can we take a moment to dwell on how ooc daeho was in season three?
okay, sure, maybe I can understand changing a character entirely to show the audience that they don’t know what’s going to happen. And it was a relatively decent example of people lying and tricking everyone as a defense mechanism.
but cmon, really? daeho was already a complex character as is. We knew nothing about this man except that he was in the marines and most likely had abusive parents. But making the ONLY little thing we had on his lore a LIE is crazy work.
but, i think the issue I had with this is that the scene itself just wasnt good.
and listen, I have absolutely ZERO beef with episode two season three of squid games. It is genuinely one of my favorite episodes to ever exist out of any show ever. but, the scene of daeho admitting to gihun that his tattoo is fake and that he is a liar was done SO terribly.
I think that if this was the path they wanted to go down with his character, they could have made it a little moment, or gave him some other lore to replace it, maybe something that told us a little more why he is such a coward.
but instead we got him ugly crying telling gihun, “hey im a big fat liar! but like im scared! so please dont kill me!”
i dont know, maybe it is just me, but I did not like daeho is season three AT ALL.

I am SO upset about season three of squid games and let me tell you why.
season two re-introduced Inho / The Frontman as a character and expanded SO much on his lore. They showed his emotions, how he experienced joy, sorrows, and more, all the same as any other person.
season two also, as I have previously posted about, showed the connection between gihun and inho. It showed just how similar they were, both in experience and character.
THEN, in season three, they went even FURTHER with that idea, showing how, the opportunity that gihun is presented before the final games is the SAME EXACT opportunity given to inho. Again, showing how insanely similar their characters and lore is. Almost PERFECTLY matching. The only thing different about them is their views on the human population (although I think this show shows their views beautifully)
the reason I am upset is because of the final games. This ENTIRE season we got NO interaction with inho with ANY of the characters, not even his own brother. His character was given SO much and then had it all taken because they wanted to focus more on the boat scenes that literally went NO WHERE.
you guys… we spent AN ENTIRE EPISODE watching these ensemble characters that everyone could care less about play something that isnt even a game and look stupid doing it.
WHILE WE COULD BE GETTING GIHUN - INHO SCENES INHO - JUNHO SCENES. HE WAS SO UNDERMINED IN THIS SEASON AND IT SICKENS ME.
(not to mention that the ONLY scene we got between either of those duos took less then TEN MINUTES of the entire season)

there’s a scene in season two, episode two of squid games, at the very end when gihun is in the car talking to inho, asking to join the games again
in this scene, gihun asks to be put back into the games, inho responds with “you want to play the games again?” and gihuns following statement is “I want you to put me in again.”
the reason im drawing attention to this is because gihun says “i want you to put me in again” trying to correct inhos question, because he is under the impression he wont have to actually play the games. He thinks that his team will find him before anything happens. His plan is that they will attack almost immediately to save everyone that’s in there
but, the reason inho says “you want to play the games again?” in the first place is because he knows what gihun is planning, he knows that despite his efforts he WILL be forced to play again, and he knows his team won’t find him
I know this is a strange thing to analyze but after your sixth time watching this show you kind of start to analyze everything LOL

what I would like to clarify about this post is that when i said this i was in NO way saying that gihun is just as bad of a person as inho or inho is just as good of a person as gihun
what i meant, and should have clarified, is that most of the fandom seems to be under the impression that inho simply doesnt care about anything and does what he does for the fun of it
what i was saying was that he is JUST AS MUCH a victim to the games as gihun was
his actions will NEVER be justified, but, as many of you have said, can be explained because of this
in-ho is just as much a victim as gi-hun; but yall arent ready for that conversation

I think gi-hun was destined to be alone and it absolutely destroys me.
In season one, he has the option to stay or leave the games, he chooses to leave, they win the vote, and he leaves, almost immediately realizing how much he needs the money. So he returns.
He goes back for the sole reason of trying to save his mom from her illness and keep contact with his daughter. He goes back so he doesn’t end up alone because without them he will have NO ONE.
When he does go back, he wins, and returns with the money that he needed just to find his mom DEAD ON THEIR LIVING ROOM FLOOR before he could make it back to her.
He was SO traumatized he couldn’t bring himself to contact his daughter or jung-bae or anyone.
He spends all his time trying to find out who’s running the games so he can try and end them. When he does figure out the little he does, which mind you is more then he’s figured out these past FOUR YEARS OF ISOLATION, he returns to the games.
Even though he makes “friends” such as dae-ho and jun-hee, gi-hun very obviously tries to keep his distance so he does not get emotionally attached because he knows they might not make it.
Expect with jung-bae and young-il (in-ho) because they make him feel so cared for and safe it is just natural and in his nature to befriend them, talk to them, and care for them, like he’s known them his whole life.
Just for them both to die with him watching/ listening!!
This man can have NOTHING and it makes me sick.

I don’t think anyone understands how deep the connection between gihun and inho is
of course there is many many reasons but the one i see most important is that fact that they BOTH went into the games to make money FOR A LOVED ONE and then won, got the money, made it back JUST FOR THEM TO BE DEAD.
and everyone LOVES to call inho a bad guy, you guys, this man is watching someone, who went through EXACTLY what he did, go through it, and then handle it the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of how he did.
for such a MAJOR trauma (that I believe inho himself still doesn’t fully understand) it makes sense for him to be so incredibly fascinated with gihun and how his brain works (which is also what makes their dynamic seem so lovey dovey)
which brings me back to the beginning, they are almost identical because one of the main reasons they are in the second games is because THEY WANT ANSWERS ABOUT WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH (and are still going through)!!!!
you guys.. i am NOT normal about this show dhmu

just came to the realization that in-ho will most likely not survive season three, so, gi-hun will have been responsible for his only three best friends deaths
(Sung-Woo, Jung-bae, and Young-il/In-ho)
I am NOT okay with this yall, someone give this man a MOMENT to breathe, I beg 🙁

I hate when fanart begins to make me ship two characters that aren’t canon, it’s like a never ending spiral of “it’s never gonna happen”
“think of canon think of canon think of canon” I say as they drag me to the asylum
