It's not readily apparent in this post, but the show repeatedly implies that you die in Zero Mission by jumping onto the Chozo Statue, hence House's reaction in the second gif.

I have no clue why they made this decision (possibly so they wouldn't have to set the "deaths" up between takes?), but it results in an odd situation where House's patient dies by purposefully jumping onto the apparently-lethal Chozo Statue, and then House, confident that he can do better, "dies" doing the exact same thing.
