I read that French Dispatch got a 9-minute standing ovation at Cannes. Lots of good reviews coming in today. Check out Homeland alum Timothee Chalamet’s silver suit. Not really my taste, but I guess when you’re 25 and rocking Cannes, this is what you can get away with.

So goddamned close…but I understand why we didn’t. That episode where Brooke analyzes herself?!!! OMG that was perfection. Still would have loved to see Dr. Paul Weston.

Will we get a cameo of Dr. Paul Weston beyond the photo and the email?

He was amazing!! His character is pretty complex. So much going on there, and he pulls it all off in such an effortless fashion.

As far as the DeMarcos, I think he briefly allowed some insight into his complicated feelings. He says he is completely reliant upon them for financial survival, yet he also says he could make more money working elsewhere. That’s true. But he seems to place a high level of importance on what the DeMarcos think of him. He knows they aren’t his family, but they’re literally all the “family” he has right now. If he had to delve into the dynamics and unhealthiness of his relationship with that family...it would blow everything up.

I mean...he asks a woman, a stranger he has only met virtually, if she’s going to take care of him...if she’ll basically be like a mother to him? t breaks my heart.

But he’s also good at manipulating and getting people to do things for him. Dr. Taylor answered her phone during off hours. A friend he doesn’t even connect with much anymore gave him her lithium.

So much to “unpack” here...

I have so many thoughts about the In Treatment episode so spoiler alert

• Can we talk about how Ant completely and utterly gave his ALL in 18:25 and onward? Holy shit. I don’t think i’ve ever seen him so raw and emotional. That entire monologue felt so real and genuine I swear everything he was saying made so much sense. It’s clear he put so much work into making those lines be delivered perfectly. Emmy incoming for SURE.

• One thing i noticed about Eladio is that he deferrs talking about the deMarcos and defends all their highly questionable actions? I truly wonder what hold they have on him for him to not feel comfortable speaking the truth about them. I feel like there’s something going on between the parents and El that we don’t know yet.

• He also mentions that he doesn’t wanna talk about his Mom, or conversations about her make him emotional, but keeps being the one to bring it up? Idk. I just find it interesting that talking about her and her neglect for him is a better escape than talking about Jeremy.

• Speaking of Jeremy, what he said about “he would be my biggest enemy if he wasn’t in a wheelchair” hit so hard. It’s a perfect representation of the heart and the dedication that Eladio truly has, and the compassion he demonstrates for someone like Jeremy. I wouldn’t say Jeremy is the root of all Eladio’s issues, but he is a big contributor. Being that empathetic and willing to stay even in those circumstances speaks a lot about who Eladio is.

• Okay let’s talk about the relationship between Brooke and El. I’m glad they touched on the Mother-Son relationship that El was desperately longing for, and I can see why he wants that with Brooke. She knows him so well and this is only week two? She knows when to listen and what not to say. The only thing that kept me intrigued was the fact that Eladio desperately wants a motherly relationship with Brooke but then also thinks she’s always out to get him in trouble. That thing where he constantly was dead set on the fact that she’s trying to get him to talk shit about the deMarcos? Weird. I didn’t see her trying to coerce him into anything. Part of me wants to say it’s his defensiveness when it comes to them, but I genuinely don’t know. I hope they touch on it in the next ep.

Anyways that episode was absolutely amazing. Anthony deserves all the flowers for this one. I think this role in particular is not only something he needed, but something he put his all into. You can really tell he knows what he’s talking about, he’s not just reciting lines. Giving me very much Emmy winner 2021 <3
