Normalize writing posts in other languages and requiring English users to translate them via apps, skill, etc. Why do I say this? Because this is a common experience for non-native English speakers (who aren't fluent in English) online that many native English speakers don't often stop to consider. There is a forced necessity to only use English in the modern world that detracts from the beauty inherent in language diversity.

You don't need to "earn" your rest. You don't need to "earn" being tired, or in too much pain to do something.

I don’t know why people are so afraid of modern implications in Hellenic polytheism. Yes, the foundation of our religion relies on the ancients, but even the ancients themselves would’ve adapted with the times had they been allowed to do so. There’s no shame in transformation and adaptation.
Whilst there is no religion without the foundation the ancients laid out for us, there is also no future for us if we do not adapt. Period.

Khaire! In my mid-late teens I was dipping my toes into helpol, but due to a lot of the Greek mythology media I was consuming at the time I was a pretty vocal Zeus hater. I can’t think of anytime he really sent signs he was angry, but I still regret how much I disrespected him.
I’m coming back to helpol now after a few years, is there anything I should do to try and make it up to him beyond apologizing? Are there any particular prayers, offerings, etc. you would say are appropriate in this situation?
Khaire!
I completely understand. Many worshippers seem to struggle with this initially, from what I've seen. I personally struggled with misconceptions and misinformation on Zeus (and other deities), due to a cult situation. It's very easy for people to be misinformed, honestly, and I think that Zeus especially knows this. I can't speak for him, but at the very least, he seems to be very aware of the fact that many people have an incorrect perception of him based on modern values and misinformation.
Personally, what I did was apologize, explained to him that I understood my beliefs were incorrect and rooted in misinformation, and asked if he'd be willing to open up worship in the future, as I continue to grow and learn. I can't recall if I did any specific ritual or offered anything specific, honestly; I might've given him incense. I apologized multiple times but had assurance each time that I had already been forgiven (I confirmed this through divination, amongst other things). I would highly encourage you to reach out to Zeus via divination. If you're a bit nervous, invite a deity you know very well to join you and aid you with Interpretation (I did this with Hermes). It can help emotionally as well, since it can feel intimidating admitting past mistakes to a deity, and I totally get that. I think the most important thing that I tried to focus on in my apology was explaining that I recognized the misconceptions and was actively trying to educate myself more. I think acknowledging those things is really helpful, but that's just my opinion; there's no right way to go about it officially.
I would recommend offering something you feel would be valued. Maybe make him a meal by hand with tea that you've added honey to? You could also draw/paint/create something for him, light some incense, light a candle, or even read a hymn of his aloud to begin the interaction (Homeric and Orphic hymns can easily be found on Theoi.com), to show some respect. You could even create a paper or bread goat and "sacrifice" it, if you're comfortable doing that (just (SAFELY) burn it and be sure to state clearly that it's an offering).
Although forgiveness isn't guaranteed, in my experience, Zeus is an incredibly forgiving and understanding god. Like I said, he seems to be acutely aware of the common misinformation spread about him online and in general. Every worshipper I've ever met (that has struggled with these misunderstandings) has been forgiven for these types of things. In my opinion, you just straight up did not know any better, and it sounds like you were also literally a child. Regardless of his response, show yourself some grace, and know that it's ok to make mistakes, as long as we choose to learn from them. I wish you the best, and know that you're not alone. This appears to be a very common experience for many people who convert to HelPol, although I hardly see it talked about publicly because I think many people feel ashamed of it. May Zeus smile upon you, if you wish him to, and may Zeus grant you his favor. Take care. 🧡
