A rare non-render post!

So we’ve known for months that there was a bottle of wine associated with Kate’s room in the game files.  But for the longest time, we all thought it was cut content, or just a mistake.

Turns out the bottle is there, it’s just difficult to spot.  For this screenshot I had to increase the gamma to the highest value, and also brighten the image afterwards.  Not sure if this is new information or not - we’ve know about the bottle in the game files for months, but despite asking people to look for it, I’ve never seen anyone actually track it down in-game.

So Kate has been underaged drinking?  We’ve discussed previously whether this is related to communion at her church, but it doesn’t make much sense for a random member of the congregation - much less an underaged member - to be supplying any of the wine.

The plot thickens.

Ahm, hello Life is Strange fandom- I got an announcement

I have been working on my own LiS fan visual novel

This is VortexVN,

You play as Victoria waking up from a hangover with no memory of the week prior, you are tasked with piecing together what happened between her and one of the 4 love interests.

And of course the love interests are:

-Chloe (Chaseprice)

-Max (Chasefield)

-Kate (Chasemarsh)

-Rachel (Amberchase)

The game starts with a quiz; you unlock a route by picking answers related to the character you wanna romance (they are very obvious)

It takes place in an AU where the events of LiS1 and BtS didn't really happen and there are no special powers, Victoria's still a bi tch- I guess that's her special powers.

Think of this game as a spiritual successor to Love is Strange by Team Rumblebee rather than Life is Strange 1

Gameplay so far is your typical point and click visual novel affair, you will be given options to explore rooms, examine objects and talk to other characters- the interactions will play a crucial part in how the game ends,

You can win the girl or get rejected or worse... It will depend on how Victoria carried herself throughout the game,

Mistreating certain characters may prove to be a dealbreaker for the love interest,

Each girl has two close friends in the dorm that you should not upset (I'll reveal who in the guide pdf)

This game is also perfect for Victoria haters as you can ruin her life

The game has its own journal system that will be different depending on who you're romancing, it also comes with a read button (I blurred most of the text so you can get curious and play the game)

Read button will display the journal content in Open Dyslexic font

In the demo you'll only get to explore Victoria's room and the dorm hallways and you'll get two encounters from Juliet (Showers) and Alyssa (Hallway)

VortexVN is still in development, I have finished part.1 of the project and will start polishing it soon- the initial build of part.1 will be available to play as a demo!

The cutscenes lack color and proper shading at the moment and you will find placeholders as well, the art style is all over the place- this will change after the polishing phase

I just realized that the look of hate and betrayal Rachel gives her Father in Episode 3 is the same look she gives to Mark in the dark room.

Ugh. I’m going to think about this forever now. The fact that Rachel gave her Father, who kidnapped and drugged her Mother, the same look as she gave her groomer, who kidnapped and drugged her, makes me ill.

okay so (naturally) i have playlists for most life is strange characters and i found a bunch of songs that sound like chloe sung them! :) it sounds more like her voice in 'before the storm' (rhianna devries) if anyone is interested. so yeah! i just thought it was cool! a lot of the songs also really suit chloe in their lyrics/genre too ^^

this analysis isn't, like, that i think that the artists wrote these songs about chloe, i just love thinking about songs in terms of chloe. as you can tell.

The scream of 'who's the princess now, BITCHES??" is... very chloe to me. a little context, this song is from a very peculiar youtube musical episode series thing that ashly burch stars in, i watched it a few years ago and it's definitely something. it's actually got a bunch of popular youtube-musical people (like Joey Richter from Starkid) if anyone's interested. you can watch it here!

small update! i haven't had as much time to work on it as i'd like, but i still got somewhere :) i was mostly just trying to compile and draw the sprites for now... i figured out how to do composite images, which is great because i can save each expression and outfit separately so i don't have to add like a hundred combinations for each character.

oh, and here's chloe! this is at the start of the game, but i decided to include her little blue tuft because i love how it looks :D

you'd be surprised at how crazy the code gets. but i learned some things, so it's pretty cool! now i'll start chipping away at the story, and variations of the sprites.

(fan game) life is strange: lost and found!!!!!

hey guys!

so i've been planning a sort of visual novel game recently which will build on a python game that i made that allows you to go to blackwell and meet a bunch of characters :) it would include a lot of choices and consequences -- a bit like Love is Strange! i love that game but i wanted to avoid something too similar, so here's the general idea for mine:

play as a student in blackwell at the start of the new school year -- everyone else is new, so you can make friends and meet a bunch of people!

the core characters you could meet would be max, chloe, rachel, kate, warren and victoria, though if i finish, i might add more people! :) [such as steph and dana]

the first week is composed of a few different subjects which you get to try out, and work with a partner (of your choice!!!) to complete your lesson tasks

there's a prom coming up in a couple of days! you get to ask a character if they'd like to go with you :)

since it's just me working on it as a fun project, it's a little less ambitious than Love is Strange, haha :D but i hope it'll be fun to play when complete! also your choices totally impact your outcome ^^ the next couple of months are unfortunately horrendously busy but i hope i can find time to work on it, and i'll post updates!

lo and behold, the game so far. it looks like a mess because it is! i'm just using images from google (the text box is from animal crossing) for now to figure out the story haha :D
