Nant Mill Woods is a small part of the Clywedog Valley trail in Wrexham and I had heard that it is a great place to photograph Wild Garlic in the spring and as I wasn’t very happy with the quality of my Bluebell photos I decided to try again with the Garlic. Finally the day arrived and I received my camera back from Nikon fixed and with several new parts and after jumping up and down with joy I set to organising our next trip out to Wales. I had hoped that we would be able to get out before the snow melted and mid March saw us off to Dyffryn Ogwen, the Ogwen Valley, the scene of the crime (the dropped camera), for a chilly day out. Gone back to 2018 in my catalogue and found these three images from Liverpool. Camera update* There is a problem getting parts from Tokyo and no eta on getting it back, I'm also worried that my insurance company is not going to cover it as the policy is only a few months old. At this time I don't know what I'm going to do. You may have seen on previous posts that last time I was out in the Ogwen valley I dropped my camera and damaged the lens, well the repair estimate is here and at £650 it's not as bad as it could have been I guess. Back re editing Nant Mill scenes, I just love the colours in the first scene and would eventually like to print it possibly onto aluminium. I had a deep dive into a hard drive yesterday and way back in 2015 I took my family to Nante Mills for a family portrait which was a great excuse for some landscape photography. These images have been reworked but I can really see how immature they are compared to my photography now, I am pleased with how my technique has improved and my knowledge has grown, I feel that yes its down to practice but also through the amazing YouTube videos of people like @peggyclear @nigel.danson and @fototripper to name a few who have selflessly shared their knowledge. Thanks in part to them I feel I'm getting better at creating the images I strive to create but where are all the female photographers? Tu Hwnt i’r Bont (Beyond the Bridge) Got to see this beautiful tea room in  Llanrwst just after the foliage peaked but it was still a spectacular sight. These are my latest polaroid soaks, I left them in plain cold water in a tub for 2 weeks. They were taken out when the emulsion started to lift away creating a lovely bubbly kind of effect. There are so many different techniques you can use on Polaroid film to create unique art, here are a few examples. 1, manipulating the film as it develops with a blunt instrument. 2, soak in a mild chemical solution for several weeks and embellish with coloured foils. 3, manipulate film and embellish. 4, peel apart fresh film which leaves an image on the back of the film. After our last visit to Llanberis and the Lonely tree our sights turned towards other areas of Wales that we hadn’t visited before and this time we chose the Ogwen valley as there seemed to be a lot of interesting photographs coming from that area, it was also half an hour closer to home so we didn’t have to get up so early. This is the other side to my photography, I shoot with vintage polaroid cameras and use a polaroid lab to create polaroid emulsion lifts. I started experimenting with polaroid film a few years ago. Last one of the very wet day we spent at llyn idwald in the Ogwen valley. Miss my 10-24mm nikkor lens, unfortunately it doesn't fit the nikon z7.
