Formerly a fan blog for Failbetter Games. I'm in the process of converting it into an art gallery page for myself. Which is a long way of saying - Hi! I go by the handle Kindelwyrm and my pronouns are she/her/they, if you feel the need to address or talk about me. I'll answer to almost anything if you're talking to me.

I don’t know if I’ve ever shared these as art before, but I paint nesting dolls as a series! I’m from the state of Indiana in the USA, and I’ve been focusing on birds native to the area. This one is the Blue Birds and Red Birds theme. These are Blue Jay (back left), Northern Cardinal (back right), Eastern Bluebird (front left), Indigo Bunting (front middle), and Rufous Hummingbird (front right). If you haven’t seen pictures of them before, please check them out. They’re amazing. :3

Some old dragon doodles (interesting to see how my sketches have improved so much since then) with contour lines and design stuff.

Working on both creature design and character design here. I might make her mane less, err, poofy. Decided I could probably just keep the tentacle wings, lengthened the tail, reduced the number of digits. Trying to decide if I want to remove the tine coming from the hips.

Book bat! For the “Busting Bat Myths” art contest at the local Indiana Bat Festival. :) This guy is a big brown bat, which is a common species around here. Except he’s been ah, a little stylized. Bats are not in fact blind! But many species of microbats, such as this fellow, don’t really rely on eye sight. They instead rely on their echolocation, essentially screaming into the surrounding area then navigating based on echoes. There are also species that use a sense of smell to hunt, such as the spectral bat, which are a bit like flying wolves. Many fruit bats, while also having a great sense of smell, have much larger eyes. :) Giving them the “flappy puppy” look.

Turned my koi design I hope to use for a tattoo into a cute picture. :) I’m selling this guy on Redbubble! She’s my best so far.

Spacebats will return! …Sorta. I’ve been planning for a while to reuse the design I used for the Curators, with some alterations - which I’m still debating what I want to alter, exactly. I know I want to have them look more draconic, and probably a bit more wolfy. They probably will be bipedal, unlike the top sketch, and I’d like to possibly pull back in some other inspirations I’ve had outside of FBG’s work.

Realized I never saved this one to my tumblr, either, being mostly on Twitter. This is the Greenheart Shrine - a shrine to a bestial guardian of a town in a project I’ve been working on. I’m planning to revisit this one and do a more “cinematic” approach, as well as fixing some lighting, composition, and perspective issues.

Tumblr and Names...
So apparently Tumblr won’t let you swap which blog is your dominant one. I don’t feel like taking down everything here, as I worked very hard on it! I will be reblogging stuff to this one and shuffling things around until this is my main blog. Please bear with me.
