I cannot see it any other way, I fully agree.

Torso was extremely isolated, but he was curious. I believe he was out walking along the edges of the woods, close to the road, which more than likely went against his father's wishes. She has to tell him that the concrete road is safe to walk on. She genuinely likes him, despite how weird he is. She probably wanted him to feel normal. Wanted him to have a friend. Maybe she could sense that his father was the one keeping him from the rest of society, keeping him isolated. She was a teather to humanity that the boy needed, that could have drastically shaped the relationship between at least one human and ghoul. He genuinely cared, genuinely wanted to learn more, and wanted her to be /safe/. It's implied in the story that she's being sexually abused at home, something Torso takes note of - she's being hurt by someone she knows. Maybe in similar way Karao himself..

He probably didn't even understand what love really was or that he was starting to feel it.

His father didn't have any humanity, not because he was a ghoul, but because he's an abusive man. A predator. We see many ghouls who eat just to survive. Many who barely do. The main focus on the story is on ghoul organizations and gangs, but there's clearly many more who just live ad regular citizens.

A man who lives in the woods and isolates his son, who doesn't doesn't a birth certificate, or an education, completely aware from society while continuously bringing home body's to cannibalize is something you'd hear on the news and be horrified by, even without the ghoul aspect, his father is written like a serial killer we'd have in real life. He probably raped more than just Torso's friend, more than likely many of his victims. Maybe even Torso himself. Inflict fear and pain and keep him isolated - once he finds kindness, pleasure, and more than the woods it's seen as a threat to his father.

Torso's entire story could be told without the ghouls and it would still be a horrific tale of an abuse cycle of a serial killer father, and his son who eventually follows in his footsteps.

i always interpreted torso's father killing and eating torso's childhood friend, minomi, as a metaphor for him raping and killing her to teach his son a lesson. i feel like the metaphor is very obvious but have never seen anybody else talk about it. i'm wondering if i'm completely off base here? i'd like to hear what others think.

i'm curious about if anyone else interpreted it this way ever, so let me know. this is literally how i've always interpreted it, since i read that chapter. not that i necessarily need others to validate how i read it, but i just was curious about discussion this could spawn.

Do you guys think that In Juuzous apartment he has a cage set up, or even just his closet set up in way that he can sleep in it?

Do you think after his whole life being kept in some kind of decorated cell as a pet for a Ghoul, who violated him and kept him in a cycle of violence, that he must find comfort in small spaces and cages in order to sleep. Everything else is to unfamiliar.

Do you think have a normal apartment scares him. He can't stay in the past but healing completely and leaving comfort behind, even if he knows that comfort is vile and poisonous. He needs a familar comfort that nobody else will understand...

Do you think he ever wonders about who his parents were. Who he came from. What life he was supposed to have. What happened to them? Did they give him away? Sell him? Where they murdered and he was taken? He doesn't remember them. What they look like. What they sound like. Or even if they existed at all. He can't remember before 5 or 6.

I hope it makes sense, there's lot for trauma talk that I'll try to tag accordingly.

Somethings are kinda... confusing i guess, but being Plural is confusing. And Juuzou has complex trauma

HOST: Juuzou. Memory holder but missing largest chunks of time, and the make severe abuse is blacked out. He's aware of most of what had happened to him, but much of it is still inaccessible. Locked away by "Scrapper", as it would be too much for him. His birthday poems shows he doesn't like violence, but he's thrust into constantly and unable to escape it. The mrow violent of memories are locked away. He spent alot of time with "Papa" (Big Madam when she was being kind and sweet to him. Allowed him to be a boy. I have a headcanon that he separates Big madams personalities to help cope between her loving him and abusing him. Between Papa and Mama. He doesnt explain this to others however). He self harms mostly as a stim, enjoys the scars and it's controlled violence. He doesn't feel pain so he focuses more on how it feels without the pain. Never deep enough to need medical care. It started to be a release of stress mainly after Shinohara was comatose. Took on some scrapper events, backing in and out often.

Sexual Alter: Rei. Rei is hyper sexual. Loves mama and would do anything to return to her. Rei plays the part of a girl, but doesn't truly believe it. Saying so would cause a melt down however, because Rei is mama's special girl. Rei mainly speaks in third person. Has more violent sexual trauma memories, as well as all the disturbing things done to them through trafficking. Some memories of being castrated. Juts before and the beginning before backing out. Overly flirty in am uncomfortable way, would mastirbate to any footage found of their abuse that is circulating around, and often reminices on those memories as of they were good thing to happen. Spent the most time with Mama and experienced more of the sexual abuse from Big Madam. Is not allowed to front, and if they do, it's not for long. Quickly being realed back in.

Gate Keeper: "Scrapper". Technically nameless, but this is what he chose to go by. Handled most of the scrapper events and violence, fights, blood, killings. What juuszou has blacked out from the events, "scrapper" was the one in control. He took over for the majority of the castration. He played dead, when certain trafficking "clients" wanted him to play the role or he believed it would keep them safe. Identifies as a corpse. Doesn't like to front as he was always thrust into violence and whatever else the others couldn't handle. Has been the one closest to death. Numb. Now that he is not forced to be a scrapper or a "dead body", he keeps track of memories and who should know what. Keeps Rei from fronting and harming the body in ways that they shouldn't - like attempting prostitution to return to Big Madam or just dangerous sex acts in general. When he does front, it's also not for long if he can help it, especially since he's not great at acting super alive outside of life or death situations. Juuzou still handles the CCG missions.
