i usually read positive things about venus/mercury aspects. even if it's something negative, it's from the caliber of "you may be too flirty" or "you can sweet talk people too much without really meaning it". you know, venus is considered a beneficial planet and mercury is neutral and overall ignored (off topic but it never fails to surprise me how ppl can have such strong feelings about gemini on and yet completely ignore its ruling planet). so the aspects between the two are often not seen as something with a strong effect. or perhaps it's because there is a limited number of aspects those two can form and they're mostly harmonious.
i feel like they create a pretty distinctive energy imprint tho? one of the frequent expressions of these aspects is being overly critical of the ppl you form relationships with - not necessarily romantic but esp those. the natural attention to detail of mercury sometimes turns into pettiness. mercury doesn't rule only gemini, it also rules virgo - planets which are aspected by it often develop an inclination to be critical and even harsh when it comes to their standards. there is an irritable nature to people whose Venus aspects mercury, esp it it's a conjunction. they usually talk in a pleasant manner and are charming as heck in this elusive way but when they get closed to someone there is usually this pressure they start putting on them - a pressure to act a certain way so they don't make them nervous in this jittery way associated with mercury. this is highlighted when the two ppl have venus in aspect to mercury in synastry too, esp a harsh aspect. another manifestation of these aspects, both in synastry and natal, can be knowing what to say in order to please others and slipping into doing it just to keep the peace or make them like you. sometimes that's okay, even necessary. other times... you end up always silencing yourself and crossing your boundaries, or realize your relationships are pressuring you to do things you don't want and you're not seen and appreciated for who you really are.
with mercury/venus aspects there may also be a tendency to be really anxious about your self-worth and to expect a lot of yourself yet at the same time to lack the consistency often needed to prove yourself you're enough and you're doing well.

What Is The Moon In Astrology?
If youā€™re at all familiar with astrology, you probably know your sun sign, but did you know you have a moon sign, as well?
To the ancients, the sun and moon were the king and queen of the planets. The sun describes your goals and is the keeper of your life story. The moon describes what you need to be happy, your unconscious needs, your style of nurturing and self-care, what it looks like when youā€™re moody, and what home feels like.
In most monarchies, the king is more important than the queen. In astrology, the moon is just as important as the sun. The moon has a leadership role among the astrological planets as leader of the night sect, and if you were born at night, the moon is your leader, too.
Your Moon Sign: What You Need To Be Happy
Everyone wants to be happy, but what happiness looks like is different for everyone. Some people have an emotional need for attention, and others are terrified of the spotlight. Some people thrive on freedom, and other people need a structured routine.
Your moon sign can help you figure out the types of experiences you need to have in your life be happy.
Example: If you have the moon in Capricorn, you thrive in solitude. If your life is excessively full of social engagements, youā€™ll likely feel cranky, but an hour alone working on something that feels productive will boost your spirits.
How You Do Nurturing and Self-Care
When we were born, we came into the world helpless. Our earliest relationships were ones of care. The moon describes our relationship with the people who cared for us and the things we learned about self-care from them. Carole Taylor says the moon describes what makes you feel fed, literally or metaphorically.
Just like there are many ways of pursuing happiness, the way we take care of ourselves and others looks different depending on our moon sign. The moon tells you the kinds of self-care routines that are likely to be most effective.
Example: If you have the moon in Cancer, self-care is about taking care of your emotional needs. You benefit more than other signs from journaling practices and relationships that support you through difficult moods.
Unconscious Needs: The Things You Crave Without Thinking About It
If youā€™re old enough to read this article, you probably have a pretty good idea of who you are. Even if you donā€™t have an elevator pitch down, you have a good idea of what your needs are and how you are (or are not) getting them met.
Or do you?
In the early 20th century, psychologists noticed that people arenā€™t always as self-aware as we think we are. We want things sometimes without knowing the reasons why, and we often act from instinct and habit without thinking. They called the area of the mind that influences these behaviors the unconscious.
In her book Astrology: Using the Wisdom of the Stars in Your Everyday Life, Carole Taylor points out that just like the physical moon reflects the sunā€™s light, the astrological moon ā€œtakes a less prominent role in our conscious awareness than our solar goals.ā€
Example: I have the moon in Aquarius. Aquarius has a need for freedom and an aversion to authority. I like to think of myself as a team player, but the truth is that I instinctually shy away from situations where I will be expected to go along with the group.
What It Looks Like When Youā€™re Moody
If you took notes on your mood every day and averaged it out over the course of your life, the result would look a lot like your moon sign. The moon describes your average mood, your personal default state.
Historically, this was called your temperament. The ancients talked in terms of four main temperaments: choleric, melancholic, sanguine, and phlegmatic. We might call those temperaments irritable, depressed, cheerful, and easy-going.
In astrology, there are twelve temperaments described by moon signs.
Example: If you have the moon in Leo, you have a sanguine temperament. You feel most yourself when youā€™re happy and playful, expressing yourself creatively, and making the people around you happy.
What Home Feels Like
Are you more comfortable in a city apartment, or is your ideal home fifty miles from the nearest town?
Do you prefer to live by yourself, or would you be happiest in a party house?
The answers you give to questions like this correspond with your moon sign.
Example: If you have the moon in Libra, having a home that is aesthetically pleasing and harmonious is important to you. Relationships are an important part of self-care for you, so a space you couldnā€™t share with others is likely to make you uncomfortable.
What is your moon sign, and what does it tell you about how to get your needs met?
If you would like to spend some quality time getting to know the moon through the signs, I made a Moon Mood Journal, guided journal that helps you do just that.

The Best Self-Care Routine For Your Moon Sign
If youā€™ve ever read an article about self-care and felt like it was adventures in missing the point for you, youā€™re not alone. Just like one-size-fits-all clothes are a myth, one-size-fits-all self-care routines arenā€™t going to work for everyone.
In astrology, the moon describes the things you need to be happy. It is your personal recipe for comfort and well-being.
In this article, I talk about what a daily routine of self-care looks like for each of the astrological signs.
Moon in Aries
Aries is a stress magnet. With the moon in Aries, itā€™s essential for you to build activities into your routine that help burn off stress.
In the morningā€¦ Start your day with a quick yoga routine or an adaptogen-filled smoothie.
At workā€¦ Itā€™s easy for you to fall into a bad posture or unconsciously clench your muscles when youā€™re stressed out at work. Make sure to take a few minutes throughout the day to stretch and move your bodyā€”especially if your job requires you to sit for long periods of time.
At lunchā€¦ Fuel up on food that will give you energy, and take a few minutes to do deep breathing exercises. If you have a hard time sitting still long enough to meditate, try taking a walk or doing a simple mindfulness practice.
After workā€¦ Itā€™s important to communicate to your body when stress is over. If you find your work or your commute stressful, do something that marks the transition from work-time to home-time like changing your clothes or taking a shower.
On your days offā€¦ Look for adventures. You werenā€™t made to be bored, and thereā€™s a big, wide world out there to explore.
Moon in Taurus
Earthy Taurus moons feel best when you are in your body, and it feels good. You werenā€™t born on this earth to be a stress-ball, and the more you lean into that, the happier youā€™ll be.
In the morningā€¦ Try to give yourself plenty of time to get through your morning routine. Taurus is a slow sign naturally, and you thrive on calm. Having a few minutes before you begin your day to drink your coffee before you have to start anything important will do a lot for your mood.
At workā€¦ Resist the temptation to give into productivity culture. You work best when youā€™re able to work at your own pace, even if thatā€™s slow and steady. The time other people spend healing from burnout is time you can use to catch up.
At lunchā€¦ If thereā€™s anything about your job that is physically uncomfortable, spend a few minutes getting away from that thing, if you can. Otherwise, eat something delicious and take a walk outside when the weather is nice.
After workā€¦ Take care of your body. Taurus is the most embodied sign in the zodiac, and itā€™s important for you to make time in your routine to feel good every day, even if itā€™s as simple as switching to the comfy shoes instead of the ones that pinch.
On your days offā€¦ Spend as much time as you can outside in nature. Taurus gets a lot from connecting with animals, so spend some time at the park watching people walk by with their dogs.
Moon in Gemini
Gemini is the sign of the conversationalist. Gemini moons are happiest when you feel like you are thinking quickly and on top of your game.
In the morningā€¦ Take a deep breath. You might be tempted to do All The things, but you donā€™t have to jump into everything right away. All you have to do right now is breathe.
At workā€¦ You might do your best work by going along with the task that is most immediate or urgent, but itā€™s important to remember that your priorities are important, too. Make a list of a few things you think are important to finish every day and do your best to make sure they donā€™t get lost.
At lunchā€¦ Talking with people is a very important emotional need for you. If you have a job that doesnā€™t allow you to talk to people while youā€™re working, reach out to a friend or grab a colleague for coffee.
After workā€¦ If you have a job that bores you, now is the time to stimulate your mind. Talk to people you find interesting or geek out about the thing youā€™re obsessed with at the moment.
On your days offā€¦ Socialize, socialize, socialize.
Moon in Cancer
Cancer is the sign of the nurturer, which means that it is extra important for you to take care of yourself. Thereā€™s a lot of pressure (especially on people of certain genders) to put everyone elseā€™s priorities first, but you will do a better job taking care of others when youā€™re well taken care of first.
In the morningā€¦ Feed yourself. Literally. It sends a message to your body that youā€™re taking care of yourself.
At workā€¦ Honor your emotions, whatever they are. If it isnā€™t appropriate to express your feelings in front of your colleagues, thereā€™s a reason the bathroom door has a lock on it.
At lunchā€¦ Find quiet if you can. If you canā€™t, a good pair of noise cancelling headphones works wonders.
After workā€¦ Reconnect with your feelings before you jump into anything. If your job is particularly stressful, be careful about making plans on work nights, or make sure you can back out of them. Sometimes self-care isnā€™t compatible with dinner parties.
On your days offā€¦ Schedule yourself some free-time alone. Ask yourself: If I was my best parent, what would I do with this time? Then do that thing.
Moon in Leo
Leo is the sign of the entertainer and the child. You have an emotional need to be seen, and you need to feel like you are making the people around you happy. When you are alone, creative self-expression feeds your soul.
In the morningā€¦ Put on something that feels like You. Other signs can get away with wearing the same gray dress slacks 6 days a week. (Iā€™m looking at you, Capricorn.) You donā€™t have that luxury. A spontaneous smile when you look in the mirror is a must.
At workā€¦ You need to be in a job where your work is appreciated. If the people around you donā€™t get what youā€™re about, lunch breaks are for job hunting.
At lunchā€¦ Do something playful. Adult coloring books were made for Leo moons.
After workā€¦ If youā€™ve got social energy to burn, use it, baby!
On your days offā€¦ The best audience is a grateful audience. Take a few hours to volunteer for a cause you believe in.
Moon in Virgo
Virgo is famous for being a detail-oriented perfectionist. As a Virgo moon, you have an emotional need to feel like you have all your ducks in a row. Donā€™t let anyone tell you otherwise.
In the morningā€¦ Get straight on your priorities. List making was made for Virgo moon mornings.
At workā€¦ Find yourself being especially critical of yourself (or someone else)? Make it a practice to notice three things you (or they) do right every day. You can do it. Honestly.
At lunchā€¦ Check in with yourself: How is that to-do list coming? If youā€™re feeling antsy because things arenā€™t getting done, reassess your plans and make peace with changes or set some boundaries on your afternoon.
After workā€¦ Make yourself a healthy dinner and get some exercise. ā€¦That isnā€™t the kind of indulgent self-care advice you usually get, but it will make you feel better.
On your days offā€¦ Connect with a craft. Anything that you really enjoy doing and can work on perfecting is good for the soul.
Moon in Libra
Libra is the sign of the scales, which means that feeling like you have balance and calm in your life is important for your emotional health.
In the morningā€¦ Get into your body and literally find your balance. Spending a minute in a one-legged yoga pose will tell your brain that itā€™s time to wake up and find your footing.
At workā€¦ People are going to look to you to be the peace maker. You can embrace this, or you can fight it, but your ability to see all sides of an issue is valuable. Allow yourself to shine.
At lunchā€¦ Look at your face in the mirror. If your best friend had that expression on their face, what advice would you give them? Go do that.
After workā€¦ Tend to your relationships. A healthy relationship is a happy Libra moon.
On your days offā€¦ Seek serenity, chase beauty, live poetically.
Moon in Scorpio
Scorpio is the sign of the psychologist and the sorcerer. No one feels their darkest emotions as strongly as a Scorpio moon. Tending to hard emotions is essential for your emotional health.
In the morningā€¦ Watch out for getting in the habit of waking up depressed, anxious, or angry. If you find that youā€™re in the same bad mood every morning, it doesnā€™t have to be that way. Change up your routine, and, if that doesnā€™t work, talk to your doctor.
At workā€¦ It can feel sometimes like you are a researcher behind a one-way mirror. You can see everyone else, but everyone else canā€™t see you. You can use this to your advantage. It can also make you invisible at times when people should be seeing the good work youā€™re doing. Make sure youā€™re using your super power intentionally.
At lunchā€¦ If your job denies you solitude, take it back during your breaks. Having times to sort through your feelings during the day is vital for Scorpio moons.
After workā€¦ Music is your best friend. If you have a commute, listening to music that resonates with your feelings (or, better, takes you to a better emotional place) will give you a much better evening.
On your days offā€¦ Connect with people who love your intensity. The cool kids are supposed to be easy-going, but there are people who value deep honesty. Treasure them when you find them.
Moon in Sagittarius
Sagittarius is the sign of the wanderer, the philosopher, and the student, and no sign understands that life is a journey better than Sagittarius moons. You have an emotional need to feel like life has meaning. Donā€™t let the cynical world out there put out your fire.
In the morningā€¦ If you donā€™t know the reason you got up this morning, figuring it out is the first thing on your to-do list.
At workā€¦ No matter what your job is, find some time to do something youā€™ve never done before, even if itā€™s finding out where they keep the big boxes of ketchup packets. Learning something new every day is key to your happiness.
At lunchā€¦ Do something that makes you happy. Taking a break to look at silly kitten pictures is a thing.
After workā€¦ Break up your routine and try something new. That new Ethiopian restaurant down the street really is calling your name.
On your days offā€¦ Explore, explore, explore.
Moon in Capricorn
Some of the other signs might not realize that you werenā€™t born wearing a business suit, but we know you have a big heart, Capricorn moon.
In the morningā€¦ The person who invented goal setting was probably a Capricorn moon. Feeling like you have a clear idea of the mountain you have to climb today is important to you.
At workā€¦ You donā€™t need advice. Youā€™re a Capricorn.
At lunchā€¦ Be intentional about eating at your desk. Is it really helping, or does it just feel like itā€™s helping?
After workā€¦ Exists. If you let it.
On your days offā€¦ Take them.
Moon in Aquarius
Aquarius is the sign of the genius and the rebel. Aquarius moons have an emotional need to go against the crowd and do their own thing.
In the morningā€¦ If you can, try to wake up without an alarm. The feeling of starting the day on your terms will do a lot for your emotional state.
At workā€¦ Check your relationship with authority. If you are in a position where you need to take orders from someone you donā€™t respect, donā€™t underestimate the toll that will take on your emotional health, and account for that in your self-care practices.
At lunchā€¦ Think about the future. Itā€™s something you probably enjoy doing anyway, and if you donā€™t like your current circumstances some healthy day-dreaming will help you make changes.
After workā€¦ Get back into your body. Aquariusā€™s favorite coping mechanism is dissociation, and itā€™s important to remember to stop when the need is gone.
On your days offā€¦ Do your own thing.
Moon in Pisces
Pisces is the sign of the mystic, the poet, and the open ocean. It is essential for Pisces moons to have free time to explore the mysteries of consciousness and Just Be.
In the morningā€¦ Start your day with meditation, even if itā€™s a few minutes staring out the window on the bus.
At workā€¦ Pisces has the ability to masquerade as other signs when necessary, but itā€™s important to remember who you are. When youā€™re starting to feel ungrounded lean into the place in your body that feels like the core of your being. Meditate on it for a minute. Youā€™ll know what Iā€™m talking about.
At lunchā€¦ Space out. If you donā€™t do it now, youā€™ll do it this afternoon. (You might do it this afternoon, anyway.)
After workā€¦ Have you meditated yet today?
On your days offā€¦ Sensory deprivation tanks were made for Pisces moons.
What about you? Whatā€™s your moon sign, and what are you doing to take care of yourself today?
If youā€™ve read this far, youā€™re pretty cool, Iā€™d love for you to connect with me on Instagram and tell me about your plans.

Uraniaā€™s Mirror
Uraniaā€™s Mirror; or, a view of the Heavens is a set of 32 astronomical star chart cards, first published in November 1824.Ā They had illustrations based on Alexander Jamiesonā€™s A Celestial Atlas,Ā but the addition of holes punched in them allowed them to be held up to a light to see a depiction of the constellationā€™s stars. They were engraved by Sidney Hall, and were said to be designed by ā€œa ladyā€, but have since been identified as the work of the Reverend Richard Rouse Bloxam, an assistant master at Rugby School.
The cover of the box-set showed a depiction of Urania, the muse of astronomy, and came with a book entitled A Familiar Treatise on Astronomyā€¦ written as an accompaniment.Ā Peter Hingley, the researcher who solved the mystery of who designed the cards a hundred and seventy years after their publication, considered them amongst the most attractive star chart cards of the many produced in the early 19th century.

there is a special kind of loneliness that comes with having saturn in gemini/libra/aquarius or in the 3rd/7th/11th house. it's not emotional loneliness or disappointment, it's a feeling of mental isolation. saturn in air signs/houses indicates someone who questions themselves a lot and thinks deeply, reevaluates everything, so it may be hard to communicate with people the same way the person is used to talking in their own head. this renders them often incapable of expressing themselves as they find natural and satisfying...and how you can really connect to someone on an intellectual level if you can't talk to them like you need to? such people often crave deep and detailed discussions and analysis with someone else and bond best that way. but they probably don't get them often and even tho they might not seem emotionally lonely or disappointed, they often feel pretty isolated and alienated from others and as if their mind can't be properly shared.
this might lead to developing a feeling of intellectual superiority or contempt for how superficial are people, or even cynicism and an overall calloused approach to life. people with air saturn just want someone to catch up to their thoughts and join them there. but more often than not, they don't know how to allow this and make it happen.

hello hello! i appreciate your astrology posts! you seem to know a lot so, there are people in the astrology community who say that a planet in fall is harder than a planet in detriment. and i also see people say exalted planets work better than domicile planets. i do know each astrologer approaches this differently, how do you view this?
So, it's actually the opposite. If you notice how the calculations for the Almuten Figuris work, for example, domicile receives 5 points, while exaltation receives 4 points.
Exile is worse than fall in the sense that the planet is totally a fish out of water. When the planet is in its domicile, it's comfortable in its room with its stuff. But in exile it doesn't have access to any of its resources, the planet is not only away from home, it's also in its enemy's house. Oppositions suck!
Mars is the king in his house of Aries, the Sun is like a celebrity or an important person of power, but he's not the host of the house. He still relies on Mars to provide for him when he's there. If Mars is badly placed, the Sun's exaltation will not be as great as it could.
Aries is the spring equinox, a huge celebration about when light starts winning over darkness, when the Sun starts rising and the days are just starting to get longer. He's going for the summer, things are only getting better, but he's not totally in power yet, it's not the summer. You're in power and have more resources in your home, not in a stage. Both are great and amazing in different ways. Domicile is the best, because the planet is not in anybody else's kingdom, he's the king and he's in his own kingdom, but it's just that when you're all the way up, there's no way to go but down. The exaltation is effective and refined, but it's just not giving you everything yet.
Fall is a place of humiliation, the opposite of exaltation. When the light starts dimming, the Sun starts losing power, the nights are starting to get longer. The fall is waning power and that's horrible, but not necessarily the most horrible thing. You're in a place where you're not celebrated or an important person anymore, because someone else is starting to win over you. It's like when your archenemy wins the prize you wanted. It's humiliating, but it's about loss, while exile is like when you're in your enemy's house, so you're either in great danger or imprisoned. You have 0 things in common with your enemy, so if you want to fight him, you're not going to find the weapons you're used to in his house, you're going to have to find a way to use his stuff, but every hit you try will just fall flat. How is the Sun supposed to lead in the winter when he's got only a few hours above the horizon?
Disclaimer: of course this is all symbolic, I know Aquarius is not the winter in the sourthern hemisphere. I'm from Brazil, I feel that on my poor skin, but it's interesting how our indigenous cultures thought about similar symbolism despite the flipped seasons. Maybe one day I'll talk more about that.
I see people with their chart rulers in exile being physically impaired, or carrying chronic illnesses, or really isolated, marginalised, very uncomfortable with their circumstances etc; while fallen planets show a kind of discomfort that can be overcome. It's like exiled planets can't do much of anything, while fallen planets usually show a kind of debility that actually has a clear role, it's that kind of discomfort that can be useful or important to the topics of that planet.
Scorpio as the Moon's fall is a good example, because as much as we hate death, it's a cycle of material reality that's really important and inescapable. Scorpio has a lot to do with things dying and rotting, but becoming seeds or fertilizer for the next season. I see fallen planets sometimes adressing the stuff everyone avoids because it's sensitive or uncomfortable. Scorpio Moon reminds us of death; Mars in Cancer rebels against its homeland, picking up the sensitive fights; Sun in Libra puts a light on duality; Jupiter in Capricorn teaches how to survive and find abundance in scarcity; Saturn in Aries limits the will; Venus in Virgo puts faith in the beauty of method.
Of course you can see how they show up as very horrible and sad things. I'm not saying theyre nice, especially in mundane astrology. Think of Jupiter in Capricorn during 2020, or Mars in Cancer earlier this year...
And planets in domicile or exaltation also have their bad sides by the way, but I'll leave that for another day.

Maybe this is a very ambiguous question but what are the negative effects a badly placed venus / afflicted venus can cause?
That is certainly ambiguous. There's a lot of ways Venus can be afflicted and badly placed.
Venus in Aries is totally different from Venus in Scorpio, or Venus in Virgo, or Venus combust, or Venus in a malefic house, or ruling one (there are at least three), or receiving a harsh aspect from Saturn... Do you want me to talk about all of them??
William Lilly talked about well and ill dignified planets in Horary Astrology in his book Christian Astrology. The descriptions are valid for the planets in the signs of their joys or detriments, not necessarily for when they're in bad houses or afflicted. This is useful for horary when you're asking about someone and the planet representing them can describe their nature. For Venus, he said that when she's well dignified:
"She signifies a quiet man, not given to law breaking, quarrel or wrangling, not vicious, pleasant, neat and spruce, loving mirth in his words and actions, cleanly in apparel, rather drinking much than gluttonous, prone to venery, oft entagles in love matters, zelous in their affections, musical, delighting in baths, and all honest merry meetings, or masks and stage plays, ease of belief, and not given to labor, or take any pains, a company keeper, cheerful, nothing mistrustful, a right vertuous man or woman, oft had in some jealosy, yet no cause for it."
So, why does he say all of this? Venus doesn't like dryness and/or heat. She doesn't like infertile places. She's cold and moist and likes places that are propitious to life, so she can create, love, celebrate, enjoy, reconcile and harmonize things. Some things he says are expected. First of all, he explains a lot about how she's contrary to Mars: simply pleasant and enjoying pleasure. She also likes cleanliness (not Mercury). He randomly says she's more inclined to drinking instead of eating too much and I can only guess why he says that... in my opinion is probably because eating too much isn't pleasant or "graceful". And she's prone to venery of course, duh.
He talks about her having ease of belief. Interestingly, he says the same thing about Mercury when he's badly placed. So, to Venus this is a good quality and to Mercury this is a fault. Veneration is her topic. Venus, especially exalted, talks about faith. It's about an openness, a surrender and belief in the beauty of everything. A lot of incredibly religious people are venusian. I'm not necessarily talking about religious leaders with power and influence over the masses, I'm talking about real people with a lot of faith. Venus in detriment can definitely show lack of openness, hope or faith.
And when she's ill dignified:
"Then he is riotous, expensive, wholly given to loosenesse and lewd companies of women, nothing regarding his reputation, coveting unlawful beds, incestuous, an adulterer; fennatical, a meer skip jack, of no faith, no repute, no people; a meen lazy companion, nothing careful of the things of this life, or anything religious; a meer atheist and natural man."
"A natural man", he says lol. He most definitely means a person who's attached to "nature" in an "animalistic" way. Lustful, undignified. And again emphasizing the lack of faith.
Disclaimer: This is not modern astrology. Planets do not talk about you unless they're related to the 1st house. But still, all of these qualities are not necessarily applicable to someone ruled by Venus in detriment in their natal chart either, he just made a choice to talk about the nature instead of the state of a person. A Libra rising with Venus in Aries for example could show a person who's all of that, but could also show a venusian, harmonious person who's very uncomfortable in their ungraceful (Aries) circumstances, a fish out of water. That's what being in exile means too: being completely uncomfortable.
So, a lot of this tells us about the nature of Venus and we can imagine what she's going to manifest as when she's linked to house topics. She might represent family, a partner, or a career, or death, or sickness. Let's say your Venus in detriment is related to the 6th house. She's going to indicate any diseases involving the reproductive organs, the digestive system, the belly; the kidneys; impotency; all STDs; also diabetes, because Venus rules sweetness etc.
So, you know, it always depends on what she's talking about and what kind of affliction she's having. A combust Venus ruling the 7th house could talk about hidden relationships; Venus in detriment could may be related to a career about helping women in dangerous situations if she's in the 10th house. Related to the 3rd house, Venus could talk about a religiousness that involves a very feminine use of intuition, adornments, the senses, plants, oils. And a lot of herbal medicine makes me think of Venus in Mars signs, especially Venus in Scorpio.
Anyways... this is getting long. Hope that helps at least a little bit.

If you had to choose, which would you say are your favorite venus placements?
hum, I don't think about favorites, but maybe I'm biased towards Pisces.
I'll also say I like my own placement, which is Gemini Venus. There's this brilliant brazilian astrologer, who's truly amazing in her posts about Venus and I love her post about Gemini Venus, in which she relates it to Scheherazad. I fell in love with that post and ever since I read it I just love my Venus placement so much.
But what I love even more is how Venus' exaltation in Pisces makes us reflect more about the spiritual meanings of Venus, in place of reducing her to the basic key words like love, sex, friendship, beauty etc. Venus suffers the most with stereotypical descriptions, but if you think about her exaltation you can come to deeper conclusions by yourself. Pisces is a religious/spiritual sign, because it's Jupiter's watery home. The fact that it exalts Venus definitely says something about her.
Venus makes connections. Hers is the aspect of the sextile, she takes two different things and makes them relate and have sympathy, or affection.
Faith is an act of love. You only have faith in things that are sympathetic to you. You have faith by being affected and having affection for a kind of belief. It's completely irrational, you can't have any proof for it. If you had proof, it wouldn't be a belief. There are so many kinds of beliefs, so many interesting ways to think about existence, and you choose the one you have the most love for. There's no way you'd believe in something without developing an emotional/spiritual attachment to it. You get in a love relationship with it. If something is simply logical but does not make you feel something like love, you just won't give it the time of day.
Love is an act of faith. Rationality kills love. There's no way to logically love someone. There's no such thing as it making "logical sense". Logic only makes you nit-pick and even objetify the other person. You start analyzing what they can be and/or do, as if they're a device or something, or you rationalize how this relationship makes sense for both, looking at it in a dry, completely insensitive way. There's no sympathy. If you love, you blind yourself willingly and simply have faith that you're stepping on solid ground. You trust that this is a good and sublime thing, a reflection of divinity. That no matter what, you're both souls on their particular paths, who can't have their dignity judged and punished by biased worldly morals. Venus in Pisces loves and believes wholeheartedly.
Of course believing or trusting too much can be an issue, but let's distinguish here the delusional surrender to toxic relationships from the necessary trust in the value of every soul. When you trust the value of your own soul and of others, you definitely don't stay around toxicity. You just have to understand how judging and punishing are not supposed to be powers that we have in our relationships.
I see a lot of all of this in my boyfriend, he's ruled by Venus in Pisces.
I can't say much about other placements, because I don't think a lot about favorites. I don't believe Venus is important in every chart, or that it will talk about the same topics on every chart. It definitely doesnt say a lot about you if she's not related to the ascendant or very prominent in your chart and whatever. And I don't have so many relationships with venusian people to say that this or that one was more "special".

Hii! I just found your blog and saw the asks open. I'm curious about astrology and I want to ask a question. I always wonder how people see me from the outside or how I make them feel when I'm around them. If I am not mistaken, people usually describe the appearance with ascendant sign.
What can be effective on this other than the rising sign? My birth time is 31.08.2001 and birth time is 20:30. Sorry if it's a silly question. Thank you so much already āœØāœØ
Yes, it's about the ascendant and whatever is in the ascendant sign too. Any fixed star on that degree is important. And the ascendant ruler. There's also the Moon, which represents material reality (body) and mind, so it can be very personal as well.
You probably heard about your Pisces ascendant a lot, but it can give you a very pretty face, since Pisces is the exaltation of Venus. Pisces is a water sign with both benefics ruling it. "Benefic" is supposed to mean that the planet propitiates life, and Pisces is very very wet and fertile. I've seen Pisces give clean, soft, hydrated skin. But sometimes it can be oily and give you trouble if something's afflicted, especially involving Mercury, who rules the skin. They have soft, rounded features and flat cheeks or an oval/oblong face, like a fish. Some pisceans tend to be short but thick. I think a lot of them have teeth that are a little bit pushed back or a little bit crooked, but that's just my own observation.
They can be very very religious or spiritual. They have distant eyes, or droopy eyes. They're a little aloof, pleasure seeking or uncomfortable with practical reality. There's a longing for something bigger and more meaningful, which can be a wonderful trait, or it can be a little depressive or unreasonable in its romanticism. It's the opposite of Virgo, and the debilitation of Mercury (reason). They can be emotional because it's a very romantic (Venus exaltation) water sing, but they still can be very much able to detach and move on to another thing. But it's a little weird, it's not like the Gemini detachment. Geminis are able to detach because air keeps things as possibilities, there's no attachment to air. Water is about connection, relations, it's basically the element of attachment. So, Pisces sometimes moves from connection to connection and that can feel a little emotionally chaotic to be moving around so much. But it's a sign that also talks a little bit about the leassons in that, Pisces has a lot to teach about emotional detachment and true love.
Your rising is on the fixed star Scheat, Pegasus' wing. Pegasus is a very interesting one:
Pegasus (Greek Pegasos) is the winged white horse, son of Poseidon in the shape of a horse. At birth Pegasus sprang forth from the bloody neck of the Gorgon Medusa (Algol) when she was beheaded by the hero Perseus. A spring was created when Pegasusā€™ hooves struck the earth on Mount Helicon, the fabled spring of Hippocrene, at the behest of Poseidon to prevent the mountain swelling too much. Pegasus was tamed by Bellerophon who rode him into battle against the fire-breathing Chimera. Later Bellerophon attempted to fly to Mt. Olympus, the home of the gods, on the back of Pegasus. The gods sent a gadfly to sting Pegasus causing the horse to buck, throwing Bellerophon back down to earth. Pegasus, freed of his burden, continued to wing his way to Mt. Olympus where he took a place in the stables of Zeus/Jupiter. One of his wing feathers fell to earth close to Tarsus giving the city its name. It is said that Pegasus bears for Jupiter the lightning and thunder. Pegasus was a great favorite with the nine Muses who gathered around the Mount Helicon spring to sing and dance, for its water was said to bring poetic inspiration [https://www.constellationsofwords.com/pegasus]
It's a constellation about a kind of inspiration that's not very easy to come by, because the Pegasus in myth doesn't appear for everybody. As you see in the story, it can be about overestimating yourself or other things too. But on the positive side, it can be very creative, or ability to look at the most mundane, trivial things and see a potential spring. It's not about a light bulb going in the brain moment; it's a spring of water, fertile, intuititive and endless in meaning. It's when you get to the essence of a thing and can extract great things from it for as long as you keep a relationship with it. That can be an incredible intuition and understanding, allowing you to fly off and go on amazing creative journeys, or scientific genius that allows you to go high in your accomplishments. You might just want to be careful not to be arrogant and fall like Bellerophon.
Pegasus the winged Horse will appear and gallop aloft in the heavens. It will bring forth people endowed with swiftness of movement and limbs alert to perform every task. One man will cause his horse to wheel round in caracoles, and proudly mounted on its back he will wage war from on high; horseman and soldier in one. Another will possess the ability to rob the racecourse of its true length such is his speed that he will seem to dissemble the movement of his feet and make the ground vanish before him. Who more swiftly could fly back from the ends of the earth as messenger or with light foot to the earthā€™s ends make his way?Ā  He will also heal a horseā€™s wounds with the sap of common plants, and will know the herbs which bring aid to an animalā€™s limbs and those which grow for the use of man.ā€ [Manilius, Astronomica, 1st century AD, book 5, p.350-353.]
Being ruled by Jupiter exalted in the house of good fortune seems great too, by the way. You can be very generous and receive great generosity too. You probably know the value in nourishing and giving to things so they can grow. Jupiter in Cancer can give you a wise and comforting presence, people might want to go to you to find acceptance and non judgmental wisdom and understanding when they feel like shit.
Sometimes I look at the egyptian terms of the ascedant to get another layer about the first house, appearance and personality, but I don't consider it too often, so I can't tell you certainly that this is an important thing. I just think it's funny how Firmicus Maternus talked about people with the ascendant on certain terms and how some of it turns out to be at least half true. You have your ascendant in Pisces on the terms of Saturn, so you're piscean/Jupiterian with a little bit of Saturn.
"If the ascendant is found in the terms of Saturn, this will make the natives always sluggish and slow, with thoughts hidden in deep silence; they are wicked and malevolent, alien to all grace and charm; their plans are slow to take effect; their hostility is turned against everyone and their anger is long-continued."
Maternus, Mathesis. Liber Quintus, II The Ascendant, p.163
He was dramatic like that. My boyfriend has his ascendant in the terms of Saturn and Maternus is right, everything is so slow with that man lol. He's just wrong about the "no grace or charm" or "wicked and malevolent" parts, because he's too venusian be that.
Your Moon in Aquarius in the 12th house can lead to isolation, either by your own decision or by suffering exclusion from others. You might have to learn to be by yourself and/or choose very wisely who you hang out with. You have to be careful not to be around people who treat you like the uggly duckling, and not let yourself believe people's biased opinions about you.

(almuten anon) soo in a way we could say the almuten is the plot of the movie (the movie representing our life) and our chart ruler is what kind of main character is starring in that movie or am i tripping very badly lmaooo
hm, I wouldnt put all that weight in one planet, even if it's the almuten. But yea, kinda. Ariana Grande, for example, she's ruled by Saturn in the 3rd, but her Almuten is the Moon in Libra in the 10th house. You can see how that Moon is so important in her life and how it shows up all the time, and it's not just because it's in the 10th, but because it's the Almuten too.
Joseph Campbell was ruled by Venus in Pisces, his career was ruled by the Moon in Leo, but what was his thing? His almuten Jupiter in Aries, a professor, a "mythologist" (jupiter), studying religion exploring archetypes and talking about the "hero's journey" (Aries).
It's great to see what the almuten rules in the chart, of course.

Could you talk a little bit about the nodes? And Arabic parts? Like I havenā€™t seen any interesting take on those here and these are the ones that I know the least about.
That's a huge task. Maybe I'll write about those one day, but I can leave you my favorite sources.
Acyuta Bhava has a bunch of videos on the lunar nodes. He talks A LOT, and with a very soothing voice. I like that he's not just explaining the nodes as a thing by themselves, but as a lunar thing, of course. The video I'm linking is great, but I also suggest just searching "acyuta bhava nodes" and having fun. His "Mysteries of the Moon" series is great too.
On the Lots, there's Patrick Watson's blog. I really don't like his style on that blog, you'll probably understand why when you read it, but it's still a very informative one.

You know how finding good info about fixed stars is kinda complicated? Are you familiar with fixed star Zaniah? If so, can you explain a bit what it stands for
FIXED STARS
It is not complicated to find good information on the fixed stars. I don't know if I'll describe your case, but I'll tell you why most people think it is. The best place for this is the Constellation of Words website. It not only gives you all the information, but also gives you its sources.
Tumblr media
You go there on the list of fixed stars and find the degree you're looking for on the list "Long 2000", right? For anybody who doesn't know, you look at the degrees of longitude when you want to find if there's any fixed stars conjunct something in your chart, and the fixed stars change degrees a little bit every century, so on the list "Long 1900" you'll find the degrees for the fixed stars in the year 1900.
Let's say someone has their Sun at 26 degrees Taurus. That's on the fixed star Algol. And they go to the page for Algol on the Constellation of Words website and look only at the interpretation for the Sun with Algol.
A lot of people do this. They'll ignore all the rich information that site gives, and definitely nevermind what the arabs, or the hindus, or the chinese had to say about that star, because those guys don't know anything, right? They only see this:
With Sun: Violent death or extreme sickness. If also in no aspect to a benefic, or there is no benefic in the 8th house, and the dispositor of the Sun in a day nativity or if the Moon in the night one is in square or opposition to Mars, the native will be beheaded; if the luminary culminate he will be maimed, mangled, wounded or torn to pieces alive; and if Mars is at the same time in Gemini or Pisces his hands or feet will be cut off. [Robson, p.124.]
That's not only scary, but useless if they haven't read the entire article. They won't understand why those things were said. If they would only read the whole page, they'd have a lot more insights. They would know for example that Algol is a star on the constellation Perseus, and that's the head of Medusa. They would understand its name and etymology, which is important. Never ignore names.
The more they find, the more they have questions, they start exploring the site and the sources it gives. And of course, they'd click on "Perseus" to understand the whole constellation and not just one little star. You don't understand Aries by just looking at what the ancients said about Hamal. Perseus and Medusa have a story, their story is full of meaning and you start understanding it by understanding the myths.
Perseus was a hero with qualities of intelligence, strength, boldness etc. The association with the planets that the ancient astrologers would give were helping by being kinda closely descriptive of the nature of these stories:
According to Ptolemy, Perseus is like Jupiter and Saturn. It is said to give an intelligent, strong, bold and adventurous nature, but a tendency to lying. By the Kabalists it is associated with the Hebrew letter Lamed and the 12th Tarot Trump "The Hanged Man." [Robson, p.56.]
A lot of these statements were made for when the star was rising, which would describe the nature of the person. So, not every fixed star you have activated by planets will talk about your character. It will most definitely talk about events in your life.
But this is Perseus. Algol is the head of Medusa, which is almost treated as separate, but not quite. Algol will focus on the more violent aspects of the constellation.
Of the nature of Saturn and Jupiter. It causes misfortune, violence, decapitation, hanging, electrocution and mob violence, and gives a dogged and violent nature that causes death to the native or others. It is the most evil star in the heavens. [Robson, p.124.]
And still, those were exaggerated truths. A lot of things will tend to show as much more metaphorical, especially in modern times. We're talking mainly about a story of decapitation here, so, a lot of the themes are about justice, but of a very violent kind, it's about putting end to carnage by being even more violent. It's Saturn and Jupiter, as Ptolemy says. Justice, but also endings and mercilessness.
I think watching movies released during a fixed star's activation is a great way to explore the themes and understand how they show up with some nuance. One of my favorite manifestations is the movie Bacurau, which was released with the Sun with Algol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's not only about the decapitations in that movie, you can see the underlying tone and it's much deeper. Bacurau also had the Moon with the Corvus constellation. Which is described as an ominous bird and also a procratinator.
The myth above tells how Apollo sends the Raven to fetch water (Hydra) in the godā€™s cup (Crater). The procrastinating Raven got back late because he waited for some figs to ripen before returning. Ravens, crows, and rooks, go ā€˜kraa kraaā€™ []. The call of the crow is a nasal caw compared to the deep, guttural croak of the raven, although both species have extensive and varied vocal repertoires []. The cawing of the ravens or crows was heard as 'Cras! Cras!' by Latin speakers, and was thought to mean 'Tomorrow! Tomorrow!' We get the word procrastination, 'postpone until the morrowā€, from Latin cras.'
Interestingly, "Bacurau" is the name of a brazilian bird, which is commonly called in some places as "amanhĆ£-eu-vou", meaning "I'll go tomorrow". Bacurau is a nocturnal hunter, attentive to it's surroundings, while ravens are really smart scavengers, same as the people in that movie. The Moon was on the star Algorab:
Of the nature of Mars and Saturn. It gives destructiveness, malevolence, fiendishness, repulsiveness and lying, and is connected with scavenging.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The movie's data is: 15th May 2019, 10pm. Cannes, France. That had an ascendant in Sagittarius, with the star Antares rising with it, another violent one. The heart of the scorpion.
Allen (Star Names, p.365) says 'Others say that Antares was Antarā€™s Star, and referring to the celebrated Arabic hero Antar, or Antarah. This refers to Ɓntara who portrays the 'Heart of the Scorpion' as in the Maniliusā€™ representation of the Scorpion character. 'By virtue of its tail armed with its powerful sting, the Scorpion creates natures ardent for war and active service, which rejoices in plenteous bloodshed and in carnage more than in plunder.'
It's a star about counter-attack, basically. The scorpion is sent to kill the giant Orion, who tried to rape Artemis. He stings him in the heel and is put in the sky for it. It makes me think of the people of Bacurau coming out of the holes to sting the enemy from behind.
Tumblr media
I swear to you that all the information I have on fixed stars, I found on that site. Of course, I ended up investigating people, movies, books etc with those stars and that adds to my knowledge too, but that site is all I read on fixed stars.
I advise anyone to limit their knowlegde of stars. Have you seen how many are there? Not all in the catalogue wil be important. And if you worry about knowing a lot of them, you'll never really know them. So how do you know which are important? You watch for magnitude. The brightest stars are the most important and they were studied a lot more.
Tumblr media
.The smaller the number on magnitude, the brighter they are. Some of them are even negative, like Sirius, which is -1.46 on magnitude. Sirius is the single brightest star in the sky. Algol is 2.1, as you can see above. I don't consider the stars with magnitude number higher than 3.5. Unless I see them manifest pretty clearly, which is not common. I can't even name one now. They start getting invisible to the naked eye, correlating to weaker effects.
Zaniah is a star in the Virgo constellation, magnitude 4.0. I don't know it and I probably won't study it, but it seems to have been an important star, marking an arabic lunar mansion. If you want to investigate it, I suggest looking at the article for Virgo and then go to specific stars.

virgo, capricorn, taurus & scorpio placements are always likeĀ ā€œi wish i didnā€™t have to do everything myself / i wish someone would help me outā€ but then when someone tries to do something for us we get bothered because theyā€™re doing it wrong or end up re-doing it once they leave so itā€™s done right šŸ˜(and thatā€™s on the rare 0.0001% chance that we actually ask for / accept help from someone instead of sayingĀ ā€œno iā€™m fine/i got itā€)
