Here’s a bunch of Robert Blackman’s original Ferengi costume sketches for DS9, complete with fabric swatches!!!!! These were all found on an auction website and consistently sold for under $250, which killllls me. One set of original Quark sketches sold for only $80 ?!?!?!

Also, I don’t know if he eventually colored in photocopies, but the black and white drawings with fabric swatches but no indication of what goes where tells me Blackman must have had a good communication with the costume shops that built his costumes. The proportions of his sketches versus the immaculate fits of the finished costumes also tells me that he was probably very active in fittings, as well.

The way Improbable Cause features the bantering between Garak and Bashir where Garak is moaning about how bored he is and how he has nothing to fill his time while he's literally been scoping out an assassin on the station and concocting an elaborate plan to get said assassin caught and constructing a bomb to blow up his own shop... I love Garak and Kira because their characters are like... Yeah, trauma doesn't make you a better person. Sometimes trauma just makes you a bitter, caustic individual filled with regret and self loathing. That doesn't make you any less worthy of care or healing or community. It's not the trauma that saves you, it's community and being given the love we were denied. Pain isn't virtue.
