Shelter dogs are awesome if you let them decompress. This process takes a while. We didn’t have any idea how long this process took until we adopted Bo. Some dogs may take a few months to adjust. Good morning! #happythursday 🙂 As you may have noticed, Bo and I have missed walking the last few weeks. Between having an upper respiratory infection...twice...and struggling with, the less than stellar, weather and mental health issues, we haven't been able to get out and walk. To be honest, I didn't have the strength to put on my shoes some mornings. 🥿👞👟 Anyway, today was the first day I felt awake enough to take a short walk. Let's keep it between us😉...I didn't tell Bo because he was sleeping and I really only wanted a quick walk. I need to get my strength back a bit more before taking him with me. Today's walk was perfect timing for the dawn. I was even able to play with #pixaloop again. 🙂 I really enjoy the ease of animating my pictures. Sorry, this is a bit long so here is the point...Don't give up on your goals. If you stumble or meet obstacles, remember that as long as you get up and start again, you will never be a failure. Previously, I focused all my photos and thoughts on the sunrise, the colors of it and the marvel of a new day. Now, it seems I'm looking more and more at the sky in general: the color of the clouds, shape, and the reflection of the sun off of them. I'm also noticing changes in my thoughts and which music makes me feel more at peace about my losses. When dad and Grandma first died I listen to a song by Dani and Lizzy called Dancing in the Sky. Now, I find Ed Sheeran's Supermarket Flowers to make me feel peaceful. It seems as though the process of grief is finally letting me find peace. . Grief is a process that is never really over. We just learn to live with the loss and understand that we will be reunited. . Since we have been walking in the predawn hours this week, we haven't seen a great sunrise. TBH, the sunrises have been less beautiful and more hazy these days. First ever blooms!!❤️💜😊😮❤️💜🙏 If you have ever read my blog posts, you may remember my post about the poor Rose of Sharon start my grandma had given me 3 years ago. If not...you can check out my blog like in my IG Profile for a link. 🖇️ Anyhoo, my procrastination left the start for dead until Warren found it and planted it. After grandma passed away, I prayed that I had not killed it. I was thrilled when it began to show signs of life. I was overjoyed when it grew over the last 3 years. When I found these blooms, I cried. Not for sadness, but because I had been waiting so long for the bush to bloom and it felt like a last gift from grandma. I felt my lingering grief lift. I feel surrounded by the love only a grandma could give. 🥰💞 Grief is never a straight line and often we double back in case we missed some anger or sadness. It is okay to grieve. It is okay to continue to grieve. Just remember to watch for the signs and signals our loved ones send to let us know we are never truly without them. They will always be with us. The sunrise was another awesome one this morning. We have been busy cleaning our house and learning our new normal. We spent so much time hiding and mourning our losses that we let so many things fall apart. Today is the first new day that hope has filled out hearts and home. We are on a journey to renew our lives and follow the paths God has set in front of us. Whether you are still deep in your mental health struggles or nearing the light at the end of the tunnel, remember you are never alone. You are allowed to feel sadness and pain. People (I was people) spend some much time thinking they need to be part of a couple or with other people. Sometimes, you just need time for yourself to reflect on your goals, your dreams, and to challenge yourself above and beyond. Often, you need to do this soul searching alone. Don't be afraid to say I need a minute; I need an hour; I need to take a walk by myself; I need to take a bath without someone beating on the door. Don't be afraid to ask for what you need. People are not mind readers. They don't know what we need or what we want. Communication is the only way to get to a place of comfort and true understanding. However, you can't be part of a couple, if you don't know who you are as a single person. ❤️ I have been lucky enough to find a soul mate that pushes me to continue to grow as a person with my own opinions. Although, we didn't find each other until I accepted myself...faults and all. Thankfully, he accepts me and my faults for exactly who I am. Don't settle.
