I’m glad that we as a society have realized that shitting on dubbed anime isn’t cool however it is annoying that it’s somehow come full circle and now I’ve found myself needing to justify why I don’t like watching dubs lol

for me it’s just like… anime aside, why would I want to watch any piece of media not in its original language? I just like hearing the original language of the thing I’m watching. That’s why I don’t watch dubs. And if I say this people will then try to explain why they watch things dubbed even though those situations don’t apply to me and also I don’t care what other people do I’m talking about myself.

“well I’m doing other stuff and playing [thing] in the background” ok nice but I don’t do that with tv and movies. “I have dyslexia/etc other issue that prevents me from reading subtitles” that’s perfectly fine and that’s why dubs are an accessibility tool however I do not have that issue. so I will continue to watch things in their original language with subtitles and you can continue doing whatever works for you!

the problem with this poll imo (not op’s fault) is putting 1997-2010 together, I understand that that is the generally accepted gen z cut off but I feel like the majority of “gen z” on tumblr who have been on tumblr are on the older side (1997-2001 or so) and since all of those people are picking the gen z option it’s making it seem like there’s a ton of teenagers on here. For my own curiosity I would love to see a poll that’s a bit more narrowed down (but again, ik that technically is the gen z cut off so Tumblr’s report is still accurate)

I remember being so spooked by Milchick and Cobel in season 1 their actors are so talented and they had such a great uncanny creepy vibe, especially since they were the ones with power and knowledge over the protagonists and obviously as the audience sympathizing with the innies you grow to hate them for their behavior

but in season 2 I’m literally out here like “omg my besties Milchick and Cobel 😍😍 what heinous crimes against the innies will they commit today 🥰🥰🥰”

I like Gemma because she seems cool and sweet. And I want her to be free and safe. And I want her character to be developed further. And also I don't feel anything about her and Mark as a couple beyond knowing that they are.

Hellyna is one of THE most interesting characters on american television right now so it is very annoying to see her reduced to just being half of a ship (both by the people who ship it and the people who anti the ship for some reason) or have people vehemently hate one entire essential half of her personality bc she’s too evil for the morality police type of fans to allow themselves to like

She’s literally the epitome of the “people say they want complex female characters but can’t even handle ___” meme, like what do you MEAN the most anti-Lumon rebellious worker on the severed floor is THEEEE heiress to the Eagan empire so when devoid of context every aspect of her that rebels is born of her privilege and entitlement?? She hates herself (mutually) bc both halves of her have what the other wants??? Hello are we seeing this !!!

And I am very tired of people treating Helly R and Helena as two separate individual entities when the entire point of this goddamn show is that innies and outies are NOT completely different people!! It isn’t surprising that Helly is a popular likable character when viewed as a separate entity from Helena, but the most interesting thing about both of them is that THEY ARE THE SAME! Helly is great but she’d be infinitely less complex and compelling if she wasn’t also the literal spawn of satan like how r u not getting this
