how to be a functional witch:
- remember magic and science can coexist , donât blow off a doctorâs appointment for a healing spell.
- donât act higher and mightier than non-witch freinds
- donât like drink water thatâs been sitting there a while (sun water, moon water, rainwater, etc) without boiling it first to rid diseases. donât drink lake, pond, or sea water at all.
- respect others in their chosen paths. yes, even that one.
- please be kind to the environment. when leaving offerings, try not to leave things that will take a long time to degrade. donât use plastic bags, jars, glitter, etc.. sheâll be hurt.
- factcheck. factcheck. factcheck! Iâve heard stories about lotions and tea made with highly acidic or heck even poisonous tea.
- you come first. if you donât have the energy to do ritual, donât do it! donât neglect necessary things in favour of witchinâ. drink water, get sun, eat fruit, sleep, shower.
- try to practice little magic wherever you can. say soft incantations on the way to school, meditate on the bus, add herbs or to your tea to make spells or rituals in a cup, draw sigils on the backs of your hands.
- PLSâŠ..donât burn things while you sleepâŠ.candles, incenseâŠ.donât do it.

Bedridden witch: Ocean edition
For the bedridden witches who hear the call of the seas.Â
Burn sea/beach scented candles.
Listen to background sounds like waves or the wind.
Make macrame strands that have glass beads or sea glass in them.
SEA. SALT. Just keep a jar of sea salt around for any of your needs and to feel connected!
Make a simple salt water spray to cleanse your space.Â
Create an altar/shelf dedicated to the sea.
Keep beach and ocean themed pictures, paintings and postcards around your room.Â
Make a sand garden.
Hold a glass of water on your hands, and focus on how the water is/has been connected to the ocean.
Create a sideblog for all your ocean needs. Can double as an altar!
Keep a collection of sea shells and invest in a shell field guide!
Watch ocean documentaries.
Keep crystals like opal, quartz, selenite, blue calcite, ocean jasper, and labradorite around.
Create a bottle filled with things that remind you of the ocean. Hereâs mine.
Write/read poetry about the sea.
I really like using ocean waves as a way to clear my mind when I need to calm down/start meditating. Use meditation to connect to the ocean!
Hang flowing curtains from the ceiling - light turquoise and white.
Learn about the lore and mythology related around the ocean.Â
Whisper sweet nothing towards the sea - it doesnât matter how far away it is!
The moon phases directly interact with the ocean. Keep track of them!
Draw sigils designed to connect you to the ocean.Â
Get a little fish tank (only if this feels manageable to you of course!) and keep it in your room.
Do seashell divination
Decorate with beach/seaside decor - rustic wood, shells, blown glass, etc.
Connect with any deities of the ocean/sea (for me that includes Amphitrite, Poseidon and Ceto).
Make/wear seashell or pearl jewelry.
Listen to music that makes you feel like youâre standing in front of the ocean.
When itâs windy or downpour rain, allow it to take you to the sea. Feel the raw energy. Open the window a crack if you can!
This is a great resource for some sea witching ideas!

HekĂĄte, we come before You with wounded hearts and troubled spirits. We ask for Your divine comfort and we ask for only the peace You can give. Heal our emotional wounds, grant us the strength to forgive ourselves, and fill our hearts with love and joy. May we find solace in Your presence and guidance. We call Your name, we humbly ask, we devote ourselves to You!
As we say it, so it is.

the gods understand your disabilities, mental health, and neurodiversities.
they understand if your physical disabilities, mental or physical, prevent you from being able to go outside.
they understand you even when you cannot articulate what you mean during prayer or cannot find the words to express gratitude and love.
they understand if you can't spend much time or stand still at their altars.
they understand if executive dysfunction keeps you from making offerings or doing a lot of active practice.
they understand if you have to take breaks and hiatuses from practicing to focus on yourself and your mental or physical health.
they understand if you lose focus during meditation/trance work or cannot do it to begin with.
they understand you and are with you when you cannot get out of bed for mental or physical reasons.
they understand you and are with you during times when you cannot care for yourself or love yourself.
the gods will always understand, love, and accept us for who we are. we are all valid, and we are seen and heard by the gods, even when it feels as if we are alone. đ

Prayer to Dionysos
Dionysos, Savior, Liberator, hear my prayers
Help me to release all that which weighs me down
May I be able to move beyond my restrictions and live my life for joy
Bring mirth and contentment into my heart to ward off all my sorrows
Lord of Celebration, who shows us all the bliss in carefree festivities
Aid me in bringing these principles into all areas of my life
Teach me to be selfish when I need to, and generous when I can
Teach me moderation, but grant me also times of revelry
Dionysos, Ivy-crowned God of Wine, bless me with your wisdom
Guide me, fulfill my prayers, and allow me to live my life for me
(Art by Ciro Ferri)
