All my life my parents always provide my needs. To our tuition fees, our bills and our basic needs. And I will always be grateful to them. There are times that I get shy for asking something. But then after I asked for it, they said you must learn how to save money and buy things that are necessary. They also said that you must work hard if you want to achieve something. That’s why I’ve learned to save money in order to buy myself a new phone.
For me, it was very satisfying that you could buy something from your hardwork in saving money. I also thank my parents because they allowed me to used the money I saved for buying a new phone.
Cellphones and other electronic gadgets are essential in today’s generation. Because as the time passes, the evolution of things became faster and more difficult to comprehend. I’ve considered to buy myself a new model of iphone when it comes out of the market. But when I grow up. I’ll finish my studies first and get myself a stable job. After that, I’m going to buy all the things that I want, to travel places that I’ve never been before, and to buy the new model of iphone if there’s any.
In order for my sense of self to be intact, I will be wise at all times and I will consider all the things, options, chances, and opportunities that will come in my life. As the times passes by, the consumption gets higher because things gets more expensive. I will buy thing that are only necessary and I will save money consistently for the sake of my family’s future and for me.

New Rules
In any institution, there will always be rules that should be followed and observed. Let’s have an example, rules on schools. Some people may see it as useless and may not help the students to become a better person but for me, I think it is beneficial to us. It is necessary to make rules in schools in order to develop and to mold the students into a better person.
When I was in Junior High School, we had a certain rule that students should not bring cellphones or other electronic gadgets inside the campus. According to my teachers, they prohibited bringing of electronic gadgets because they wanted the students to be focused on their studies. Playing gadgets will just keep you distracted in doing the activities. In addition, they told us that living simply is part of our vision-mission. Some may not agree on this rule, but for me it was quite helpful.
Before, my philosophy in life was to always give your best in all the things that you do. Because if you always give your best, you will become successful and there will be no room for regrets. Well, my philosophy was inspired from my mother. Because not only she does her very best at work but also doesn’t settle for any less when it come us.
As days passed each and every day, I get to learn and to discover something new. I’ve also learned many things from the people I’ve met and encountered. Now, I my perception of things changed.Life is unpredictable, and full of uncertainty. There are times that I want to give up on becoming a registered nurse, because my subjects are difficult and I’m just in my first year. There are also times that I think my best wasn’t good enough. I’m also worried that i may not make it. But then, I realized that if I give up on my dreams, the percentage of me achieving that dream will be 0%. And if I don’t give up, my chances on being successful will never turn to 0%. Each and every day, my faith in God grows deeper. When I pray, I think God helps me to remove my worries. I became grateful for the blessings he’s given me and my family. I’ve also learned to control my stress level out of small problems and to not overthink because I don’t want to stress myself more so I just enjoy my life and take one step at a time by doing good and exciting things with my family and friends. Life is too short, so make the most out of your lives. Here’s my new set of rules in life. What’s yours? :D

Having dreams and ambitions in life has the intention to properly guide us in our everyday lives. For us to achieve our goals, we should be coupled with action and strength of character.
I once dreamed to be a doctor. Like a typical kid who wanted to become a doctor, I wanted to cure people’s illnesses. Because even before, I like helping others in anyway I can. I also love playing doctor at home and my cousins will be my patients. Plus, in my grade school, my favorite subject was Science. I always get awards for best in Science. Also, I love studying the parts of the human body and how it must be taken care of. Before, I already knew that a doctor has the most difficult job because you’re every move must be precise for there’s a life that depends on your hands.
My childhood dream was greatly influenced by my cousin who took up nursing in college. I’ve watched her before taking the blood pressure and doing a blood glucose test to my mom. She’s doing that to help my mom in maintaining a healthy diet. Now, she became a competent and a well-experienced doctor. She’ll always be my forever idol and one of my inspirations in giving my best in everything I do.
When I entered Grade 11, I chose to be in the HUMSS strand instead of the STEM strand. My parents chose that strand for me, even though my decision was still in the middle. But when I knew about the benefits of taking up Law for college, I learned to love it. But a part of me still wanted to take up Stem-biology because it’s my dream to become a doctor. Even though I chose the path on becoming a lawyer, my heart will always belong to the course of Medicine.

MY SUPERHEROES
Superheroes are people known to have superpowers or abilities that a normal people doesn’t have. They use these powers to do good things and to protect the people from villains. What makes a superhero? Do we need superpowers in order to be called superheroes?
They don’t have superpowers but they have the power to love us unconditionally, to provide us our needs, and to protect our family from harm with the best of their abilities. These people are the ones who taught us the most about life, who comforts us when we have problems, who laughs with us during our good times and who will be there for us no matter what happens. Do you know who are my superheroes? My superheroes are my mom and dad.
Mom and dad have done many sacrifices for us. From my oldest brother, me, up to the youngest one, and until now they’re sacrificing everything in order for us to have a better future. Everything came from them. Without them, we won’t be here today. They’re our first teachers who taught us the basic steps in life. They taught us how to stand, talk, eat and drink. Now, even in our home works, they’re still there to help us in doing it and acts as our tutor whenever we have exams. Also they’re the ones handling our financial needs and other needs. Imagining what they been through was tiring. But even though their responsibilities were tiring, they still didn’t give up on us.To be quite honest, I think they may be even greater than superheroes.
((( I want to thank them for supporting me in my academics and letting me go to my dream school which is DLSU-D. I also want to thank them for all the lessons they taught for me to become a better person. I love you mom and dad!!! )))
I’m so lucky to have such parents. And they’ll be always my favorite superheroes.

DARK SIDE
There are probably many things that I'm afraid of. But the thing that I feared the most was being alone. Not physiologically, but the thought of being alone scares me. Because I've experienced it once. But that experience have taught me a lot of lessons. When I was in my 8th grade, I'm always excited in going to school. But when one of my classmates spread an issue with unknown reason, I became furious and told my teachers about this. Then, my classmate shifted the blame on me and told everybody things that were not true. That person is beautiful, influential and famous. And I'm just an ordinary student so I can't do anything about it. Plus, the system in my school is bias. After that incident, all my classmates started avoiding me. It's my scariest experience in my school life. No one believed in me. Then, I've started eating, studying and playing alone. It's so frustrating that I can't do anything about it because it's not my place to tell them what to think or to feel towards me. I felt so lost and not myself anymore. But I also learned many things while I’m alone and ignored all the gossips. I’ve survived the school year being alone without any help from anybody. I’m fine being alone, but I would be happier if I have my friends with me. All of us has a dark past, and it’s up to us whether we share it or keep it. What’s important is to be good and do good at all times even if life’s challenging you. Treat your dark past as if it’s a lesson and from that, it will help you grow into a better person. And that dark side will start to get brighter like the light of hope that will illuminate our tomorrow.

“WHAT HEAVEN LOOKS LIKE”
Nowadays, many people are traveling to many countries. Everyone has their reasons why they are going there. It could be that they need to provide their families financial support, or they just love to work abroad. It could also be that they want relax in a place that’s somewhere peaceful, or just want to travel the world for leisure.
If I would be given a chance to visit a place, it would rather be in Paris, France, where the Eiffel Tower was located. Paris was also called the ‘’City of Love”, wherein the tower was most visited by couples. Many couples desperately wanted to go to Paris because of its well-known romantic walks. French is the language of love, so most couples enjoy in hearing such language.
The Eiffel Tower was one of the famous structures in the world. I want to go to the top of the tower and enjoy the beautiful sceneries from above. I want to feel the breeze of the air from a high point and also to shout out everything that I’ve kept in my mind and heart for so long. There’s so many things on my to do list that I want to do, but I want to do it by myself.
When I grow up and become financially stable, I would travel to Paris by myself. I want to travel by myself because I want to enjoy my life and not rush things around. I’ve want some good quality time with myself without thinking anything but this heavenly place. I wish to eat a lot of French dishes, and to walk around the city. I also wish to take photos as many as I can and to meet new friends. Then, I’ll treat myself at a luxurious hotel and order all the foods that I want. Lastly, I want to watch and to enjoy the beauty of the Eiffel Tower from dusk till dawn.
I want to enjoy my life as much as possible, so I want to do the things that I really want. And visiting Paris, France is one of them. I will study and work hard in order to do that in the future. I will succeed for that matter, and experience what heaven looks like.

“Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear and how to be free from it.”
All of us are afraid of something. We might not yet discovered it or some will just run away from it. Fear is and will always be part of our lives. We do not only feel joy, sadness, disgust, and anger, but we also feel fear. According to Google, fear is a chain reaction in the brain that starts with a stressful stimulus and ends with the release of chemicals that causes heart racing, and fast breathing.
“Becoming fearless isn’t the point. That’s impossible. It’s learning how to control your fear and how to be free from it.” I got this line from the movie Divergent and from the character named Four. It’s true that becoming fearless is impossible because fear will be always there. It also plays in an important role in our daily lives.
When we experience fear, our hearts beat so fast, and we also release cold sweat. Our mind can’t think straight because there’s so many thoughts running in our heads. There’s so many negative things about fear but there were also positive ones. They said that fear serves no purpose which isn’t true. There’s nothing wrong in feeling fear. After all, how can we know our own weaknesses if we don’t feel fear.
We feel fear when we try to come out of our comfort zones, and we tend to be hesitant on trying out new things. Checking out new things in our list will help us grow as a person. We have to set aside our fear, in order to know if we are capable of doing a certain thing with a good result. We have to overcome our fears in order not to miss out any good opportunities along our journey in life.
Fear is not our enemy. Actually, it is our friend. It will lead us to the right path, where it will help as grow as a person in all aspects in life. We must take control of the situation when we feel fear and we must find a way to make it less frightening. Just think that God will always be here for us, to respond in our prayers and will guide us throughout our journey. Take a leap of faith and don’t be afraid because God will be always there for us no matter what happens.

1) The first part of the documentary was about the Maritime Entitlement Dispute between two countries, Philippines and China.
The second part of the documentary was about the history of Pag-asa Island, the richness of our aquatic resources and fisheries, and how Filipinos stand firm to the ground and fight for what is right and our rights.
The last part of the documentary showed how Filipinos fight for what is right, and our rights through peaceful negotiations. The Philippines also filed an arbitration case against China’s invalid argument.
2) I feel proud and angry at the same time while watching the documentary. I feel proud because our country settled the argument in a peaceful way and stand firm against China. I can feel my blood boiling as I watch the documentary, because China’s argument makes no sense. They’re just claiming our territory and making a nine-dash line with no coordinates. Plus, there is no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resource within the nine-dash line.
3) The former president, Noynoy, initiated the filing of case at the Permanent Court of Arbitration to debunk China’s claims on some parts of South China Sea. He did what matters most and protected our land from an atrocious neighbor.
4) Yes. Because we value peace and we value the lives of our people. It is only the part of the Philippines that is contested. Why risk the lives of our people, when we can share our natural resources.

“Listen through you heart”
This photo was taken last semester at De La Salle University-Dasmarinas. I chose this photo because this day was a special day for me. We used this photo as our subject for our infographics in Oral Communication 101.
I felt embarrassed while doing the photoshoot because there’s so many people passing by. As I stand in the middle of the crowd, I bowed down my head and listened to different sounds created by the people, the animals, and the nature itself. I can hear the conversations of other people, also the singing of the birds and the wind that kisses all the plants and trees, I can hear them all.
The quieter you become, the more you can hear (Ram Dass). This photoshoot made me realize about a lot things. Students in our section were rowdy in a good-natured way, but when I kept quiet, I’ve realized that we are creating such irritating noise, especially when we’re all talking. It also made me understand what our teachers are teaching us. Then, me and my friends went to the library during our break. I kept quiet while observing my fellow students. I can hear students, sharing and laughing at each other’s stories, studying their lessons, and practicing their lines for a play.
Being silent for a day isn’t so bad after all. It will make you reflect on what you’re doing and what you must be doing. And sometimes being silent will help you hear what other people truly think or feel. Even though we use our ears for hearing, it’s also accompanied with our heart. Listening through our hearts that we can hear other people’s inner feelings without them telling us.
Instead of using the other 3 senses, I still chose the sense of hearing because I want to hear more stories from my friends. I want them to know that I’m here for them and they can trust me. I may not be able to give them the most helpful advises but I’’ll be willing to listen to them. I believe that it’s better to hear out other people’s problems than giving them advises, because giving advises will just confuse and mislead them in decision making. Just hear them out, it may not fully solve their problems but at least they release all the worries out of their system.
The sense of hearing is as important as the 4 senses, but the most important thing in life can only be perceived by the heart.

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL
They said that high school life is the best thing that happens in a person’s school life. But, on my part, it’s just the opposite. I think my junior high school experience was yet to be the worst thing that happened to me.
As I’ve remembered, there were more unpleasant things that I’ve encountered than the pleasant ones. But I overcome it, so I’m just thankful.
Grade 7 students were more likely the ones who were always excited in going to school and so am I. I wanted to go to school early, to play with my friends, and to do school works with them. I just love going to school, because I really love studying. I didn’t expect to get an academic excellence award, because I studied as hard as I can. There were no expectations going to my head before until 8th Grade. (7F)
On my 8th grade, many unexpected events happened. The year 2013-2014 taught me a lot of things about reality. It’s the first time I’ve experience betrayal from my so-called friends and teachers. My Science teacher did something that degraded my whole being. Then my friends just used me for their advantage. They also spread out an issue which was not true. I became an honor student, so it made me want to maintain it. I don’t want to be involved in their businesses. But that issue made a huge impact on me. My other friends avoided me and for that whole year, I’m all alone. That time, I study and eat all by myself. But I didn’t give up, and I studied so hard in order to get on top. I’m so happy when I reached my goal, but I felt somehow sad because I have no friends to share my success with. For that matter, it’s my most painful experience as of today. (Eytsiii)
On my 9th grade, I’m became a part of the star section. My 9th grade was special because I met new set of friends who made me feel I’m loved. We had tons of adventures inside and outside the school. We motivated each other in doing all our school works with the stress sinking in. I’m a pessimist but when I’m with them, I’m above all the odds. We watched good movies together and hung out to many places. Plus, our section was the most solid section ever. (I <3 U 9NIANS)
On my 10th grade, I became the president in my class. There’s always so much to do and they multiply. It’s my most challenging year because I had a hard time focusing on my studies, that’s why ended up barely getting an outstanding award. There were things that held me down, but I pulled through so I’m thankful and blessed that I’ve graduated from junior high. (10F)
So on my senior year, I want to make my life meaningful by giving my best at school and pursue all the things that I really want. Along the way, I found these four, amazing human beings that helped me to have a new perspective in life that I didn’t know or discover yet. Now, I’m just happy to be with them and hopefully we’ll have tons of amazing experiences along the way. (I <3 U SOC11)

1) Philippines was endowed with beautiful sceneries and natural resources that we can be proud of. Philippines was composed with 7,107 islands and 2,000 of them were from Palawan. But the two stories in the documentary entitled “Pilipinas for Sale” were all about the exploitation of land masses and aquatic resources and fisheries in the Philippines.
On the other documentary, a news reporter named Jay Taruc had his most extraordinary experience in his life. He made a documentary inside a prison cell in the Philippines and asked different people in his cell about their experiences and feeling inside the prison.
2) For me, Economics and Political Science are the disciplines under social sciences that can expound or resolve the issue mentioned above.
3) Economics- It will help us study on how a particular society solve its problem of scarcity of resources. Understanding economics will help us develop policies in order to minimize problems and maximize the benefits if everyday work.
Political Science- It will help us enforce laws on protecting our environment and our natural resources. It will help us resolve problems effectively, by having a deep understanding on the complexities of the human behavior and relations.

Paramore - Last Hope
(Click the play button for BG music) ENJOY! :D
All of us encounter joy, happiness, etc. But we also experience hardships, problems and struggles. According to Sciences, our brain will always make us remember most of our bad experiences instead of our good ones. We must know how to carry our problems like there’s none. And this song by Paramore taught me how to do that.
As of this week, my favorite song is Last Hope by Paramore. Well, it’s actually my most played song in my playlist.
This week has been rough for me. I’ve encountered circumstances that I didn’t expect. Like a landslide of assignments, quizzes and other school works. Then, there were also unexpected circumstances at home. I began to overthink over and over again about these problems and how can I solve this mess in my mind.
And what’s bothering me the most was on how can I stay positive and tough resolving these problems. It’s difficult for me because I’m really a pessimistic and an emotionally weak person. I felt like my purpose is gone, until this situation happened.
Last Wednesday night, I lay on bed to calm my whole self. As I check my phone, I found this song. It’s been a while since I played this song, so when I heard the song, I became calm and collected. Then, I started to do all things I need to do one at a time. Also the situation at home became a little bit good, I guess.
There’s a lot more in life than our sufferings and the challenges that we’re facing. We should look for the positive, and stay strong. Have faith and hope, even though life has knocked you down. But as long as you have that light in your heart, you’ll have a purpose to keep moving and to look forward for a brighter tomorrow.
