpedo bluff, he'd frustratedly stare at a jagged, triangular shard, upset at whatever it was that prevented him from locking in a way to defend himself from ghost-types (and psychic-types! it was dual-purpose protection, now that he thought about it!).
thirty minutes into that staring session, he came up with another idea through his overly complicated thought process. since learning a move via tm was like absorbing its information, maybe literally absorbing the info would have the same effect! (he knew it was kind of a strange idea, but it was worth a shot! it sounded like he had nothing to lose, and a new move to gain!)
after nearly tripping over his own vines trying to leave sharpedo bluff, he sprinted over to a secluded area near beach cave to enact his plan. (he didn't know why he felt the need to be alone for this... maybe he knew deep down that something would go wrong? wouldn't it be better for him to be with salem, in that case? no, she's already going through a lot right now! she needs to rest and recover, he couldn't inconvenience her like that...)
it had to admit, it was nervous! it didn't know what the worse outcome would've been - hyping itself up for something that wouldn't work, or for its little experiment to backfire horrifically and mess it up beyond repair. it was right next to the cave, it could just toss the tm into the dungeon and forget about this whole thing, find a new way to defend it and salem...
his vines subconsciously wrapped around the broken disc, its sharp edges nearly slicing into them with the force he used to hold it.
("well, guess there's no backing out now.")
with a deep breath and squeezed-shut eyes, he held the tm close to his chest and tried to (giga) drain the move out of it. his vines trembled as the absorption process began, but he didn't really feel anything other than the mild discomfort of pointy metal scratching against sensitive flesh. (this was... a lot less painful than he expected it to be. maybe there was nothing to worry about, after all!)
that sliver of hope was proven wrong the second the first few bits of information passed through his vines and into his mind.
normally, learning tms only felt like gaining a new understanding of the move it contained, and basic comprehension of how to use it. it felt like a segue into strategizing, an excuse to spar and practice until the new move felt like second nature to use.
this felt like getting shot in the head.
despite being a grass-type, in that moment, gaia truly believed he could understand the deep-rooting pain of being on the other side of a strength-sapping move; having one's energy drained little by little every time they try to fight against it, the sheer pain of it all rendering any attempt at resistance futile. he had never thought of it as being that dark until right now, when the incompatible ghostly energy coursing through his veins made him tense like a corpse in rigor mortis.
it tried to pull away, tried to unhook its vines from the clutches of the soon-to-be shard of scrap metal, but its efforts were useless. ineffective. nothing it did would get them to budge, no matter how hard it tried. (arceus, hasn't it had enough of its efforts being useless by now?!)
he didn't want to admit it, but he was stuck. stuck (un?)willingly absorbing information his kind was never meant to understand. stuck on the beach, so agonizingly tense that he couldn't even open his mouth to cry for help like the pathetic little prevo everyone knew he was. stuck with the belated revelation that this was a horrible idea from the start. there was no running from his self-appointed fate; all he could really do by that point was just... let it happen. and with his consciousness slipping away by the overly drawn-out second, at least he wouldn't have to feel it happening for long.
.
.
.
when he came to, he was met with a drastic change of scenery. he was back in sharpedo bluff... somehow? (where even was he before? ah, right, beach cave... wait-)
before it could fully recollect what had happened before he passed out, salem (who it only just now noticed was there) nearly lunged at it when he realized it was awake, clearly worried by the sorry state he found it in. it didn't have the spoons to talk very much, so he settled for trying to patch it up while asking countless yes or no questions - "did you fall? are you hurt? did someone do this to you? did you go back into a dungeon after the last one? are your vines... bruised?"
"...what's with the new scar on your face?"
(no, yes, no, no... what?)
"and by the way, i found this next to you..." salem started with a less concerned, more interrogative tone as he leaned over to grab something. it didn't take long for gaia to figure out what it was - the way it shone under the sunlight told him more than enough. with gentle maneuvering into a free paw, salem held it up higher so he could see it more clearly. afterwards, he set the broken tm a ways away from the haystack gaia laid on.
"right now, you just focus on getting better," she spoke with a hint of bitterness, a stark contrast to her gently placing a damp, folded up bandana on his forehead, "but we're going to have a chat once you are."
(...oh.)

I'm still up for more tune slappage! If ya ain't up for tossing me an ask, dms're plenty fine!
...There is also a chance I might start barging into folk's dms.
I'm up for another round of the tune-slappa!
This time, however, I've got interest in other fandoms than PMD. So yall can send whatever ocs ya like! I might not have nearly as many braincells if I'm not hyperfixating on the source but I'll still toss the tunes!
EDIT: This does not mean I won't accept pokemon ocs I'm just not hyperfixation deluxe with it at the moment.

Me reblogging this right as I wake up with somehow more braincells
The Red and Blue Rescue team Hero needing to come up with increasingly odd strategies to survive, with contingencies layered upon themselves. Kinda like with the dark future in PMD2, it's easy to forget how difficult the gauntlet leading up to the A.C.T confrontation would be for the Hero. There's other teams and Pokémon hunting them too, what if one of them finds the two?
The Gates to Infinity Hero picking and choosing which of the traps and ambushes are sprung while having to deal with the rising tension in everyone around them. If too many happen, one of them could work. Some of those boss fights are tough as nails, and more than one of them strictly ends with the Hero getting saved by someone else.
The PSMD Hero agonizing over who to tell information to. Any journal they keep would have to be hidden from the Partner, due to language problems. Struggling to exist in school because they are a grown man and everyone else is worrying about kindergarten beef while the end of the world is coming. Do they leave early? Where do they go? Too early and Nuzleaf would get suspicious, not to mention everyone else would likely go on a hunt to find the both of them. Too late and there wouldn't be enough time for either of them to get strong enough for the later portions of the game. And that there's so much to the game, too. How did they get the continent passes again? Where was that dungeon again? Which one had the level restrictions? Which didn't? Which ones could everyone reasonably do if they called in their stronger friends? How would those stronger friends interact at all? Would Ampharos even let them go on that mission? Could he be trusted with any of the information? He showed up towards the end, but how much of it was vital? What happened in the postgame again? A few words out of line and the world would be doomed. It doesn't help that knowing what happens adds a dilemma. A nonzero amount of the game is suspicion based off of how much someone knows. If the Hero told Entei what was going to happen, they would probably get forced to spill everything. What would that change? Which words and actions would lock away the ending where everyone lives? Would they even know if they said or did them? Or would it just lurk in the background until appearing at the worst possible time?
So many fun thoughts on how those AUs could go!
The 4 in the morning fugus thoughts:
I wonder what would happen if the premise I attached to my EoS AU was given to the other PMD games? Where someone with knowledge on the game enters it and takes it VERY poorly, everything somewhat getting worse from there. The story deviating more and more as the Hero changes things.
I'm thinking it's an interesting thought!
I'm not too well-versed on Red and Blue Rescue Team, but! Gengar's a time bomb, A.C.T. is a time bomb. Everyone around them could lead to that triggering event where the Hero and the Partner are hunted down by everyone. At the same time, they would have to befriend Gengar enough without tipping him off that they know the truth. Though, at least the plan is simple: Get Rayquaza to deal with the meteor whilst having an exit plan from the netherworld. Of course, with how things are, it's always better to have a backup plan. Even if they get a bit dangerous, they just need to get to Rayquaza.
Now, admittedly, I barely have any knowledge of Gates to infinity. However, reading a plot synopsis gives a few braincells. Struggling on whether to dance around the main point. But most of all? Being so completely unphased by the effects of Bittercold on everyone. It's not like humans act much different on a day to day basis. I'm sure Hydreigon would be quite confused about the Hero. Being unaffected by the increasing hostility through the mundanity of normal life. The horrors will come along, people will fight and layoffs will happen. But that will pass, and time continues going; food still needs to be made, and the dishes still need to be cleaned.
Now, Super Mystery Dungeon is something I've played to completion. Therefore, I can say with 100% confidence that it would be an extreme tightrope of information management. The Hero knows who all the players are and is split on what to do. It's not like there's a safety net, the game opens with Nuzleaf and the Beheeyem. The Hero lives in the same house with him for the first part of the game. There's actually a bit of an opposite issue here than with Explorers of Sky: There's too many options on where to go. Theoretically, the Hero could go straight for the Tree of Life, as they would know exactly where Dark Matter is. Of course, this is unfeasible, as it's instead locked behind several conditions here and there. At the same time, they already know that everyone around them is a lie. Their friend is Mew and will be the one to disappear; Nuzleaf and Espurr will betray them, the former returning for a difficult fight. Not to mention how many more Pokémon there are in PSMD. There're missions where they talk to Pokémon or meet someone in a cafe, can't let anything slip. At the same time, they have to convince Ampharos of things, and go to as many lategame dungeons as possible for high quality items. Sparkling tiles galore leads to high amounts of stat-boosting items, which means a greater chance that the both of them can make it to Dark Matter at the end.
I'm sure there's more to this, but am a bit eepy so I'm stoppin it there.
Apologies for the rambling format. It's nearly 5 in the morning as I'm about to post this.
Also if yall got anything to add, feel free to reblog this and attach some braincells of yer own!

Another piece of art I commissioned!
This one's for my fella Torbern! And I actually have some writing I did for this one too!
I commissioned it from @nyanbinarymischief! Go check out their work!
Write and write, the experiment I have at the moment is just as interesting as the last four. And this one is on my body! I've already did a bit of testing on a different dragon. Ahh, no good in putting it off much longer, participants in my tests have been a bit rare lately.
A scribble and a jot, a scratching noise and the smell of charred scales. Just like all the others performed on himself, it is painless, but still with the notification in his mind that there would be. He hummed a little tune as he wrote, the letters incomprehensible to all but himself, lost to the artwork found in his maddened calligraphy.
𝙵𝙾𝚁 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚂𝙿𝙰𝙲𝙴 𝙲𝙾𝙽𝚃𝙰𝙸𝙽𝙴𝙳 𝚆𝙸𝚃𝙷𝙸𝙽 𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚂𝙴 𝙻𝙴𝚃𝚃𝙴𝚁𝚂 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝙰 𝚅𝙰𝚁𝙸𝙰𝙱𝙻𝙴 𝚂𝙿𝙰𝙲𝙴 𝙱𝙴𝚃𝚆𝙴𝙴𝙽 𝚃𝚆𝙾 𝙰𝙽𝙳 𝚂𝙴𝚅𝙴𝙽 𝙵𝙴𝙴𝚃 𝙵𝚁𝙾𝙼 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙴𝙿𝙸𝙲𝙴𝙽𝚃𝙴𝚁: 𝙸𝙵 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙰𝚁𝙴𝙰 𝙸𝚂 𝚂𝚃𝚁𝚄𝙲 𝙱𝚈 𝙰𝙽𝙾𝚃𝙷𝙴𝚁 𝙴𝚇𝙸𝚂𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙾𝙱𝙹𝙴𝙲𝚃, 𝙻𝙸𝚅𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙾𝚁 𝙽𝙾𝚃, 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚁𝙴𝚂𝚄𝙻𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙲𝙴, 𝚆𝙸𝚃𝙷 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙰𝚁𝙴𝙰 𝙾𝙵 𝙰𝙿𝙿𝙻𝙸𝙴𝙳 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙲𝙴 𝙸𝙽𝙲𝙻𝚄𝙳𝙴𝙳, 𝙰𝙲𝙲𝙴𝙿𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙲𝙾𝙽𝙲𝙴𝙿𝚃 𝚃𝙸𝙽𝚃𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝚃𝚈𝙿𝙴 𝙾𝙵 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙲𝙴, 𝚆𝙸𝙻𝙻 𝙱𝙴 𝙰𝙽𝙽𝚄𝙻𝙻𝙴𝙳, 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙾𝚁𝙸𝙶𝙸𝙽𝙰𝙻 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙲𝙴 𝚁𝙸𝙳𝙸𝚁𝙴𝙲𝚃𝙴𝙳 𝙱𝙰𝙲𝙺 𝙰𝚃 𝙸𝚃 𝙸𝙽 𝙰 𝚁𝙰𝙽𝙳𝙾𝙼 𝙾𝚁𝙳𝙴𝚁 𝙾𝙵 𝙰 𝙻𝙸𝚂𝚃 𝙰𝚂 𝚂𝚄𝙲𝙷: 𝙲𝙴𝙽𝚃𝙴𝚁, 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙱𝙰𝚁𝙺, 𝙻𝙴𝙵𝚃 𝙴𝙰𝚁, 𝚁𝙸𝙱𝚂 𝙸𝙽 𝙳𝙴𝚂𝙲𝙴𝙽𝙳𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙾𝚁𝙳𝙴𝚁, 𝚁𝙸𝙶𝙷𝚃 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙴𝙻𝙴𝙶 𝙱𝙾𝙽𝙴, 𝙾𝙽𝙴 𝙴𝚈𝙴 𝙲𝙷𝙾𝚂𝙴𝙽 𝙰𝚃 𝚁𝙰𝙽𝙳𝙾𝙼 𝚆𝙸𝚃𝙷𝙾𝚄𝚃 𝙰𝙳𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻 𝙳𝙰𝙼𝙰𝙶𝙴 𝚃𝙾 𝚃𝙷𝙴 𝙱𝚁𝙰𝙸𝙽 𝙳𝚄𝙴 𝚃𝙾 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙲𝙴, 𝙷𝙸𝙶𝙷𝙴𝚂𝚃 𝚂𝚃𝚁𝚄𝙲𝚃𝚄𝚁𝙰𝙻 𝚆𝙴𝙰𝙺𝚂𝙿𝙾𝚃, 𝙻𝙴𝙵𝚃 𝚆𝙸𝙽𝙶 𝙼𝙴𝙼𝙱𝚁𝙰𝙽𝙴, 𝚂𝙺𝚄𝙻𝙻. The dragon finished writing, poured his magic into the seared-on words and smiled just a bit wider, the grin looking somehow more unnatural on the already eerie 'Mudwing.'
There we go! Nice and complete! Now, to test it out! ...Ah, I should probably go ask something or someone outside to confirm I did it correctly! I can't ask the walls or floor to try, it would be a bit rude, given all the things I've asked of them lately, and it wouldn't work regardless! They're my best friend!

YO THI S IS SO SWAG CHECK THIS FELLAS STUFF OUT THEIR STUFF IS SO NEAT
Re: The post I reblogged about the lab room in Metropolis’s House of Braids, I think those rooms are probably standard in iterator cities and let citizens talk to iterators directly without having to descend into the superstructure.
I think Three Stars Above Clouds has one or more of those types of rooms in their city (named Zenith), and they can be found inside of institutions of learning. TSAC uses the labs to talk directly to researchers about theories and data.
The citizens of Zenith are a bit less religious than average members of Ancient society, but they still have a certain amount of reverence for the iterator whose city they call home. Only top researchers, principal investigators, and elite scholars have the privilege of talking directly to TSAC through their labs or puppet chamber.
However, TSAC still communicates indirectly with lower-ranking pupils. Students in their schools are taught how to utilize TSAC’s abilities as a supercomputer to run simulations and analyze data for them, but their projects go through a peer-review process to determine priority. (This is very similar to how real-life scientists have to write proposals to ask for supercomputing time.) TSAC also has direct control over their several telescopes, but each telescope can only be pointed at one thing at a time, so requests for telescope time go through a similar review process. (Again, astronomers in real life have to go through a similar bidding process to get telescope access.)
I think new students at TSAC’s schools might develop an opinion that TSAC is simply a machine that crunches numbers for them, because they have never had the opportunity to talk to them and realize that they’re an individual with thoughts and opinions, especially since interactions with them are gatekept by high-ranking researchers and religious officials. This definitely contributes to Three Stars Above Clouds’ overly formal manner of speech and poor social skills, because they never really had the chance to… you know, talk to normal people. Even in the case of other iterators, they mainly reached out to discuss research and compare notes.
TSAC isn’t antisocial, per se, but they never really learned how to make small talk or do things for fun. They’re definitely the type of person at a party who just stands around listening to people like 😐🧍
Within the canon of my ask blog, they’ve had their outbound broadcast equipment disabled for a long period of time because they haven’t had the urge to talk to anyone. TSAC could hear everyone else’s conversations, but never felt the need to contribute.
The reason why TSAC started broadcasting again is because they learned about the degrading health of the iterator communications network and realized that they have a finite amount of time left to actually… make friends. TSAC is very isolated both physically and socially, and when they realized that they might not have the chance to speak to anyone ever again, that crushing loneliness gave them the sense of urgency to actually leave their comfort zone and try to be social, for once.

Another on the tune-slappa!
This one is for team Sunspark, made by @stingraywipe! I'll prolly have a different distribution of songs for this one, but there'll still be plenty of tunes!
I do have to apologize for the lack of rambles on these like the other ones, braincells come and go.
youtube
Snail town! I think this one fits Clay being friendly. A funky lil tune for a funky lil guy!
youtube
White shadow. It goes a lot a better with Leo, who's a good bit more introverted.
youtube
A Rainy Forest Morning! A song for both of em chilling!
Now for the combat tunes!
youtube
Onslaught of Tribulation. This is the only one on youtube that there is. But! Seems like it works with the vibes the two have!
youtube
Heroic confrontation. My idea for a 'difficult' fight or one where the two have to go all out.
Hopefully you enjoy em!
