Clark keeps a shrine to all the people he couldn’t save in the fortress to remind him that he always needs to be better. His friends and family think he’s to hard on himself but Clark has to believe that one day he will be able to save everyone.

“I’m absolutely fine, I just need to sit down.”
Kal's eyes narrowed as he quickly scanned his friend, taking mental note of her injuries. "Diana." It was a firm tone that he didn't use often with his friends, unless it was needed, of course.
"This is serious, not something a simple 'sit down' will fix. We should head back to the tower and let J'onn take a look."
His tone softened and his gaze took on a pleading edge. "Please."

The Kryptonian blinked out of his daze and let his gaze fall upon the bottle. It took a moment for the command to register, but he soon took the water with a trembling hand and brought it to his lips for a slow drink.
Rao, he needed sunlight, but was far too tired to fly anywhere the sun currently reached. As a result, he'd have to wait until morning, but that was all right as long as he had Bruce by his side.
As he returned the bottle, blue eyes sought out his husband's gaze through shielded lenses. "I'm sorry, B. I'm sorry for all of this. I really am."
@kryptons-last-son from [x]
His eyes were on the firemen across the street watching them as they put out the small fires in the area. He took a pull from the water bottle tasting blood in his mouth. Shaking his head slightly Batman let out a soft sigh. At least Clark was alive and whole.
Bruised but alive.
Feeling the other man lean against him Bruce let himself relax finally. Looking over at Clark, Bruce took in the sight of the man. He could see the exhaustion that was coming off of Clark.
Holding the bottle out to him, Bruce gave Clark’s side a gentle nudged. “Drink,” he told the other man.

Okay but just like... Imagine Clark and Steve getting yelled at because they were sending each other "I love you" texts in the middle of press conferences since they were too busy to say it this morning
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
imagine that they had a fight the previous night and were called in by their respective teams in the morning, so didn’t have the opportunity to reconcile. on top of that, steve is set to leave on a mission in a couple of hours and clark won’t have the chance to see him beforehand because the justice league’s initiation ceremony is taking forever because, fuck, they have a lot of new members. frantic texting commences to try and convey all the things they didn’t get to say to each other this morning and won’t get to say for the next week.
the following day, there are pictures of captain america smiling at his crotch at the latest avengers press conference, the phone in his hand only just visible. similar pictures of superman looking down at his phone with a dopey grin emerge. entire websites are dedicated to solving the mystery of “where does superman keep his phone??” because, boy, that suit is tight and holds no secrets.

"Apokolips on Earth" [Open Starter]
Tumblr media
The treads of the massive tank shook the ground as it rumbled forward, crushing the remains of toppled buildings under its weight. Thick clouds of exhaust billowed into the air, turning the sky dark and blotting out the sun. Despite warning, the city if Metropolis had been unprepared for the attack. The alien invaders in their organized brigades decimated human forces with little trouble then took pleasure in destroying the city.
Not even their champion had been able to overcome the forces weighed against them.
Superman was displayed like a trophy upon the bow, arms and legs spread and encased within metal so he hung limp from his restraints. Beaten and bloody, the Kryptonian gazed upon the shocked crowd with a hazy comprehension. The battle with the tyrant that currently held his city in the palm of his hand had taken it’s toll. Blood seeped into his eyes and his normally vibrant uniform was dirty and torn.
“And now you shall watch, son of Krypton, as your adoptive home world is crushed beneath the heel of my boot.” A cruel smirk twisted Darkseid’s stone visage. The god of Apokolips stood upon a a higher platform on the same tank, eyes flashing in crimson flame as he looked upon his victory. “How fitting that the very city that calls you ‘hero’ will be the first to fall.”

The Black Stone had opened his eyes.
"Monster" [Open Starter]
“Y-you’ve lost your mind! You’re a-… a monster!”
“That all depends on your definition of the word, doesn’t it? Let’s explore that as I decide what to do with you.” Superman readjusted his grip on the front of man’s suit jacket as they hovered sixty stories above the busy Metropolis rush hour. “Definition one: a being, plant or animal, of abnormal form or structure. I look like one of you, so that’s a strike against you.” His grip loosened a fraction and the blonde businessman shifted in the only thing keeping him from falling.
“Two: one who deviates from normal character or behavior. That’s one in your favor. “As a result, his grip tightened again, reasserting the man’s fight against gravity. The cruel smirk he wore twisted into a disgusted sneer. “Its ‘normal’ for you people to hurt one another, you -accept- the selfish and praise the vain! A girl defending herself is sentenced to life in prison while a rapist goes free after months. I don’t -want- to be part of the ‘normal’ or ‘accepted.’”
Having lost his voice, the man simply trembled as he gripped the Kryptonian’s wrist. Kal took a calming breath, but the intensity in his gaze never wavered. “Three: a threatening force. An obvious answer.” As a reporter, he knew language, and now he had twisted it for the use if his trial. “Four: a person of unnatural or extreme ugliness, deformity, wickedness, or cruelty. I’ve been very kind to you humans, so that’s another in my favor.” The grip loosened again, causing the man to scramble and claw at the Man of Steel’s wrist. “It seems we’re tied. But.” The word was emphasized with a flex of his wrist. “You have stolen from those less fortunate, taken food from the mouths of children, all to justify your greed.
You haven’t murdered, or taken away the choice of others, but-” Blue eyes began to glow red. “All sin is equal in the eyes of God.”
In seconds, it was over and Kal dropped the limp body to the street below, the screams of the man’s former coworkers echoing from a broken window.
Kal eyed the blood on his hand with distaste and took hold of his crimson cape flowing in the breeze. Once his skin was deemed clean enough, he ripped the cloth from his shoulders and let it flutter to the ground, discarded like a used handkerchief. “This is just the beginning.”

( LEAN ) leaning against mine’s side.
It had been a long time since Clark had felt such a deep -ache- in his body. The whole resurrection process, as well as the following battle, had left him feeling as if he had gone a few rounds with Darkseid himself. But... he was alive and thrilled at the feeling of air filling his lungs.
It was night above some Midwestern city he didn't remember the name of and the dust had just begun to settle. Officials had arrived for the cleanup, so Kal had taken to one of the rooftops high above to regain his bearings, legs dangling as he sat on the ledge. To his recently revived senses, the sounds, smells, lights of the world were almost overwhelming, but Bruce's presence at his side was grounding. He could focus on -his- world: the beat of Bruce's heart, the steady pace of his breathing, the warmth of his body through the kevlar suit.
The Kryptonian sighed in relief and leaned into the other in return, gratefully accepting the affection that rarely came while on duty. Later, Clark would have to thank Diana for the moment of privacy.

TALES FROM THE DARK MULTIVERSE: THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN
In a broken world much like our own, Lois Lane, twisted by rage and grief over the Man of Steel’s death, becomes the Eradicator, taking revenge on those who let Superman die and the corrupt world he could never defeat. Now, with the power of a god, she’s going to end the “never-ending” battle by any means necessary, halting the Reign of the Supermen before it even begins.
You were everything to them — the last hope of a dying star — and we wasted it. We never deserved their hope. […] You loved us….You loved us so much. And we never even tried to be better.
Tales from the Dark Multiverse: The Death of Superman #1, by Jeff Loveness and Andrew Hennessy, arrives in stores on October 30 with a cover by Lee Weeks.

Batman: I have 800 costumes because I must be prepared for any eventuality
Wonder Woman: I have 1200 costumes because I’m 6,000 years old, I like a little variety, it’s important to dress for diplomacy, and Hephaestus doesn’t get much commission from anywhere else these days
Superman: I have one costume because my moms made it. No I will not get a new one and fuck you for suggesting it

"It's a date." Turning, his arm brushed against Steve's chest. He -enjoyed- that blush and it tempted Clark to push this further.
Steve was a very good looking man and Clark had heard of his bravery. It didn't matter that he was not human, Clark was a man and wanted companionship just like anyone else.
"Lead the way."
kryptons-last-son‌:
Tilting his head, the journalist lofted a brow. When Steve stepped closer, Clark remained in place and the smile morphed into something a little more mischievous. “Nothing’s -wrong-. I was just thinking, I’m a little old fashioned and where I come from, dinner is a necessity for two people to get to know each other better.”
Steve regarded the journalist with a fond smile and watched as he gave him a mischievous look, prompting Steve to blush. “Well then…” He grinned as he looked up into Clark’s eyes.
“Do yo wanna go on a date? I know a great place east side…”

The first two compliments were awkward enough to make Clark smile. He knew such things were often hard for his friend to say, but if it brought Bruce this much discomfort, they were obviously true. "Thank you, Br-"
But that last line absolutely took his breath away. The Kryptonian stopped mid sentence and blinked, a faint blush beginning to color his cheeks. "Bruce... I..."

“I mean…” Bruce cleared his throat and did his best to stare past Clark and not at him. “You have nice hair. A nice face.”

“And eyes I want to get lost in.”

Oh Clark certainly noticed -that-. His gaze drifted down to the other’s lips before snapping back up to his eyes. Knowing he hadn’t been subtle, he cleared his throat awkwardly.
Steve licked his lips. He smirked knowingly, loving the way he made the Krytonian react. “Something wrong, handsome?” He asked as he closed the distance between them.

The blush returned with vengeance. He blinked twice, but a small smile tugged at his lips. “I’m flattered. You’re not too bad, yourself.”
Steve blushed. He sucked in a breath, licking his lips as he saw Clark smile. “Thanks…”
